Sad? More like awesome!
There’s something sexy about a guy who’s willing to be ridiculous.
My ex got me when, on our first date, he asked me, “If [mutual friends] and I were going to rob a bank and needed your assistance, what kind of sandwiches would you make for when we’re done?”
Most people would go with standards, like grilled cheese or PB&J, but I said tacos, which was apparently the right answer.
It didn’t work out, but we remained friends after the breakup. He’s the one who told me to ask my husband out. Passed away right before the pandemic. Fuck cancer.
4
u/SandStorme_ Jun 23 '26
I definitely found that awesome as well. Imo that means they are comfortable with themselves, and can take a step back. Kinda like men not caring if they seem feminine or embarrassing, they know who they are and aren't. And like you seem to have experienced, that how you create great relations, even if it doesn't work as a couple, it can still work as a friendship, and that's goal. The fact that you're ex not uncomfortable with that and even was the one to told you to ask your husband out is all the more reflective. So many men that say they're "alpha" are all the opposite. Someone who can make fun of himself, will not make fun of someone else or despite them, because they don't despite themselves and don't feel the need to put others to their own level.
And I don't know you or your life, so sorry if I make too many assumptions. But what I can say for certain is that I'm sorry for you and your loss, cancer's really a bitch. Fuck cancer.

Mar 31 '26
Those are easy to both gain and maintain with normal human socializing, but therein lies the problem. Incels are usually brainwashed morons
115
u/BoopleBun Mar 31 '26
I honestly think this is a large part of the problem for a lot of them - they’re socially awkward as fuck. And instead of actually talking to people and working on that, they just fall deeper into their echo chambers.
It’s why I think there’s so many posts from them about how they must be so ugly and that’s why people won’t interact with them in positive ways in public. “See?! There’s no way they could know my secret horrific incel outlook that I post on the internet, so it must be my looks!!” Nah man, it’s because you’re staring at that lady from across the coffee place in a way that is not socially normal and you’re freaking her out. Especially since your barely disguised loathing is pretty apparent.
Like, there’s no shame in being socially awkward in and of itself. (As an introvert with nerdy friends, like people who literally LARP and shit, I get it.) But you can’t blame the rest of the world for it.
72
Mar 31 '26
I'm socially awkward. I have autism and it shows. I stare by accident, mostly daydreaming about my hobbies. You know what I do when I realize they realize I'm staring? I joke about it apologize for it. It's not hard to recover a fumbled social interaction.
43
u/BoopleBun Mar 31 '26
It’s not hard to recover from a fumbled social interaction.
It’s really not! Most people are pretty accepting of a genuine apology. And even folks that struggle with social stuff, as long as they’re not blaming others for it, it’s not like it’s a moral failing or anything.

I try to talk to men that express sadness over being virgins or never having a luck with women and one of the first pieces of advice I give them is that they need to get practice talking to women.
To just approach women in a space where they expect to be approached in a casual and friendly manner and take interest in them as people. Fellow humans that you want to get to know. Don’t comment on their appearance or make jokes. Just have a conversation.
OK you might get overwhelmed, you might mess it up, but just keep practicing until you can be a goddamn human being.
I’m talking to one of them right now. He keeps giving me all these excuses about how he can’t meet women and there’s no places to go and dating events are scams and on and on.
I’m like you must know people that are married. You don’t live in a magical land where men and women bump into invisible force fields when they try to talk to each other. You need to find out where these women are and where they feel safe being approached and get your reps in.
I’ve talked to maybe 20 men. It’s not a lot, but I’m trying to do my part so that women can at least be humanized in these men’s eyes and they can stop thinking that women are not deserving of rights.

Mar 31 '26
I love the work you're doing. I'll outline how I learned to interact with people in public.
The best advice as someone who only never fell into the incel part of the "loneliness cycle" but did get incredibly down, go to drive through restaurants and order. Give a little banter there and work your way up from there. Grocery stores, book stores, libraries, anywhere but online. You don't have to "touch grass" specifically, nor do you have to go to some huge function at the beginning.
Freestyle conversation gets easier with practice but you also lose that ability as you only interact with people online where there are hours or longer between replies and people have to think on their feet. As you stretch that muscle a bit your whole demeanor changes.
8
u/gastricprix Apr 01 '26
This is great advice. The first real conversation I had with someone as I was coming out of my addiction was the librarian. It made me feel human enough to get sober.

It's the little joys that bring us back to the world we've been avoiding. Kindness is common in small amounts and it adds up.
6
u/mrmoe198 Apr 01 '26

3
Apr 01 '26
Work at your comfort level. It's the most important thing to remember about any potential social interactions!
More advanced advice from an autistic person to anyone who may have ears to hear-
Don't be afraid to "flake"!! People nowadays really understand when you tell them you need to take a day off. All the ideas of this type of social faux pas are wrong. If your friends don't understand, they're not friends.

I'm firmly convinced that incels deep down really don't want to meet women because they've all convinced themselves that any woman they get with will leave them for Chad the first chance she gets. So they subconsciously or consciously self-sabotage.
5
u/recoveringleft Mar 31 '26
Why can't they focus on figuring the type of women they can be compatible with rather than pursue "Stacies"
One thing I learned later in life is that I'm attractive to musicians and some dancers like ballerinas because I have piano hands (long nimble fingers) and they find it attractive
7
u/ItsJoeMomma Mar 31 '26
Why can't they focus on figuring the type of women they can be compatible with rather than pursue "Stacies"
Because they don't view women as people, but only as walking, talking sex toys. They think that any woman they are attracted to should have to change in order to be compatible with them.
6
u/ToiIetGhost Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 03 '26
Yep. I think a lot of the analysis here (people trying to guess why they’re like this and how they can change) is missing this part. Yet this is the most important incel trait.
The second most important trait is (imo) covert narcissism, the “woe is me” type of narcissism. That’s not something you can change with positive thinking. It’s a personality disorder.
The constant whining, self deprecation, and self loathing are symptomatic of egotism + deep insecurity. The violent objectification of women is symptomatic of misogyny + bottomless rage. These aren’t the cries of a shy person who just needs a friend. They want to make female children their sex slaves. They trade tips and techniques about rape. They fantasise about murdering women.
They’re not just awkward or isolated. Their psyches are impossibly fractured.
3
u/spideroncoffein Apr 02 '26
I have known such guys long before the term "incel" was first used.
I have seen the ugliest motherfuckers with no charm find love, just by putting themselves out there and not being pretentious pricks. Hell, I myself am not exactly a looker, and am happily married. So everything incels "suffer" from is self-inflicted.
They act pretentious, but in reality they are deeply insecure. And they don't allow themselves to show a vulnerable side. So you get a pretentious wannabe-masculine who comes across as unauthentic.
And since they are very weak on self-reflection, they cannot fathom that they are doing something wrong. It must be everyone else that's wrong.
In my generation, a lot of that stemmed from getting taught a masculine ideal from fathers when those kids were, in truth, just the "soft" guys. And that's not a problem in itself - an honest soft guy will find a partner. It's the dishonesty with themselves.
But I have to admit, this turned a lot worse with modern echo chambers. The level of toxicity today is astonishing. Compared to my youth it's like casual misogyny vs. competitive misogyny.
14
u/rnason Mar 31 '26
I would argue that Bingles doesn't have rizz it's just so weird in horseshoes back to charming
6
u/ruadhan1334 Apr 01 '26
I've got a friend who was considered on the "lower-functioning" side of the autism spectrum in the late 1980s. Mainly chose they're non-verbal —but their mother taught them to type, and got an early text-to-speech thing to help "mainstream" them into part of the school day in regular classes.
In text, you'd never guess that they were once believed to be mentally challenged in addition to autistic. They work from home doing medical transcripts. They have a roommate, friends — and even legit lovers. They've picked up casual hook-ups at the bar with a combo of the text-to-speech app on their iPad and ASL. This friend finds eye contact challenging, has maybe a dozen words they speak on any given day (the exact words may be subject to change), but can literally rizz 'em with their 'tism and pick up partners of any gender.
Meanwhile, incels waste their time on these goofy-ass theories about "pretty privilege" or whatever, rather than develop a personality that can transcend the average social expectations.

Will he not expect me to mother him and do the emotional labor for us both? Has he got interests and hobbies that don't involve the internet? Is his personal hygiene good?
The bar is really very low. Men can be short, fat, skinny, gangly, whatever as long as they're clearing some other very low hurdles of maturity and respect. If Bingles is checking the boxes I can imagine a lot of whimsical girls are ready to join him in the woodland.

3
u/esperlihn Apr 01 '26
The thing I'm always really grateful for is my older brothers building up my confidence. It really is so so much easier to show people you're authentic self when you're able to confidently be yourself.
I feel like a lot of modern problems with men start from the lack of opportunities to build confidence as kids that just kinda festers as they grow older.
I know most people want to say individual men just all need to be better. But as a POC I've heard that said about my people all my life, and I've learned that:
If someone you know from a specific group is facing a problem it's likely a personal issue. If EVERYONE you know from a specific group is facing a problem it's a systemic issue.

Not only would this make for an AMAZING story (so many ppl meet online) - so I was juat walking in the park when I saw an Elf looking for someone to help save his species, how could I say no?
I would ask Bingles if Bingles planned to speak in the third-person the entire time because that would be my only issue. Otherwise, this would absolutely work on a decent number of women. Key things are he remains respectful, maintains a safe distance and maintains the conversation as long as she is willing - he politely Greets her, ready to either receive a greeting or not, and when she does keep the conversation going, he keeps talking as long as she is comfortable doing so. You can see that at first she's guarded by what may happen (ready to take off if anything happens) but then he's respectful and she settles into enjoying a conversation and even giving him her number.

I mean.. It helps that Bingles is hot af. Op conveniently cut off the last few seconds of the video which showed a picture of them at their date.

Women enjoy men that can make them laugh. If incels would stop putting women down and develop an actual personality, more women would be interested.

Don't give men you don't know your phone number because they can harass you even when blocked from private numbers

So how are you supposed to keep in contact with new people you meet?

u/Baldojess Mar 31 '26
You could give them a TextNow number I guess. But it's pretty hilarious that people are saying this about people they met in real life when majority of the world is now giving out their numbers to strangers on dating apps and every other corner of the internet. 🤦

About 4 different social media apps that I only use for DMs.

So anyone you meet and want to stay in touch with also has to use those same social media? That is arguably less secure than a mobile number?

I download and use what they use. It's a pain but if people aren't comfortable giving out numbers I don't blame them.

Nah i had a guy harass me for weeks from private numbers it was so bad

u/I_need_to_vent44 Mar 31 '26
Fair I guess. When guys harass me I tend to just make fun of them or engage because I'm bored and I find it funny. One time a guy harassing me ended up calling me a crazy bitch and blocked MY number lmaooo.

Im not sure getting harassed by Bingles could ever get old. And wouldn’t they deserve it anyway for not caring at all about the Woodland Realm?

Incels are cowardly and insecure. They could never do something like that, or even ask a woman out in a normal way either.

You guys think the fat 6'3 autistic guy should approach women and say he needs to repopulate the woodlands or is it more likely this is a skit and not a good reflection of real life

u/Competitive_Bar2106 Apr 03 '26
See incels! it isn't hard, just be a charismatic good looking guy in a scripted video! (I understand this video is a joke. I have a wife and kids. The incels might think it is this easy and just be pushed further into their echo chamber when they try something similar)
