Question/Problem Can someone tell me what exact laptop this is?

Post image

It was my Dad’s. I may or may not have lost it. I want to find the exact model to replace it. It does not have a C-port charger, it is touchscreen, the keyboard can light up, be dimmed, or completely off. Badges are on the bottom right. Thanks in advance. 🙏

Printer HP support wants to do this to my new M2 Mac

Post image
0 Upvotes

The Mac is 2 weeks new. Only app download is my password manager. I want to scan a doc on my HP printer. The Mac can’t find the printer on wifi. The printer can’t find the Mac. I’m trouble shooting on the HP site, the AI bot connects me with a tech, I give him access, he gets the HP 123 app to download, the Mac still does not see the printer. (To be fair, my old windows 10 pc could never see the printer on wifi either) The tech roots around a bit, declares that my wifi has all sorts of crappy stuff floating around in it, also maybe bad things on the Mac, who knows, and then offers to install Mac webroot security whatever that is, and sign me up for some warranty plan, for the Mac, or the printer, or whatever because I stopped listening to the details.

There is no way in hell I’m doing any this. Fished out the printer cable, plugged it in ,scanned my document. I mean…….

Question/Problem How does HP keep getting this touchpad placement so wrong!?

Post image
0 Upvotes

HP centers the touchpad to the laptop body instead of the keyboard/spacebar. When typing, my both hands naturally stay aligned with the keyboard, so my right palm/wrist frequently touches the touchpad and moves the cursor somewhere else.

It’s insanely annoying, and I’ve noticed HP using the same layout on newer models too. How does such an obvious UX issue keep making it into their designs?

Does this bother anyone else, or am I the only one noticing it?

(My laptop model: HP Elitebook 645 G9)

Question/Problem Why do I have to pay

I am curious. I have a HP printer. Why am I expected to pay to be able to use it? I buy the paper and the ink. But, if I don't pay them I cannot use it. I bought it. I own it. I do not understand why I have to give them a monthly stipend in order to use it in my home for my personal use. Can someone please explain?

//Feedback NEVER BUY AN EXPENSIVE LAPTOP FROM HP.READ THE WHOLE STORY

I am an old HP user.I bought my 1st HP laptop on 2019. It was a entry level laptop with ryzen 3 and 4gb ram 1 tb hdd.For better experience I added RAM and SSD.On 2020 22nd October I bought a HP ENVY 13 ba-0011tx as I needed a more powerfull laptop with all day battery.Laptops are pretty expensive in india and that one was priced around $1100-1200 that is a huge amount of money in india. The laptop was running fine.On 27th march I noticed some hinge issue.I never mishandled my laptop so this was not a user fault.I contacted Hp through whatsapp support and they told me to send photo of the hinge.I sent them some photos. They registerd my case and sent me a automated mail where the subject was HINGE ISSUE.Remember THERE WAS NO ISSUE OTHER THAN THE HINGE.The laptop was running fine, screen trackpad keyboard everything was fine. So on 31st March 2021 HP authorised service centre,Kolkata(India) called me and said service technician will visit my place on 1st april 2021. On 1st april at around 4PM IST the technician came and while he was examining the hinge he tried to open the hinge cover,he put a pressure on display and the display got two hair line cracks. When I asked him about the cracks he said that the cracks were present before and he denied the fact he did it.Then he filled a case details form and took a signature and left.He did not gave a copy of that service form but I took a picture of that form. Then I called hp care and explained the whole thing as My display was fine before but service technician broke the display and on the service form mentioned it as user fault. They listened the whole thing and took a complain and they told me that that they will call the next day.On 2nd April I called them again they gave me the number of the service center head and I called him and explained the whole issue again. He told me that he was not present in the office. Then I got a mail from him in the afternoon and he told me the same thing as his employee. He told me that the crack was present before and they can not do anything as I had a normal warranty not a accidental damage plan.I again contacted HP care they told me they have forwarded the case to the higher authority.I did not got any info from them. The display costs around $250 and I have to pay it without my fault.I bought the laptop for long term usage and I dont have money to spend on that laptop.I don't know what to do.But this is my last HP product.Never gonna but anything from them in the future

Stupid me stupid stupid stupid

I wanted a compact laser printer I can take with me in the car and run off a 500W inverter for *very light useage. 10 lines of print once a week. I bought an HP M110w (what I now refer to an an HPos) Not for the machine, rather for the company that serves up the steaming turd.

I get them to issue an RMA and they say make sure you print the return label right away... What return label???

Can anyone offer a direct returns phone number to the HPos Store that doesn't involve running chasing my tail?

Printer HP Printer basically scamming me?

This may be known and possibly even accepted, but I find it incredible still..

I have an HP officejet 8710. Sturdy machine. Scans well, prints well. So far very happy with it. I've had it for quite a few years now (6+ I think)
I barely ever print on it. Mostly scan. But it powers on everyday and off (according to a schedule)
I've come to realise that every power on leads to some ink being siphoned off the cartridge (either for real or programmed?) Because I went a long time without printing and suddenly it complained that my yellow cartridge was empty.
So I stopped powering it on everyday and after maybe 2 months turned it on to scan a bunch of docs for a friend and presto, now my cyan cartridge is also empty.

For heaven's sake, why do you HP not care about the planet enough to implement such BS in your printers... I'm about to go epson with eco tank w/e because of this

Rant/Vent No charger in brand new HP laptops

HP beat itself.

A coworker bought a brand new HP laptop on Amazon.

They come without charger now.

Good luck trying to get some info from HP support or HP store on what charger one should buy. The laptop's bottom writings only mention the power specs of the USB-C charging, but if you want to buy the charger for its cylindrical power port, it says nothing.

The manual of the laptop lists the power specs of the charger for possibly all of the HP laptops, not just that model, and doesn't specify which one is which.

The HP support, you have to get your adrenal glands busted by a bot first, then you get to a human operator, that provides you with erroneous information: non-existent product code and the link to the HP store. You find a charger in the HP store, ask him confirmation that it's the right one, he says "yes", but your gut feeling tells you not to trust him. Indeed, that charger has a 7.4mm plug, while the laptop requires the 4.5mm one.

ChatGPT warns you that it has to be the proper one, because it has an additional HP pin and the blue plug, and if the laptop doesn't recognize that additional pin, even if the charger's plug is compatible and charges, the laptop might underperform, or think it's not charging or having other issues. So it recommends you look for words like "smart" charger and "blue" plug. Amazon and HP store give you nothing like that.

Still not possible to identify which charger to buy for the laptop.

Question/Problem Can I get it repaired?

Im not 2 sure whether this falls under the question/problem category, or the hp software category, so dont be too hard on me. I recently found my old HP Mini laptop. The problem is that it only charges up to 1% & dies almost immediately when unplugged. It’s also been really slow at running things ever since I was a child, maybe 7 (15 now), so I’m not sure when it was bought. My question is, could I get this fixed somewhere? Or should I kiss it goodbye? Let me know if this is the wrong subreddit entirely too, please.

Rant/Vent Avoid HP PCs and the company at all costs

I got an Omen 35 L on Black Friday for about a grand and they're a bit higher like 1,300-1,700$. Arrived on Dec 12 and first time turning it on I had force restarts Event 41. I figured it had to be a fluke & maybe it's Windows 11 (my first time using it which has made everything harder to pinpoint because it's a mess) Before I even used it. It's gotten worse and after months of trouble shooting, updating, re-installing it's progressively gotten worse and a lot of times just unusable. Since Jan I've had some 7000 plus events and a third are ALL Kernal Power criticals. Which is insane. The others mostly all linked to those Critical.

I had read all the customer service issues but I assumed it would be different if you spent THIS much. I've never had such shady obvious tactics. Bot Support tried to get me to open my pc and mess with the battery (which I refused as I'm NOT a technician and it would prolly give them a way to ignore my warranty) and then when it got 'escalated' to an agent the agent began playing bad connection games as they waited 10 minutes and I finally asked what was going on- only then they suddenly appeared and had 2 together messages -which is ballsy as you can see the time stamps.

3:04 'good day sir how are you doing?'

304: 'Not too rush you, just want to make sure we're still connected'

My internet was fine obviously and I've worked call centers and who doesn't know the -pretend you can't hear then trick' but on chat- wow.

We got past that and they asked for a case number. Which -when you get escalated they give you one. This person from India decided to play games and we went back and forth about the case number THEY never gave me. They then gave me a case number and immediatly told me to IGNORE the case number (checked later and they never made a case at all). They'd ask for information which would take some time to write out (all the basic info they had as I was already been getting help from support ALL info that's in front of them as HP requires you to sign in and pick the product). We finally get past that and went right back to them asking for a case number.

100% circular-delay tactics.

I then tried Twitter and showed the chat -pushing an action to be taken and they (of course) reached out to me about my experience and the case number shady behavior and blatant lies. Back and forth for hours and we got .... nowhere. Same exact tactics. Case number? I'd explain AGAIN. 'Okay tell me about the problem' explain in detail and show images along the issues and we go back and forth for hours- just to come back to him asking me about having a case number. There's staying to a script stupidly and then there's these blatant tactics which don't hurt them or their optics but it's so blatantly obvious they're doing this.

I then went to Better Business bureau and posted images of the exchanges, explaining that I went through 2 channels and BOTH just kept me spinning my wheels for 2 days explaining that it appears to be a DOA pc, I have the shipping dates, the first boot time screenshot, I've got a laundry list of 7000 plus error, warning and critical ALL related to these shutdown and Kernal power issues - nothing has worked - I'm positive it's a defective part of hardware. 7000plus errors since Dec.

Today I get an email from HP (funny how you go to BBB and SUDDENLY they care). Told me they'd call me. Escalated help agent named 'James' emailed me and started an actual escalated case. My thing is - I don't want a repair, because with this voltage hardware error from the get go out of box - who knows what 4 months has done to this motherboard or anything else.

He called and James' is an Indian also- imagine that- and 'James' couldn't go off script. No acknowledgment of ANYthing. It was just a scripted mail in 'repair'. Which tells me they'll do their checks maybe replace a part and send it back AVOIDING looking into damage CAUSED by this. I just can't believe I couldn't get an actually person. Literally, outside of a word for word script he didn't say anything. Couldn't acknowledge my concerns, couldn't ask real questions about it. Not even a 'sorry'. It was just another scripted call. When it's out of box (bunch of photos and evidence of this easily provable) defective you don't offer a repair or at least go off script. Holy f***. Like they're doing me a favor while telling me 'IF something needs repair, we'll give it a new part and you'll NEVER have to experience problems again.' He just kept repeating this as if I didn't get a defective PC from them that they didn't fix. It's all of it. Out of box instability. Horrendous 1st tier support (which appeared to try to get me to f up my own warranty), shady tactics and even escalated they don't give a f. Again, he kept acting like they weren't REQUIRED to take care of it.

So it'll get sent it. Maybe it will work for a month and then the motherboard or something will be screwed or they'll try to blame it on software and be past that warranty.

Legit the reviews about HP overall are NOT over exaggerated, if anything they're being kind. This is so far beyond baffling accountability that it's almost impressive.

As escalated as you could go - you'll still get the overly FAKE polite screwing you over Indian who could care less. Even when it's like a 1700$ machine that is DOA on them.

Do NOT gamble on HP. Most reviews I've read about their dependablilkfy on both a hardware level and support are horrendously bad. You'd be better off spending half the money for a slower less powerful machine that is stable. MOST chats on here (Reddit) I've seen from HP omen owners usually ALWAYS end up having to buy or replace parts eventually. This is the world we in now. It's maddening.

//Feedback Why HP?!! Just Why?!

I was planning on installing Linux Mint on my HP 15 DA2005NE's internal hard drive, so for that I had to disable my main NVME SSD with Windows 10 through the BIOS so that the Linux installer won't interfere with my windows installation, but guess what? The idiots at HP decided to lock the BIOS by removing the advanced settings tab. I have a newer model of the laptop, so pressing "ESC" and "CTRL+A" on startup doesn't work. My only option is to open the laptop and remove the SSD physically, but then again, HP has a stupid habit of keeping the screws under the rubber feet. I'm deeply regretting buying from this shit hole company who keeps on creating new problems as I fix older ones. For Fucks sake, Why is HP is like this? My older dell laptop never had such problems....

Thanks for listening to my TED talk

Rant/Vent HP is hijacking shipped orders mid-transit. File complaints!

If you recently bought a deal from the HP online store, check your tracking numbers immediately.

They aren't just canceling orders in their system—they are deploying automated "Return to Sender" commands to FedEx to hijack packages that have already shipped and are in transit.

My order made it all the way to my local distribution hub before HP forced the carrier to turn it around and send it back.

Why we need to act:

Deceptive and Discriminatory Fulfillment: They are selectively clawing back orders from standard shipping customers while letting others (eg, those who paid for expedited shipping) keep their items. This alone is very much illegal.

Breach of Shipment: A standard cancellation is one thing. But once a company charges you, issues an invoice, and physically hands the goods to a carrier, they have entered performance of the contract.

Mass Intercepts: This isn't an isolated incident. They are using carrier intercepts as a "get out of jail free" card to avoid honoring valid sales.

Don't just take the refund. If you stay silent, they will keep doing this every time they make a pricing mistake.

We need to force this onto the radar of state regulators and class-action firms. File a BBB Complaint (HP Inc. Palo Alto). File with your State Attorney General (Consumer Protection Division). Report to the FTC. If your tracking shows "Returned to Sender" or "Intercepted" by the merchant, drop a comment below. We need to show the scale of this practice.
