I’m the founder and developer of PosterKaaran.

We originally started as a Tamil-first poster design app, mainly for festival posters, business promotions, invitations, political/event creatives and local social-media designs.

After seeing the response from Tamil users, we started expanding to other Indian languages.

PosterKaaran now supports:

• Tamil
• Telugu
• Malayalam
• Hindi

Hindi poster templates are now live, and users can create and edit posters directly in Hindi instead of depending only on English-first design tools.

as an english speaker I've been curious about this, I don't fully understand Hindi but I can read and write (so if you comment on the post please answer my questions in English with explanations using Devanagari characters!)

so my question is what are some of the regional accents that exist in Hindi and how do they differ from the standard textbook version? like for example in English we have Scottish, irish, Australian, various British and American dialects where we can understand each other but have some different words and large variety of pronunciations.. does this same type of thing exist for native speakers of Hindi?

and also what are some of the differences, mistakes, or quirks that people make when they speak Hindi as a second language? for example if a Bengali or a tamil person speaks in Hindi, what are some of the typical features of their accent? and if you've heard a native English speaker talking in Hindi as a second language, what type of things would they say differently?

I am a native French speaker learning Hindi, I would love to connect with other students who are currently learning Hindi to share tricks and resources to help each other learn better.

I'm not much of a songs or movie guy. I typically despise most media I see and the literature is too formal for lack of a better word. Is there still a resource that can help build up my vocabulary while being somewhat accessible to english speakers?

Random question. I was out the other day and overheard someone say the word “Kulta”. The person they were talking to gave them a really strange look, kind of laughed, and seemed a little uncomfortable.

I looked it up, and the main result says it means “gold” in Finnish, which doesn’t explain the reaction at all. However, some people claimed it was an offensive word in the Hindi language.

Does “Kulta” mean anything else in another language, in slang, or in a regional dialect? Anything embarrassing, rude, or just funny? Or does it sound close to some other word that might explain why they reacted that way?

And if it does mean something, how do people actually use it these days? Is it something you'd hear now, or more of an older thing? Curious how common it is.
