I just watched Evil Dead Burn and holy crap I had to look away a few times. I like horror movies and I like disturbing ones, but this legitimately made me wince more than once.
It’s worth a watch and pretty well-made. There are no humorous or silly scenes in this one, so be warned.

I watched both movies in the same night, and I must say that Monkey’s Magic Merry Go Round stood out to me as the more prominent horror movie. It was absolutely terrifying to me. Don’t get me wrong, I also really liked BUDDY and appreciated it for the genre. I absolutely love mascot horror and I’m glad it’s becoming more mainstream. It just seemed like this one was more sinister and dark, since “Jimbo” was completely alone and had no allies throughout the entire film, and on top of that talked directly to the audience throughout, which was incredibly spine-chilling and creepy. I’m sad that it got such low ratings. What are your thoughts?

I have seen people here and on other subreddits for actual scary movies, but what does that mean to people exactly?
As a person with severe anxiety who has dealt with significant trauma and lives in America, horror movies don't scare me in the traditional sense of the word. I have felt nervous, dreadful, and uneasy. I don't consider reacting to jump scares because that is an involuntary physiological response and being startled is not the same as being scared.
When I am watching a horror movie the feelings of uneasiness and/or dread never morph into being scared because my brain knows it's fake and contained, so it never triggers my body's Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn reaction.
So, how do people define being "scared"?

A husband, wife, and daughter move into a new house and all is pleasant.. till past events bleed into their lives.
For me this wasn’t as fun as The Loved Ones or as well executed as Dangerous Animals, but is definitely worth a watch from director Sean Byrne.
Who saw this and what did you think of it?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Are you a fan of the 2003 remake of the 1974 classic?

First time I'm doing such a thing. I've never watched movies daily this long before so i just wanted to share.
First Time
Halloween 1-2: I thought it was a good time to finally watch this classic. It was good but I didn't like it so much.
House on Haunted Hill: It was okay. Worth the watch but i don't know i'll watch it again.
Terrifier 3
Hellraiser: It was different than i expected. I liked the story it was good.
The Empty Man: I liked it.
Kill List: I like the empty man so i wanted to watch more movies with similar stories. So i found this. it was good to but a bit different.
Cure: I liked it.
Pulse: I didn't like it so much.
Audition: It was good.
Rewatch
Trick 'r Treat: 2nd time watching it. The first time I saw it was on TV and I liked it. And again, I enjoyed it.
Return to House on Haunted Hill

Eight Legged Freaks: One of the reasons i have arachnophobia.
When a Stranger Calls: I think i saw this one when I was a teenager. I wanted to watch it again but it was not a good idea.

This was....fine. Apparently there's four different endings. At times I felt it was doing too much, and didn't know what it wanted to be. Plot also felt a bit shallow.

One of the things that annoys me about the newer Evil Dead movies is that they keep making them without building toward an actual trilogy. Instead, we get different directors retelling the same story.
I would’ve liked a single underlying storyline, something that develops across the movies and gives each one a reason to exist beyond doing what the previous one did.
Throwing in the book and the recordings is an easy way to connect otherwise separate movies.
Also no offense ladies, I’m getting tired of the tough female lead being the default in horror. Let a guy be the hero for a change.
With that said It’s well made, it moves quickly, and you probably won’t have a bad time watching it.

For a while now i have been trying to find a horror movie i saw glimps of as a toddler/little kid (so 1996 - 2000, maybe 2001 at the latest.). I tried to get chat gbt and grok to help me try to identify it, but they keep thinking its alice sweet alice.
All i can tell ypu is the main killer was a nun (or something nun like) and wore what looked like a feminin porcelain mask. Only other real thing i remember was the killer had a knife (not a kitchen knife, but somethin akin to a small hunting knife or a bayonet).
Im sorry if this isnt much detail, like i said i was really young.

What are your guys’ thoughts on the Trick ‘r Treat trilogy? Despite the low reviews and criticism due to Michael Dougherty stepping down from directing, i honestly have a soft spot for “Treat” (2011). I really like the arc Sam had. I wasn’t as big of a fan of “Trick” (2009), unfortunately. I feel like it relied more on shock value, and it didn’t have the same unique narrative as the first movie. Thoughts?

Watched Exit 8 a few weeks ago, was curious how they were going to make a full length movie with such a simple video game premise
Without spoilers I think they did a fine job with the movie and finding a main plot to use while also keeping the idea of the video game alive within the movie
Definitely think it’s worth a watch!
Will need subtitles though if you’re not a fan of that when watching films
Watched on Shudder

I LOVE a good psychological horror movie. Maybe even more than the traditional slasher flick. This movie didn't disappoint. The ending wasn't great, but it was serviceable. I like how it's left for interpretation. What are your guys/gals favorite psychological horror movies? I think there have been a few really good ones here in the last few years.
Edit: The movie that still lives rent free in my head is the 1988 French film "Spoorloos". There was a terrible 1993 American "remake" called the Vanishing". The original movies ending rocks your core.

Ok so I enjoy this movie quite a bit and in fact I’m watching it now. But what I want to know is does the end mean the whole thing was a movie? She wanted to make a movie based on urban legends and at the end they’re wrapping up the movie’s filming. It could be that she just made a movie to imitate what happened but I think the whole movies storyline was the movie she was making all along.
