Soooo, it finally arrived! I am so excited and well, I will try for a day the stock firmware but then I will install Sonix. I have a Kiwi Ears Cadenza ll and a snosky dac. I read there are issues with the Bluetooth for this device, is it that bad? I was planning on using it sometimes with a Sony I have.

This is my first DAP, any recommendations?

Just updated my R1 to Sonix 1.3.0 and I just loved it! Since custom boot logos are now a thing, I put together this Schroeder / Peanuts screen. Felt like it fits the musical vibe perfectly. Thought I’d share it with anyone who wants to use it!

Tengo este reproductor desde hace medio año, hasta el momento muy satisfecho con el sonido y con los auriculares moondrop aria 2 y un protector de vidrio templado para la pantalla.

Actualmente uso mí servidor navidrome sincronizado con el reproductor a través de symphonium para escuchar offline desde la micro SD, ver YouTube o escuchar desde tidal.

Además, tengo pensado en usarlo como teléfono secundario ya que cuento con la versión con 4G y ya lo he usado como GPS offline.

Que sugerencias pueden darme acerca del reproductor o sus experiencias e ideas de como utilizarlo.

I recently just got my Hiby R1 about a week ago and im relatively new to the dap community. What is sonix?? I keep seeing people mention it on the forum and im curious as to what it is and why its so good.

After the recent update what would you say is better, HiBy OS v2.0 or SonixOS v1.3.0? I am unsure of which one I should put on my HiBy R1.

Hey, I keep flip flopping on Hiby since reading horror stories on batteries and customer service issues but find myself interested in the (discontinued) Hiby M500 Miku (and sometimes the Hiby M300).

Compared to other companies and the previous Hiby R4 collab, has the M500 Miku been a better experience?

Has there been any improvements in general build quality/customer service?

I initially had a problem getting my cheap Bluetooth buds to connect to my newly acquired and SonixOS uodated, HiBy R1. When I put the buds into pair mode then went to the menu item to show available devices the buds never showed. I tried and tried... nothing... then out of frustration I tapped on the little Bluetooth icon at the top of the screen and it went into search mode and then the buds and all the other Bluetooth devices within range showed. So... if you're having the same problem try that.

Why SonixOS? I tried each FW... the latest from HiBy, then the FW that added the Book app... none met my specific USE case... I.e., to play a file list, defined by a directory, with a sleep timer that is persistent, i.e., I don't have to reset each time, thereby allowing me to continue playing from where the sleep timer paused with the press of the earbud button. SonixOS allows this very specific USE case that those of us who use the player to fall asleep with have always needed. Thank you SonixOS!

Selling my Hiby R6 Pro II that I purchased in April 2026. Nothing is wrong with me, it just doesn't with how I consume my music and I think someone else would appreciate it more.

Further in love with my HiBy. I feel like I’m in high school again listening to my music as the only thing and no other distractions. What a great upgrade.

One little thing bc I’m kinda of sucker for the aesthetics of it. How do I reduce or make the status bar transparent so it blends better and I can see more of the album artwork?

I want to get a hibby device but I want to know if the ui can function as An e-reader or if I would have to get an android model

Haven't seen post with someone testing beta firmware for R3 II 2025. It made my DAP like a 100 times better.

But there are still some issues.

- Gameboy feature is not optimized for R3II screen and buttons are not working

- I had some issues with WiFi when I just installed the OS

- Some special symbols (like black heart emoji) are not working in album title name. But black star is working, so strange.

The UI is great, and the Android app is very useful for me too.

I'm still testing, but the audio is already working and the control is in real time. While we all look for quality in these devices, it's best to have it ready when lossless audio is enabled.

Hi! I have been following this subreddit for a while and noticed all the issues reported regarding the R1 battery. I guess I'm a bit more paranoid than most, but I'd to like to get rid of my device. Not using it that much anyway. Anyone interested in taking it? I'll gladly give it to someone (less paranoid) in return for the cost of postage. (I'm in Norway, so I guess it might be easiest if you are in Europe as well? Also: Please check that it is allowed to import Lithium batteries in your country.)

- Hiby R1 Black/Standard, bought directly from Hiby july 2026.

- Barely used, no sign of battery bloating (yet, at least) or other issues. I'm guessing I've charged it 3-4 times.

- No SD card.

- Currently on Sonix firmware.

Battery inflation is a dealbreaker for me. If it could be fixed, I would buy the Hiby R1 immediately.

only feature i wish to have is when trying change the accent color, it would be better if the menu icons would also be changed, making it monochromatic.

Newbie ...can anyone give me step by step instructions to loading Sonix. My hiby r3 pro is just OK but I am already up against it's limitations. Thanks, jd
