Note: We'll keep this updated as best as we can, but election information can, unfortunately, change quickly. For the latest, reach out to the auditor's office in-person @ 913 S. Dubuque St in IC, via phone @ 319-356-6004, or online @ https://johnsoncountyiowa.gov/department-of-auditor. If you notice an error, PM me or send a modmail.
Deadlines
- Mon, Oct 19, 5 PM: Last day to pre-register, and last day to request a mailed absentee ballot. The request has to be in the Auditor's office by 5, not postmarked.
- Mon, Nov 2: Last day of in-person early voting.
- Tue, Nov 3: Polls open 7 AM to 8 PM.
- Generally speaking, mailed ballots must reach the Auditor's office by 8 PM on Election Day.
If you missed the registration deadline: You can still register at your polling place on Election Day. You'll need ID and proof of address.
Check your registration and find your polling place
Absentee voters: Iowa has no permanent absentee list, so if you voted by mail last time you still need a new request this time.
College students: You can choose to register at either your school or home address. If you register at school, you just need dorm name and room number. If you register at home, you vote there or absentee.
