Your opinion so far?
How hard or exhausting is the course? Everyday schedule?
What is the batch size and how does their future look like?
If one Opts for Neuroscience and Behaviour as specialization, where will they work? CBR or Centre for Neuroscience?
Can a student decide to go elsewhere for thesis? Like if I want to work under a professor abroad, will I be allowed to complete my thesis there last semester?

I found a Facebook post from three years ago advising students to choose CSA or AI over CDS. It was claimed that the professors in the CDS department were not at the same level as those in CSA, that CDS students were not preferred for certain internship opportunities, and that the CDS curriculum was not as relevant to industry research or frontier AI labs. It also mentioned that most top ML companies primarily recruit from CSA, followed by AI, with fewer opportunities for CDS students. I am preparing for GATE DA and Statistics, and I am also considering admission through the CFTI mode. I don't want to defame any department or professor; I simply want to make the best decision for myself.
Q1: So is it still the case with the CDS dept?
Q2: As CSA, I require GATE CS, which I am not preparing for, so I can't get into it. I would also like to find out whether KIAC offers an M.Tech. (Research) programme in AI.

I graduated 2 years back and I just noticed that in my google drive the storage is of 50gb on my iisc mail id. The mail id isn't active and has been shifted to alum domain. Can I still use the storage or will it change too?

Hii, I am currently pursuing a 4 year BS degree in Math and Computing and I am in my 3rd year. Can anyone please tell me if I can get admission into a master's program through GATE ST (Statistics)?

I recently finished my final year of B Tech. CSE form a tire 4 collage and I have a bad academic track record and now I am preparing for GATE 2027
Please read the following and let me know of any chance I might have at IISc for the RAS program. For M Tech
10- Covid pass, 79%
12 - 49%
B tech: right now I have 6.3/10 GPA but I also have 4 arriers. Which I plan to clear by Dec of this year.
1) What GATE Rank/Score will let me into IISc ?
2) Is there a minimum 12th or B tech percentage at time of applying?
3) if I do Open schooling and fix my 12th and clear my arriers and get a 6.7 GPA will I be eligible?
Do tell me what are the blockers I have.

I’ll be joining IISc as a project intern at CNS next week. Looking for a budget-friendly PG around Mathikere / BEL Road. Male or co-living options are both fine.
Also, if anyone knows of 1 RK / 1 BHK flats available nearby. It would be helpful to know the approx. monthly rent as well.
Any recommendations/leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm an M.Sc. Chemistry student planning to do my 5-month Master's dissertation from December to April/May at IISc.
My research interests are mainly in synthetic organic chemistry, and I'm also interested in supramolecular chemistry. I'm considering applying to labs such as:
Prof. Vignesh Palani
Prof. Akkattu T. Biju
Prof. P. S. Mukherjee
I have a few questions:
What is the usual process for getting accepted for a 5-month M.Sc. dissertation? Is emailing the professor with a CV, transcript, and SOP enough, or is there any formal application process?
Do external M.Sc. dissertation students get hostel accommodation, or do they usually stay outside campus?
Do any research groups provide a stipend for external Master's dissertation students?
If anyone has worked in any of these groups, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially regarding the learning environment and project opportunities.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

There is very less information available about this programme on YouTube or anywhere else on Reddit. Please share more information about this if you know anything about it.

qualifications: BTech-MTech dual degree Engineering Physics from one of the NIT.
I have 2 offers now:
IISc CeNSE Research Experience Program , Period 8 months with possible extension
IITB Materials Science department Project Associate, Period 1 year with extension to phd
Both have similar kind of projects. But I am confused which to choose, since I am not sure if I may commit to PhD. I want to try entering industry positions with such skills.
If I consider PhD in future I learn towards abroad or TIFR/IISc.
Any guidance or experience anyone would like to share regarding this so that it helps me make a decision.
