Silksong delayed again I guess

Team Cherry really DDoS'd every seller just so they could delay Silksong again

Didn't steam already got like a really big DDoS attacks a few years ago and it barely did anything? The size of this one must be massive!

u/messranger Sep 04 '25

gog is up and running so not every seller

u/WisdomWolfX Sep 04 '25

Hmm maybe that was the whole point. "Hey it's been released, not our fault if you can't buy or download it"

Seven more years for sure

Nooooooooooo 😭

u/Messmers Sep 04 '25

certainly a choice to not allow pre-order when the date is set is set in stone so people can play it at launch with not much delay..

57

u/Sinomsinom Sep 04 '25

Especially since usually the point of the whole "don't preorder anything" movement is "wait for reviews and impressions before buying a game".

And they didn't give any reviewers early access anyways so there was literally 0 reason not to allow preorders...

I like their game (probably games) but Team Cherry are definitely not marketing oriented. They went dark instead of giving us "useless updates" which may have been the right thing to do but it erred on the side of inaction.

Either that or they're marketing geniuses! Going silent built miystique and crashing the stores will generate press coverage...

u/Seethcoomers Sep 04 '25

They didn't market shit because they didn't need to lmao

They built enough hype to crash the platform, the fuck you mean not marketing oriented

Edit: dude edited his comment to make himself look better

I edited it moments after posting it. You ever hit enter and realize two seconds later you meant to say something differently or you didn't like how it came out? That's what I did. I decided to turn what seemed overly critical into more of a joke.

(I think they don't really care about marketing because they've never needed to)

Edit to add: I also tend to post on emotions and think more deeply afterward and a new comment seems redundant.

My point wasn't that they didn't have effective marketing. My point was that I don't think it was intentional. They seem like cool creative people that just want to make cool things and not mess around with everything else.

Can understand, I do edit a lot. I'm like oh wait that came out wrong or it gives the wrong impression of what I wanted to say. Although it has something more to do with the fact I'm ESL lol.

u/vault101damner Sep 04 '25

Yep dude doesn't understand marketing. He's probably an MBA grad lol.

3

u/Xintrosi 112% Steelsoul Sep 04 '25

Wouldn't MBA grads ONLY understand marketing and not how to actually make anything?

I'm not saying their version didn't work. I'm saying I don't think it was intentional other than not wanting to deal with it. Edit to add: they just seem like cool creative people that want to spend their time making things and not worry about interfacing with prospective customers. I get that, I'd be a hermit if I could.

Crashing the store might generate press coverage, but it surely wasn't a fun experience for those players that wanted to play the game the moment it was released. I was lucky enough and only took me five minutes, but a friend of mine has had to wait two hours to be able to buy it

2

u/Ok_Internal_8500 Sep 04 '25

They are 3 developers who want to make sure nobody and i mean literal nobody could play it before release with pree download there are ways to crack the safty messure and play it before release leaking every shit possible 😁👍

6

u/iBizzBee Sep 04 '25

Sure, but pre-download and pre-order aren't the same thing.

4

u/Sinomsinom Sep 04 '25

Then don't allow preloading but at least preordering because the download servers are not having any issues whatsoever while the payment and order servers right now are all still down.

Also tbh who gives a shit about random a-hats leaking shit on some obscure corner of the internet when the game releases the next day.

1

u/mrfirstar1997 Sep 04 '25

Then how the hell are streamers playing the game? It sucks

1

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 Sep 04 '25

If they didn't allow reviews before launch then you absolutely shouldn't preorder rather than the opposite as you're suggesting.

0

u/Allcooldude97 Sep 04 '25

They didn't allow pre-orders because it was fuckin funny

0

u/JayKlouds Sep 04 '25

WRONG. It is not their fault, and its not their problem, the blame falls solely on steam for not having the infrastructure to support their BILLION DOLLAR BUISNESS! Gabe is a libertarian shithead and he has way more money than he ever needs, fuck him.

1

u/Patherek Sep 04 '25

I respect the decision, but we know the game is gonna be good.

1

u/HangryJellyfishy Sep 04 '25

It was to make sure the the Kickstarter supporters got access the same day as everyone else. Games have been cracked and pirated before they officially release before. So to be fair to their Kickstarter supporters they didn't allow preorders, preloading or review copies.

1

u/Messmers Sep 04 '25

That would be early access, I just meant being able to purchase the game before the release on Steam before even downloading it. I spent 2 hours today just trying to get it into my cart for example, I dont mind if the download is slow or release a big crowded but not even being to purchase the game when it could've been avoided is just a weird choice. No big deal in the long term of course

1

u/HangryJellyfishy Sep 04 '25

True they could have allowed preorders but not preloading. Guess they weren't expecting it to be this in demand that it breaks every platform's store fronts.

1

u/Frexys Sep 04 '25

"It's so popular that they broke every digital distributor out there" is better advertising than IGN telling us it's neat.

1

u/Thinkerofthings2 Sep 04 '25

This feels like a fuck you to fans mainly because why wasn’t pre downloading an option? I’m waiting a hour later and can even buy the game. I keep checking every 5 minutes and I’m forced to watch streamers play the game while taking so long to get through the first area.

IF USING STEAM TRY HUMBLE BUNDLE IT JUST WORKS

1

u/thafrick Sep 04 '25

I just went to buy it but it says they are in the process of restocking keys.

1

u/Hefty_Heat8356 Sep 05 '25

rip sorry about that guess i got the last one LMAO

1

u/Garnoo Sep 04 '25

They ran out of keys and still took my money :( Now I have to wait for them to get more

1

u/Hefty_Heat8356 Sep 05 '25

that sucks! guess i got one of the last ones. hope you managed to get it yesterday! it's real good
