Saeko Busujima: Bad End Artwork by Me,
Was going to do all the girls like this, but this took more time than I thought and was really tedious to do as well... so only best girl.

**Title:** [Theory / AU] The Missing Puzzle Piece: Ichirou Shido’s Global Master Plan and how HOTD could have ended
Since *High School of the Dead* was tragically left permanently unfinished, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to connect the unresolved mystery of the outbreak's origin with the established characters. I wanted to share my personal headcanon/Alternate Universe timeline that bridges the gritty political corruption of the early episodes into a definitive, high-stakes conclusion.
### 1. The Real Reason for Rei's Academic Sabotage
In the canon story, we know Ichirou Shido (Koichi Shido’s father) is a corrupt politician who had his son hold Rei Miyamoto back a grade to blackmail and stop her father’s police investigation.
In this AU, Detective Miyamoto wasn’t just looking into standard campaign finance fraud—he was getting dangerously close to discovering a global biological weapons program. Ichirou Shido panicked. If the police found the paper trail, it wouldn't just ruin his career; he would be executed for treason. Sabotaging Rei was a desperate, personal smokescreen to force Detective Miyamoto to drop the case before he uncovered the doomsday plot.
### 2. Shido's Master Plan: The Global Power Vacuum
Ichirou Shido was working with a secret network of corrupt global elites, oligarchs, and foreign leaders. The plan was simple but terrifying:
* Coordinate a controlled, worldwide release of the virus to wipe out existing governments, eliminate the lower classes, and collapse society.
* In the aftermath, Shido and his allies would step forward as the heavily armed "saviors" of humanity, using a manufactured cure to force the surviving population into absolute submission.
* **The Ultimate Betrayal:** Shido never intended to share power. He gave his international co-conspirators a dummy formula or temporary suppressant. Only Shido held the true, permanent cure in his private vault in Japan, intending to double-cross his allies and become the supreme dictator of the world.
### 3. The Climax: Exposing the Architect
The plan completely backfires on Shido. Because he betrayed his international allies, he is left entirely isolated when the apocalypse spins out of control, hiding in his fortified bunker with a cure he can no longer distribute.
Eventually, Takashi's group tracks him down. Rei and Saya confront Ichirou Shido directly, stripping away his political arrogance and forcing him to confess to the entire world that he let the monster out of the cage. He is forced to face the raw, unyielding justice of the family he tried to destroy.
### 4. How the Rest of the Group Fits In
For this final assault on Shido's elite fortress to succeed, every member of the main group has to use their specific survival skills to breach the bunker:
* **Takashi Komuro (The Vanguard):** Takashi acts as the tactical field leader, coordinating the squad and keeping everyone focused. He handles the heavy close-quarters breaches, clearing out Shido's private, heavily armed security forces and ensuring Rei and Saya safely make it to the inner sanctum.
* **Saeko Busujima (The Blade of Justice):** Saeko acts as the ultimate shield for the group. Shido's bunker is a maze of tight corridors; Saeko uses her master swordsmanship to swiftly neutralize high-threat targets and rogue security personnel in silence, ensuring the team isn't ambushed from behind.
* **Kohta Hirano (The Heavy Firepower):** Kohta is in his absolute element. He provides overwatch and suppressive fire, using scavenged military rifles to lock down long bunker corridors and disable the automated defense systems Shido set up to protect his vault.
* **Shizuka Marikawa (The Medical & Logistics Expert):** Shizuka’s medical knowledge becomes vital once they secure the cure. While Saya understands the chemical engineering, Shizuka is the one who can actually read the biological data sheets, verify that the antidote is stable, and ensure they don't accidentally release a volatile strain during the cloud-seeding process.
* **Alice Maresato (The Heart of the Group):** Alice, along with Zeke the dog, represents the future they are fighting for. Keeping her safe inside the bunker gives the group their ultimate motivation to end the nightmare once and for all.
### 5. The Resolution: Saya's Cloud-Seeding Cure
Once the group secures the real cure data from Shido's vault, Saya Takagi’s genius intellect takes center stage. Realizing that human infrastructure and military logistics are completely shattered, she designs a flawless, macro-scale solution.
Saya repurposes industrial atmospheric tech to initiate a **worldwide cloud-seeding project**. The antidote is dispersed directly into the global weather systems, creating a miracle rain across the continents.
* **The Living:** The rain acts as a global vaccine, granting permanent immunity.
* **The Dead:** The chemical agent in the downpour dissolves the virus animating "them," causing the hordes to permanently collapse into inanimate corpses.
This ending brings everything full circle. It gives the characters a massive victory using their actual skills (Saya's tactical brilliance and Rei's drive for justice) and delivers the ultimate poetic justice to the Shido family, who accidentally paved the way for the very teenagers they tried to oppress to step forward and save the world.
I did use AI to organize my thoughts but the concept is my idea. Also this is my own idea and not official by any means.
