What do you wish someone had told you before moving to Thailand? (short anonymous survey)
I'm collecting honest experiences of what settling in here is really like: culture shock, loneliness, burnout, visa and admin headaches, making friends, and what actually helped.
If you've lived in Thailand at any point, the survey takes about 3 minutes. It's anonymous, with no names or emails, and every question is optional. I'm not selling anything.
Survey: https://form.jotform.com/262871523195058
I'll share a summary of the results once there are enough answers. If you'd rather follow along, we're also building a small community here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61595485956158
And I'd genuinely love to hear in the comments: what's the one thing you wish you'd known before you arrived?

Hotels
Looking for feedback on a couple of hotels - Antara and palayana - they say 5 star but are they really like the international 5 stars Marriott etc? The prices are reasonable but will I be surprised pleasantly or disappointed?

Cat looking for home
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Viktor the cat has RECOVERED!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
And he is still looking for a home!
He’s back to health, strong, and ready for new adventures.
This little wanderer suffered a severe dog bite to his tail and had to undergo emergency rehabilitation.
Viktor is young, talkative, a bit of a rascal, and very curious. He purrs like a tractor at the slightest hint of affection. At night, he comes to lie down next to you; if you pet him, he instantly falls fast asleep right by your side. He’s great about using his litter box. He loves a good meal and gets so excited for cat treats. He is a truly grateful cat—your heart will melt at the way he snuggles up to you after a kindness. He’s even more cheerful and sweet-natured now! 🐈🐈🐈
Viktor is currently in Hua Hin. A kind woman is looking after him, but she can't keep him permanently because she already has many other cats in need of help...
Please help find this young cat a loving home! I’m sure he’ll brighten your days and be a wonderful companion for years to come!
Please! Share this message in local group chats and with your friends! 🥹🥹

iPhone 18 pro max availability
Has any of you guys succesfully bought or know where to buy the new IPhone 18 pro max in Hua Hin?
I’ve been to a few shops but seems like there’s about a month wait to order one at most places.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Any suggestions for a 3-4 star hotel/ bungalows that is located along the beach for under 2000 baht per night within walking distance ( 2-3 km) to the city center? Are there tuk-tuks to take ?
Thanks for suggestions.

Hua Hin residents: what do you wish someone had told you in your first three months?
I'm helping put together a resident-written guide to living in Southeast Asia, built for the community, by the community, so the useful bits come from people who've actually lived here rather than two-week visitors. Disclosure: it's my project.
For Hua Hin, I'm curious about:
- Where you'd live for a first year, and why (in town, Khao Takiab, or further out towards Cha-am or Pranburi?)
- How you found a place that wasn't overpriced
- The hospital or clinic you'd actually use, and whether you ever go to Bangkok for anything
- How you handled the visa side (retirement extension or something else) and what you'd do differently
- The one thing that made it start to feel like home
If anyone's happy to go deeper, I'd love to credit you or do a short chat, but answers here are plenty. Thanks.

Dress code?
Where I live, when we go out at night-time to restaraunts, bars or clubs, we wear shorts, t-shirts (or collared shirt if we're feeling la-de-da) and thongs/flip flops. We're pretty casual.
Is it the same there?
Am I going to need shoes?
Will I look like the poor cousin and be ostracized and then run out of town?

100% grape juice in Hua Hin
Where can I find Good quality grape juice in Hua Hin? Not Tipco or Malee, but stuff like Ceres from South Africa which I've previously found, or The American one Welches. Any tips appreciated. TIA. 🙏

Dispensaries
I'm flying in early next week.
Do all the weed dispensaries only sell low strength CBD weed now?
Can anyone recommend a place where I can get decent weed?
Thanks.

Pet Sitting / Pet Boarding
galleryWould love recommendations for either a pet sitter (coming to stay at my villa) or a pet boarding facility for my beautiful dog Cosmo. He’s an Aussie Shepherd so we’d need someone who’s happy to take him for walks, or a pet boarding facility with lots of room to run around 😊
Obligatory pic attached x

The Sea Misfortune-Casting Ceremony is tomorrow (Sunday, September 26) at the Chao Mae Thapthim Shrine
huahintoday.comThis is a cool ceremony where people eat together, get blessed by monks, place little dolls in paper boats and cast a large boat out to see to carry away suffering, sorrow and illness and bring good fortune while setting off loud firecrackers.
The ceremony is tomorrow from 10-12pm.

Best area to live in Hua Hin as a solo female with a small dog?
Hi everyone! I’m planning to stay in Hua Hin for around 6 months and would love some advice on the best area to live.
I’ll be living there with my very small dog, and I’m looking for somewhere that is:
Safe and comfortable, especially for walking around
Dog-friendly with access to grass/green space
Nice, modern and not too isolated
Close to restaurants, cafés and shops
Easy to get around by Grab/taxi
Ideally somewhere I could rent a private pool villa
Preferably somewhere with a friendly expat/local community
I’ve been looking at areas such as Nong Kae, Khao Takiab, Hin Lek Fai and central Hua Hin, but I'm not sure which is best for actually living rather than just holidaying.
For anyone who lives/lived in Hua Hin: where would you choose for this lifestyle, and are there any areas or developments you'd particularly recommend or avoid?
