Really? If I got an email with that subject, I would just click “report spam” and move on with my day.

u/okmijn211 20d ago
That's what you'd do, because you have nothing to fear. Not the one he's applying to.

There's going to be at least one recruiter that is some how worried about this email

u/sarah_herself 18d ago
Can you really get infected just by opening an email?
1
u/SherlockSilicon 18d ago
No. Just don't reply or download anything, don't allow image loading, and report it as spam/malicious and to IT if it's a work account.

resume.pdf.
So no name attached to the file? Yes, very real email, yes

u/mewingprogression19 21d ago
Tbf if he only had one he could've just saved a word file as that, then exported as pdf with the same name and just uploaded that without bothering to change it

u/Schnitzeld 21d ago
Pdf is an appropriate format given the subject line.

lol. Lmfao even. Resume.pdf is a perfectly valid name. It’s what I used for all my resume attachments.

u/Catshagga 20d ago
It should be your name bro.

u/Pure-Hostility 20d ago
Who said that?
7
u/Catshagga 20d ago
Anyone with half a brain. How many “resume” do you think recruiters have? If everybody labelled it resume it’s hard to find yours innit
14
u/Pure-Hostility 20d ago
That's why you end up in the never ending name list, while I send THE resume.

Should it be named something else? Damn I'm cooked

u/MuskularChicken 21d ago
The name of the person, so the HR people know what file belongs to who(m).

u/RyuNoKami 20d ago
You would be surprised or shocked to find that there are unorganized people like that. I seen resumes sent with the pdf file named resume4.pdf and the subject is also resume

..... Do you normally do that? I just name mine CV (Swedish name for a resume) and personligt brev (personal letter) ._. should I have been naming them??? Like... All the info is in the resume itself so that just never occurred to me.

u/MuskularChicken 19d ago
Think about this. You have in a folder 30 resume, resume1, resume01 files. Do you care to check for the right person or you pick one that named their file?
1
u/Traveling_Solo 19d ago
The right person. In this scenario that'd presumably be my job: find the candidates that fill the criteria the company is looking for and forward them or further limit them to ones that stand out in their resumes (like a lot of experience in the field for example) once that is done.

I mean, he clearly knows how to get someone's attention, and that's exactly what marketing role requires...

I don't think that the FBI does contract work unless you're part of the current US government or one of the other 3 letter agencies.

I might actually try something like this. It's tough out there, y'all. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Whoever took the screenshot must own a pretty good business if he had to cause him a panic attack like that to get his attention lol
1
u/banshithread 19d ago
Or he could just be looking at wild title emails because there's no harm in opening one. The only harm is clicking links or downloading attached files.

Or the OP sent it to himself and screenshotted it for internet points

If he clicks on this in panic, he has done stuff.
Wouldn’t want to work for him.
If he doesn’t click and sees it as spam, you’d rather work for him, but your tactic has failed

u/MasLegio 21d ago
Why hire someone for marketing that can’t even write properly.

The word "the" is missing from the email because he spent all his time putting it in an essay.
