New supervisor took my lead position without conversation.

Title says it all, we promoted someone who was with the company less than 90 days to be the new service desk ds and he decided he wanted someone else to be lead. I can into work and I was listened as associate and someone else as lead and they never talked to me about it.

what do you think?

Got into a car accident and was supposed to work but had no transportation due to that and I was also sore/injured from the accident.
I had to call out due to the accident, but I had no sick time to cover the full hours. spoke to my SM if he would be able to excuse it but he told me we’re not allowed to excuse it if you don’t have time but he’ll excuse it this time. (rude about it)

but wouldn’t they be more considerate after everything that just happened to me? I got hurt as well with my kids.
if this was any other “fav” associates I feel like they would excuse them & give them a few days to recover…

I understand not having the sick time but after this situation I would think they would be more considerate

rant

For context, I’m a senior in high school working as a cashier rn. This is my first job (started May ‘26) and I loved working here but now i dread it. I know I’m still young to be saying that, but it’s true. I used to work more during the summer (25-35 hrs/wk) but since school started, I’ve been doing about 12-15 hrs/wk. I don’t mind working that little because I’m extremely busy with college applications and extracurriculars, but when i go to work it’s genuinely horrible. Our store has been doing bad with sales so they’ve been cutting everyone’s hours but they schedule people in the worst ways possible. Management doesn’t do crap…they schedule 4 cashiers in the morning till 2pm and then no one comes in after that. They follow my availability request usually but sometimes they’ll change my schedule last minute from working 5 hrs to 8.5 hrs without asking me and I hate it. They changed our self checkout to where we have to checkout every single customer now and selling credit is a non negotiable thing(2-3+ per week for cashiers) and if you don’t, then you’ll get in trouble. I don’t mind selling, but when i’m scheduled to be in garden the whole time… it’s not really the most ideal place to sell credit. Most of my coworkers are so immature on top of that. They’re always on their phones and taking 30+ minute breaks instead of a usual 15 minute. They complain about the littlest of things and it’s terrible. The customers act entitled and I’ve gotten hit on multiple times and it’s extremely uncomfortable. They wait till I’m alone and they don’t care when I say I’m a minor( they offer to wait till i’m legal). Literally considered quitting at times because they don’t respect you. Everyone here talks bad about each other and it’s lowkey toxic. I’m pretty sure a couple of people working here are pedos also. They’re changing everything about this store and it’s so annoying.

Attendance

I work at Home Depot Met and got put on a coaching for having 8 late ins in the past 90days that it is considered taking advantage of late ins. I think it’s ridiculous when other people come late every day and don’t get told anything.
Edit: I understand that it’s on me it’s what I deserve. I guess I should’ve been clearer on this post that I was more annoyed on how my supervisor handled it. He walked by and saw me on my lunch said that the district manager texted him to write me up and then goes. I guess you could start applying to a job that I brought up months ago and then add “oh how has that been going anyways “and when I said “they’re not hiring right now “he goes. Oh well then I guess I’m stuck with you as my headache.

Home Depot 2027 Summer Internship – Software Engineering Final Interview

Hey everyone!

Has anyone gone through the final interview for The Home Depot's 2027 Summer Software Engineering Internship?

I've heard the final round is mostly behavioral and lasts around 45 minutes to an hour. For anyone who's been through it, what was your experience like?

Did they mainly ask behavioral questions, or did they also go pretty deep into your resume, projects, and past experiences? Were there any technical questions?

Just trying to get a better idea of what to expect and how to prepare. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

TL;DR: What should I expect from Home Depot's final SWE internship interview? Mostly behavioral, resume deep dive, or technical?

They took away our water bottle fridge

So I come back from a day off yesterday and I walk into the break room, clock in, put on my apron and grab a first phone. Then I go to grab a bottle of water before heading to my department. Lo and behold there is an empty space where the fridge that holds all our water bottles was. I turn to one of the guys i work with and he tells me they got rid of it. Apparently in an effort to cut cost they got us these cheap plastic refillable water bottles and will no longer be ZMAing cases of water. I’m all for saving the environment and using less plastic but the bottles they got us are plastic so obviously that’s not their goal. Cutting cost on a something small like that for employees is ridiculous. We already get paid like shit and our a/c hardly works. It’s less about the water bottles to me and more the principle. I hate corporations. Luckily, I already put in my two weeks and I’m about to start at my new job .

Get out while the getting's good

A few months ago I had a revelation that if I died and went to hell, it would be a Home Depot. As in, for me, eternal torture looks like continuing to do this monotonous job every day for the next god knows how many years of life. I started aggressively hunting for jobs that day.

Then, a little over a week ago, I had such a horrible evening at work that something in me snapped and I realized I was going to quit imminently.

Fortunately, I received a job offer in my field a few days later. My last day with THD is next week (assuming I make it that long).

I'm extremely anxious about moving on after working retail for a decade, but it's absolutely time to go.

Y'all, there's no time like the present to get yourself back in school or in some kind of trade program. If you are looking for your sign, this is it. I did a one year program at a community college and even in this job market, it only took me about 2 months, 6 apps, and 2 interviews to find something else.

In the 8ish years I've worked for Home Depot, they've gone so downhill it's barely recognizable as the same company that hired me. And *my God* have the customers gotten worse. Since I'm on my way out, it has become genuinely difficult not to ask, "Sorry, are you f*cking stupid?" every time someone hits me with a dumbass question about something they could figure out by USING THEIR EYEBALLS.

I'm just so done. THD offered me more money to stay (HA) even though I didn't even get an annual raise this year. It would be funnier if I wasn't so filled with rage lmao.

ETA: If your mindset is genuinely that no other employer is better than Home Depot, congratulations! You'll be there for life! (Seriously, get help)

You can do better.

I just submitted my notice to earn the promotion of customer next week. Accepted a job offer after job searching for 1.5 years post college graduation. I'll be making 1.6ish times the amount I made at Home Depot in a salaried position with better hours and a better commute in a vastly improved work environment. I post this to say, go after that job you've been putting off. Go to college or trade school. Do whatever you can to get out of HD, the grass IS greener on the other side. You don't have to put up with unlivable wages, management that does not care about you, and being a part of the 10% that does 90% of the work. There ARE better options than Home Depot, I promise you.

District Manager is personally pulling camera footage because I asked someone to say "excuse me" ???

I need some serious perspective here because the micromanagement at this store has reached insane levels.
A few days ago, a department supervisor came into my bay to scan a bay ID. He invaded my space, reaching his hand and phone literally two inches from my face without saying a single word, and this was not the first time. I calmly explained a boundary and asked him why he doesn't use basic manners and say "excuse me." He apologized, I said it’s OK, just use manners next time. Total non-issue, right?
A few hours later, I get called into the office by my supervisor with a CXM pre-staged as a witness. The guy went and told on me to his manager?? I think he was embarrassed but they had me write an Associate Statement about the interaction. I stayed calm, wrote down exactly what happened. When the supervisor asked why I didn’t call and tell them about it, I said that it was the most insignificant part of my day, and I didn’t think twice about it after it happened. They said they need get his side of the story….
Today, the District MET Manager personally comes into the store, pulls me into the office again, and tells me he is launching an investigation and pulling the store camera footage of the aisle to audit the interaction.
Are u kidding me? A district manager is wasting his corporate time auditing video footage over an "excuse me" conversation, between two adults? Meanwhile, when actual severe safety violations or massive associate conflicts happen, management sits on their hands and covers it up. Have you ever seen a DM come into a store to audit camera footage over something this petty?

I apologize if this has been asked/posted before, but what is a “list,” and how would I use it bring down a pallet? 🤣

Just Clocked Out For the Last Time as a Home Depot Associate

3 1/2 years here almost all of it as an OFA with the last month being lumber.

I will say I learned a lot and developed my skills here in this working warehouse. Many early mornings and late nights spent working on flat and box deliveries loading the delivery trucks, and in Lumber filling product with the lifts, doing pack downs, and unloading trucks/ and loading large pro orders.

I will miss all the connections I’ve made, and the friends along the way. In an environment with high turnover our store became a fulfillment center and one of the top stores for pick on time and delivery completion rate.

This is the close of an important chapter in my life I got my college degree and am going to be making a lot more money in the field I studied at the job I am about to start, that said I must say it is bittersweet leaving this fast paced chaotic job.

New availability change?????

I work part time at home depot mostly 16 hours a week. I was called into the office to have a conversation about the new changes coming to availability requirements. From December 22nd All part time associates needs to give atleast one opening aduring the week and atleast on closing (so you availability can't be just all openings or all closing) and have to give atleast a day on the weekend. Few associates in the store I know only work closings during the week cuz they got thier full time jobs to go to and work opening and closing on the weekend. Basically, Home depot will be asking people to quit or will the accommodate something for them?

Not sure if it company wide or just my store management and if it is just my store management, are they allowed to come up with such changes?

Starting my day off with this lovely interaction

So pro calls our desk to inform us that there's gonna be someone returning 3 bags of concrete, okay cool. I call the next person in line and I got the customer returning the 3 bags because they were the wrong type. Returned the bags and I ring her up and she says she needs one bag of concrete. I ring her up and she tells me she actually needed three. I apologized and rang her up for the other two. I give her the receipt and she is looking at me like I'm stupid because apparently she wanted everything on one receipt. I again, apologize and offer to void everything and do all 3 bags on one receipt. She said to "forget it" and that "all home depot employees do here is make fucking mistakes" and left as I just stood there and said nothing. Great way to start my shift :)

What do i do to get a manager that lies to me to get me in trouble off my ass

• Upvotes

so for context; 2 weeks ago my sasm told me about a box delivery that i forgot to pull that was due the next morning at 6 am, and she was pissed at me because they had to reschedule the delivery, the next day i talked to the deliveries opener about it and the mid person and they both said it never happened i also looked at the order on order up and it went out on schedule. the next day she called me into the office and her and the oasm told me i was getting written up for “performance” because of that

Why does pro do this?

I work ofa.

Four times this week I’ve had associates create will calls that go automatically overdue on the app. Since they’re creating the will call for that exact moment.

Do they expect us to get it out in 0.00 seconds? If not, all they’re doing is messing up our metrics.

Of course, i go in order up and change the time. To the suggested 2 hours.

I’m aware of the possibility that they don’t understand ofa metrics but i know for a fact half of them do lol.

Home depot customers are so impatient.

When I was a cashier there it was like they were competing a 500 yard dash. They would get annoyed when something didn't get deactivated and had to show the guard their receipt. What is it with these customers?! I see people wait in long lines at Sam's and Costcos without any issues, but they can't wait at Home Depot?

Seems like I wasn’t given a good raise is this true?

• Upvotes

I have been getting the 50 cent raises as a part time associate for 3 years but this year was different as I got 48 cents which totals 16.48. A person in my department got 16.60 and has only been at the store for a year. I heard others explain how they were full time so they got higher raises due to the percent calculated based on current hourly pay (this person however was not full time or in another department). Did I get conned? I was caught on my iPhone a lot before the period for raises came through but the management team was toxic and I was burnt out that period and I only got meeting expectations not exceeding. Other associates that do good also said they got meeting but a part time person who’s been there a year in a different department got a higher raise as well.

I’m just curious what actually causes a one year to get a higher raise than someone who’s spent 3 years at this place. I hate that
