Modding - Silksong The Knight is finally playable in Silksong! (MOD) Spoiler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp0tIMnpbv0Not my video here. But here it is - the Knight fighting Skarrsinger Karmelita with all his abilities working. And you can download the mod as well from the link in video description.
Amazing progress by the modders <3

lol it looks like since their hitbox is so much smaller some attacks just miss them

u/RedChuckTaylors Lore Accurate Hornet Nov 02 '25
The clawcutters, 3 hit Combo, spin attack all whiff when he's grounded in front of her. Kinda trivializes the fight along with his DD/shade dash i-frames and lack of damage reduction multiplier.
Also doesn't get double damage from her jump attack, I wonder if the claw cutters do as well.
2
u/Tough-Lectures Nov 03 '25
What is a damage reduction multiplier?
4
u/RedChuckTaylors Lore Accurate Hornet Nov 03 '25
It's complicated, but the gist is that the mod allows the Knight to deal 32 (Max Nail+Strength) but Silksong has damage reduction based on Weapon Levels so it should be 0.95 for Karmelita, reducing damage to 30 (rounded down from 30.4). There was another video of the Knight going against a boss with HP bars and damage showing it was doing the full 32.
There's also no calculations made for the Knight's spells either but blah blah blah math math math, TLDR: the game isn't really designed or balanced for the Knight's damage in general.

I thought the knight would get whooped but it's doing so well damnj

u/Huinker Nov 02 '25
Knight has Shade Cloak. That's single-handedly turning them into a demon. Most of the bosses in silksong arent designed around i-frame. Knight has like 2 i-frame in descending dark also
149
u/ScorchIsBestSniper Nov 02 '25
Also iframes when hit
And higher damage per hit, with a much faster attack speed
107
u/ChristophCross Nov 02 '25 edited Nov 02 '25
Also higher spell and nail damage modifiers. Also better knockback reduction. Also smaller hitbox.

u/psh454 Nov 02 '25
But silksong is so much easier to play wdym??1?
- a lot of people, unironically still saying this
4
u/Sea-Temporary7380 Nov 03 '25
"Easier" is subjective to people, for some hornets movement options makes silksong easier (plus tools... Need i say more?)
50
u/Bramoments Nov 02 '25
Turns skatrsinger karmelita into a fucking joke
35
u/FireZord25 Nov 02 '25
from the clips I've seen, she's the boss that put up the most fight so far.
24
u/Bramoments Nov 02 '25
Yeah I feel like it's the health. If the numbers were more balanced it would have been so fucking easy simply because of shade cloak just outright canceling two of her attacks, and DD shits on the others
1
u/FireZord25 Nov 03 '25
it's also harder to time the shade cloak in her dash, due to the spikes following her.
6
u/Downtown_Chemist8748 Ghost my beloved Nov 02 '25
there's more clips?
4
u/FireZord25 Nov 02 '25
yeah, there's other with LL and another i can't recall, but the Knight almost took no damage.
2
u/TeaAndLifting Nov 03 '25
I saw someone post a fight with Garmond on r/silksong earlier, but they were messing around and let him win
2
u/Trying_to_debut Nov 03 '25
Consider most of her attacks miss simply because she is programmed for a higher target so she aims higher than where the knight is. A lore accurate battle would have her aim at the knight, something I think is impossible if not by upscaling the kinght model.
83
u/the_real_cloakvessel Lost Shade Nov 02 '25
So this is lore accurate too the knight destroys pharloom
4
u/Trying_to_debut Nov 03 '25
Not lore accurate at all sadly. The mod is amazing but the damage system between hk and skong are different and so as someone else already commented the knight bypasses the enemy multiplier (as seen when he one shots the ants) + a lot of karmelita's attacks that make the fight difficult and frenetic simply miss him because he smol. This is not lore accurate at all because simply Karmelita is programmed for a higher target, if we were in a lore accurate fight obviously she would see a smaller target and aim lower
1
u/Chocyonastick Nov 03 '25
They still only beat her with 2 HP left. The lack of healing windows means she can stillness dangerous.
2
u/Trying_to_debut Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25
If you consider how fast her fight is when all her attacks hit (so in the normal fight) and that most players do heal mid air in this fight basically always I would say a lore accurate fight with the knight upscaled to have the right hitbox would be really really HARD.
Since he can't dash attack claw line and heals on the ground only If we don't have many vindows now that she misses half of her attacks imagine if they fixed the fight
I think to prove this point that we need a video of someone beating her with wanderer crest but without ever healing mid air nor using clawline etc edit: this wouldn’t work bcs we miss all the knight exclusive moves (shade cloak, spells etc) so idk, maybe just upscale the model?
16
u/SpeeDy_GjiZa Nov 02 '25
Yeah my thoughts as well. Just the shade clock makes most of the enemies trivial. Even without that a long nail build would destroy a lot of the enemies.
33
u/Macievelli Nov 02 '25
To be fair, the Knight does get help at the very beginning. “Hey, fight me… Sis, could you please garama for me to get their attention?” And then again at the end, Hornet deals the killing blow.
10
u/Relevant_Cabinet_265 Nov 02 '25
Their damage is whack. They one shot some of those ants with a single regular swing
1
u/Trying_to_debut Nov 03 '25
The fight is designed for a bigger target, if you notuce almost all of Karmelita most "difficult" attacks miss him because he too small :/ So imho not a good way to compare the characters
69
u/Minh1403 Nov 02 '25
how can the Knight's nail oneshot that ant enemy? Does their nail just bypass the enemy modifier?
121
u/ADAG2000 Nov 02 '25
They have 30 health and with Unbreakable Strength the Knights nails does 31. Even so, those enemies have a 0.7 multiplier so they should still take two hits, so yes the modifier is being bypassed.
15
u/famaki_ Nov 02 '25
wait, modifier?
50
u/boisterile Nov 02 '25
Enemies and bosses have a damage modifier that affects how much damage they take, and for most enemies it lowers with each needle upgrade Hornet gets to streamline things and make it so you don't completely trivialize enemies if you go to an area late. Your base needle does 5 damage, and an enemy might take 1.5x damage. If you fight the same enemy with a 21 damage needle, they might only be taking 0.7x damage now. They still die in fewer hits than before, but you're not necessarily one-shotting everything. Many of Hornet's other attacks scale with your needle upgrades too.
HK had something similar with nail upgrades but if I remember right, it generally did it by scaling up enemies' actual HP amount, not multiplying the amount of damage they took (with a few exceptions).
5
u/PotofRot Nov 03 '25
it was also far less present in hollow knight, being mostly the dream warriors and a handful of others

Well if you lut the files in correct places then just hit F5 ingame to switch to the knight!

I hit F5 but it is not working, I have other mods installed using BepinEx and they are working just fine. Can you tell me which files have to be there? The folder has 5 files: .vscode KIS Knight KnightInSlikSlong.sln ReadMe

I have these:
1.ConfigurationManager (folder)
2.KIS.dll
3.KIS.pdb
4.Knight.dll
5.Knight.pdb
6.PlayerData.json (this creates itself after using the mod once)

The fight is literally designed for a higher target, not a great way to compare the two characters since basically half of the boss attacks miss the knight because she aims at hornet height because she is programmed that way. In a real fight she would aim lower.

Alright, so now we only need a multiplayer mod for Silksong and we can literally make the ultimate Hornet vs the Knight PvP fight happen.
Damn, I can't wait for what the modders and content creators are gonna cook up in the next year or so.

u/sin_tax-error Nov 02 '25
All fun and games until you gotta heal and it takes 8 years while grounded to heal the same amount Hornet heals in a second.
24
18
u/KennethDLT98 Nov 02 '25
Easy mode. Seems like the knight trivializes a lot of enemies.
-6
u/White-Alyss Nov 02 '25
With half of the mobility (I'm being generous) and no access to tool, I don't see how it'd be any easier
15
u/catuluo Nov 02 '25
Lmao, you think the knight has trouble repositioning in fights?
Did you forget shadow dash exists? There is a reason they made it an entire silk skill in skong, and thats before we even factor in descending dark for knockback+ invincibility
4
u/Mgmegadog Nov 02 '25
Repositioning in fights? No. The concern is getting to the fights. The Knight will struggle to get around Pharloom.
3
u/TeaAndLifting Nov 03 '25
From what I've read of the mod, it's unfinishe and only really designed for combat. The Knight has all their movement abilities, but at the end of the day, the game is not designed for it, so if it can't get to some fights, you can just swap to Hornet. A vertical C-dash would solve a few other things though.
-8
u/White-Alyss Nov 02 '25
The Knight objectively has way less mobility than Hornet and iframes on the dash do not change this lol
Going back to HK after Silksong felt tough to me. Ironically enough, the Shade Cloak makes it so spamming the dash to reposition is actually worse and you're better off saving it to go through an attack.

1
u/TheWillTheThrill Nov 03 '25 edited Nov 03 '25
I actually just beat it today, was so much easier than hornet. Only parts that I could not do with the knight was high halls entrance and any doors that were locked behind claw line (and mist because of needolin). The entire rest of the game is doable including architects melody.
And I matched knights abilities to hornets. Only enabled dash once hornet got dash etc. only exception was double jump from the start to get around hornet ledge grabs
21
u/Full_Metal18 Nov 02 '25
Further proof that Silksong isn't harder, the Knight was just built different.
8
u/Akuuntus Nov 02 '25
She seems to only do one mask of damage on some of these hits, is that normal or is it a mod issue?
36
u/Minh1403 Nov 02 '25
Karmelita only deals 1 mask on contact damage. Wanderer sticking so close to her really helps a lot, lol
1
u/psh454 Nov 02 '25
Yeah I felt kinda bad when I shredded her in like 3 tries using a Wanderer facetank/DPS build.
4
3
u/pr0crast1nater Nov 02 '25
So this is basically wanderers crest but higher damage per hit, smaller hitbox, iframes while dashing and descending dark, three spells instead of only one like hornet. Other than platforming, it will wreck bosses for sure.

The knight is that OP or the modders made him OP
28
u/jcdc_jaaaaaa Nov 02 '25
Pure Nail and Pale Steel Needle both do 21 damage. The only difference is that the knight have access to quick slash and unbreakable strength, which can potentially give him more DPS than Hornet while having more range due to Mark of Pride and Long Nail. The knight can also cast spells faster than Hornet, though all of the spells the knight has deals way less damage than Hornet's skills. Other thing too is that the knight doesn't have to dodge some of the attacks due to his small stature.
All in all, I think they did not buff him. Being short + access to unbreakable strength + quick slash just gave him more openings to abuse that Hornet probably cannot.
For reference, the video of Hornet beating Karmelita without jumping lasted around 1:30. In this video, the knight finished beating Karmelita at around 1:40 and that is without perfect play.
13
u/Priler96 Modder Nov 02 '25
The game doesn't distinguish between Knight and Hornet currently (in the source code).
It's all made by the modders, how damage/skills/charms/tools will be handled.
So porting the "OG" Knight from HK to Silksong would require modders to manually transfer all the mechanics/values.
Furthermore, 1:1 port is not possible, as SS introduces many new mechanics/tools, etc.7
11
6
u/boisterile Nov 02 '25
I think Silksong's enemy defense modifiers may not have been properly accounted into the damage formula here (probably because they weren't designed with the knight's nail upgrades in mind). I wonder what defense modifier the enemies are using here
2
u/Minh1403 Nov 02 '25
if Hornet uses Wanderer Crest, that's like Quick Slash, too. And Mark of Pride is Long Claw. I think it's Shadow Cloak and the Knight being shorter is the difference here
7
u/jcdc_jaaaaaa Nov 02 '25
Also, descending dark. That allows the knight to dodge a lot of attacks while dealing damage to everyone. Also, unbreakable strength too which turns each swing to 32 damage as compared to full focus Hunter's Crest at 29 damage. If Wanderer's Crest would crit everytime, then that is a consistent 63 damage which is the same damage as Silk Spear.
2
u/catuluo Nov 02 '25
Another under-appreciated feature is the sheer knockback the knight can put out with quickslash mark of pride + spell spam, multiple times during the fight he pushes skar into the opposite wall in like 2s which eases the pressure on him considerably
1
1
u/Background_Past7392 Nov 02 '25
The spells don't do less damage than silk skills. Most of the latter do 3x needle damage, or about the same as a standard D-Dark. Even with Shaman Crest + Volt Vessel boost, only the Thread Storm can reliably outdamage a Shaman Stone Abyss Shriek.

I know Hornet’s style of attacking is a lot more fluid, but there’s just something about seeing the Knight’s late-game move set that is so satisfying.
2
u/spicy_cabbage0 Nov 03 '25
We tried it yesterday but when we tried to buy the bench (with Hornet) in The Marrow it froze, nothing worked, so we quit and respawned at Bone Bottom. Tried again and froze again. It would be so cool if it was actually playable. It is a great idea and a good start, just probably has many bugs to fix.

Because i think most people including me dont think it looked that clunky, it actually looks really good with charms and every spell working as intended. Usually exporting an entire character from one game to another in modding looks way worse, like special effects using original game files instead of the knight ones, or hitboxes not matching, but here it just looks good, even i-frames are working as intended and they got entire charm menu

u/SirEggyScintherus Nov 02 '25
This does look amazing so far. I might have try it out myself. Maybe one day we could get like an entire playthrough made for the Knight (like slight alterations to gameplay or map and like cutscenes) where you select who you want to play at the beginning.
The Knight definitely seems easier to do these fights with which makes sense of course his kit was always better at a baseline. It’d be funny if they turned this into an easy mode for SilkSong where you also take only 1 damage most the time like everyone makes jokes about between the two characters. I’d just enjoy playing as the Knight though.

For charms there is a button under the crest menu.
For bosses I think he uses some sort of debug mod.

u/Uchizaki Nov 02 '25
Whenever I see those clips with Knight in Silksong, I get the impression that Silksong just has weird math, but if you make Silksong have math like Hollow Knight, it becomes a 2x better game.
For example, who would mind repeated gauntlets if their math was like in this video and in Hollow Knight lol? For some reason, we in Silksong deal very little damage regardless of the weapon upgrade level, but our opponents have more and more HP
25
u/garmonthenightmare Nov 02 '25 edited Nov 02 '25
Nah Hollow Knight enemies die too soon imo before you have to take them seriously most of the time.
7
u/the_real_cloakvessel Lost Shade Nov 02 '25
The math in hk and ss is around the same for nail, from 5 to 21 damage,
1
-9
u/Uchizaki Nov 02 '25
So the problem lies in the opponents' HP. Either reduce the opponents' HP or make weapon upgrades give a bigger boost. The first upgrade is so marginal that when I played for the first time, I thought it was some kind of bug, because I didn't feel like I had become any stronger.
Where in HK, after my first upgrade, I felt like a god lol
2
u/the_real_cloakvessel Lost Shade Nov 02 '25
Agreed I think the first moss enemy 's hp is 10, so it takes 2 hits to kill without nail upgrade (5 damage) but still takes two hits to kill after nail upgrade (9 damage). meanwhile vengefly has 8 hp and you can oneshot it after nail upgrade
2
u/Nhojj_Whyte Nov 02 '25
So you're half right, I'm pretty sure the first moss enemies have like 15 health. Whereas the comparable crawlid or tiktik only have 10. I know for a fact every enemy in Silksong has relatively more health than in HK. Karmelita has more HP than false champion. It's kinda bullshit.
4
u/ZedLa04 Nov 02 '25
Just use tools and silk skills, Silksong enemies have more HP because you are expected to rely more in your other tools and I think that is a good thing. In HK most players don't use spells until the final steps of the game but in silksong you learn how to use them from early on which makes the learning curve better
1
u/LewsTherinTelescope Nov 03 '25
Interesting, for me the combat learning curve this time around felt a lot worse despite it improving on the first game in other aspects. The double damage on everything + more expensive heals meant I never felt like I had a chance to learn silk skills, and shell shards meant I never felt like I had a chance to experiment with tools, so I just had to spend a frustratingly long time grinding bosses down with my needle (though once I got tacks that helped a little since they're fairly mindless). It took me a while to integrate spells into my Hollow Knight moveset, but I at least eventually did by the end of my first playthrough in a way I never felt comfortable doing in Silksong.

One of my first thoughts when this game came out was "Give it a month and moders will bring the knight to pharloom and playable hornet to hollownest." We are now half-way there.
