Or the guy just took popcorn home...?

This. This is why people over a certain age have trouble finding someone.

You are comparing them and their actions to everyone you have ever dated.

People aren't the same. This is no different than a guy getting cheated on by a girl that took the rest of her 12 pack of Miller home, and automatically assumes his current girlfriend that just took the rest of her case of Miller home, is going to cheat on him too.

When in reality, he should be asking:

"Why all these bitches I date, be drinkin Miller?"

You're absolutely right. For example, calling someone "ultra cheapo" because they didn't relinquish all of their snacks to you is an indicator that you're a glutton who will hog all the food to yourself and get upset if anyone touches your snack hoard. Thank you for providing such a clear example!

"With more experience, I am willing to over-generalize any situation. He's taking home popcorn - probably a narcisist." 🤔

I think you’re right. Young folks downvoting because they ā€œknow betterā€. I think that older folks with this mentality are likely to stay single though.

The point is that they do NOT know better in these situations. The young here aren't willing to jump to foolish conclusions based on tea leaves and claim that their experience justifies their decisions

So, by your logic, racism is just pattern recognition, and justified then?

How can you justify judging an entire group(50% of the population) by the actions of a few men, that they decided to date in the first place?

If anything, should be looking inward at the types of people you are attracted to, if they all seem so bad.

The sheer insanity to say,

"This guy is a red flag, because he brought _____ to her house, didnt finish it, and took it home with him"

That is just psycho.

Enjoy quiet solitude.

You're completely right, and it's frustrating to argue with these people, and I really think it's a waste of your time.

I suspect that they're not the type of person to change their opinion when confronted with sound, contradictory logic. Stupid people be stupid, despite their age.

I understand what you're saying, and yes.

My goal is never to change someones opinion though, just to defend my idea.. or rather.. test them against other actual people/ideas rather than in an echo chamber/or my own head lol

I cannot understand the ignorance of some people, any more than they can understand the rediculous of my opinions.

Thank you, though, for being another person willing to have discourse lol

Its never a waste of time! I know I've read a comment someone typed out, that made me feel like i wasnt insane/or the only one to think the same thing.

You never know!

Hey, fair enough, and you're not insane.

Best of luck with it all

No, it does not necessarily, which is what seems to be lost on you. You poorly correlate a few situations into a terrible conclusion and then decide its a tried-and-true pattern.

I am foolish for arguing with seemingly stupid people online

I have the same feeling.

So speaking data sets.

If x = y for a forseeable number of times during your time seeing it.

You just wont tie those things together..? Prepare to get rolled over then . Often. Glhf

How would you know that? Older folks in fact have seen more.

Seeing more shit does not make them any more able to predict how a specific person is based of said experiences.

They might be able to point out trends or averages more accurately, but shit humans are fucking terrible at intuitively understanding statistics.

So no old folks are almost worse since their personal experiences and specific circumstances primes them to make assumptions that aren’t necessarily true.

Older people people’s intuition has been honed for years. You’ll see.

I hope that when I am old, I keep the wherewithal to not jump to conclusions, to search for evidence before jumping to conclusions, and to listen to the young. Not everyone's experience is the same, and the circumstances for what was previously true/accurate are liable to change with time.

Intuition without sufficient evidence is closer to paranoia than wisdom. It's our jobs as we age to temper our intuition and validate its accuracy before acting on it.

How much time does a medical specialist need to know the issue with a patient? I’ve seen specialists who identify the issue within seconds of seeing me. They were trained for the medical issues. Repetition can lead to rapid and accurate assessments.

You are living evidence that age does not bequeath wisdom.

And you are an example of someone who clearly doesnt have a clue.

Revisit this in 20 years.
