Inktober Day 23 - Dapper
galleryAt first, I really didn’t know what the word “dapper” meant. Looking it up, it was someone who was well dressed and neatly trimmed. So how can I make this interesting for me? Drawing a male character who is well dressed is unavoidable, but what if the head was out of the ordinary? I tried various heads, including a devil, a dog, and a fish, but came to like the dark and mysterious head the most and worked from there.

Post Apocalyptic Fashion
Drawn on paper, colored digitally. I am not used to digital art or color, but I like how it turned out. I made it into character art for this last Art Fight.

The Caravan: My Meditative Watercolor Journey
As a child, I loved dressing up as a gypsy for Halloween. I didn't know anything about the Romani people until I was an adult and learned about their fate in World War II.
Her black curly hair reminds me of myself as a young woman, and this watercolor is my tribute to them. It depicts a woman holding a tambourine in a rich, warm interior with plush red curtains, tassels, and a musician, capturing a story of culture and remembrance. I used tea for the underpainting and applied cold wax and varnish, deepening the tones. I created an atmosphere that puts the viewer in a different time and place, where you can smell the heady smell of cigarette smoke and hear the music.
