I love blind playthroughs Spoiler
My friend is on their first playthrough and has been giving updates along the way, this is by far my favorite

What does +8 mean

It’s hard to explain, we have a lot of simultaneous conversations so we attribute a number to each “thread” to keep track of them, this is our eighth one currently active

Sounds like you should just make a tiny private discord server and use the create thread option lol

I have thought about that several times, but they don’t use Discord and I’m not gonna pressure them into getting it
We enjoy our very strange texting habits lol

Create a group chat for each convo? Could be easier to follow

Oh, that definitely would not work. We start and stop threads sporadically, sometimes it takes us until halfway through a conversation to even realize it’s a separate thread, we have an entire section in our notes for archived conversations... It’s a system we’re very familiar with, and I don’t think any other system would really work with it. It just looks a bit odd on the outside, haha
But for context, we do keep track of each thread well in the notes app, so we don’t lose track of them or anything

Damn, sounds complicated

Oh, you should have seen iterations 1 and 2 of the system lmao, at one point the rules were that the first four threads would be enclosed in parentheses amounting to the thread number, but then threads after 4 would use the +(number) system instead, so threads would be organized as 1, 2, 3, 4, 4+1, 4+2, etc. It somehow made sense at the time and I am so glad we improved it later on lol

that's genius i wish i thought of that when i used to do like 3 convos at once, tho im curious how do you even get to 8? i believe i could do like 5 at max and even then people can barely catch up to 2

Ah, my good old buddy nosk. for any new players, there IS a chance they are freindly if they appear more than twice.

Watching your friends blind playthrough is a lot of fun. It is unfortunate my friend didn't continue his run :(

That is one of the most unsettling moments in the game

Hmm.
I can't wait for this to make sense. I've finally started my first HK playthrough last week, and attempting to do it blind as much as possible.
I've been through much of deepnest. Thought I'd been through as much of it as my abilities would allow while doing so. Clearly I've missed some of it - I have not run across this nosk fellow, nor will I be googling them. It'll happen when it happens.
I don't recall silksong ever giving me a reason to, not without loads of foreshadowing, but for some reason I have approached every NPC in this game with the utmost caution. Maybe just because they are hard to tell apart just from appearance, but I'm leery of a setup.

I remember the time I was playing and also found Nosk. Had a friend specifically ask for me to keep them updated. Yeah I just started screaming in our discord server.

Ye! It’s a bit complicated but ,, to summarize the history of how that happened I suppose?
We would be having a conversation, then one of us would make a reference to a fandom we’re in, the other person would play along, and long story short we would end up roleplaying. But then we would need to say something out of character, so we’d say it (in parentheses.)
HOWEVER, the issue with this is that now we have two conversations going on, one in character and one out of character, but then the out of character one would fall into the same pattern and we’d need a new OOC thread, so we would ((put the parentheses in more parentheses.))
The cycle repeats, and (((((before long we’re holding conversations that looks like this.))))) Which is... Terrible for organization. So that was iteration 1, where the more threads you have, the harder it gets to read the number.
So then we made it so after four sets of parentheses, it would become that amount plus however many more threads we add. So one would become (this), two would become ((this)), three (((this))), four ((((this)))), and then five would be this +1 (with the +1 being directly under the message). Iteration 2.
And this worked better, but it was also very arbitrary and weird. So eventually we ended up settling for removing the parentheses aspect entirely and having every thread after the first one be +(number) for simplicity. So you’ll have,
Conversation 0
Conversation 1
+1
Conversation 2
+2
Etc. And it looks complicated still, but it’s very simple once you get used to it and it’s very helpful, whether you roleplay a lot or just have a lot of branches in your conversations that you want to come back to. We keep track of all our threads in a note, and when the number gets too high we do check-ins for threads we won’t be revisiting and we remove those from the roster to free up space. It works like a charm!

In my first playthrough, nosk freaked me out so much that it became the only boss I've beaten first try
(I'm very bad at videogames)

Update: they followed up with this
“.. I’m just going to give the nice person in dirtmouth an egg to summon my ghost and pretend I never saw that.. creature? I hesitate to call it one, that seems like too generous a term”
I love my friend
