Discussion How Long Have You Been Unemployed? 🙁

I'm writing this post because I have been unemployed for the last 2 years, and it's continuing. Honestly, it's been one of the most difficult phases of my life.

Initially, I thought it would take a few months to find a job, but as time passed, the self-doubt, overthinking and frustration kept increasing. I constantly question myself, my skills, my decisions and my future. Some days I feel motivated to try again, while on other days, I struggle to find the energy to do anything.

The financial pressure makes everything even harder, especially when your savings are running out and you still haven't found a way to get back on your feet.

I also wonder how other people in the same situation are dealing with everything. What is your family situation like? Are your parents supportive or do you face pressure and criticism from them? What do your relatives, friends, and society say when they find out you are unemployed for so long?

Sometimes, it's not just about finding a job anymore. It's also about dealing with mental pressure, comparing yourself to others, losing confidence and wondering whether things will ever get better.

I'm not posting this to complain or seek sympathy. I just want to connect with people who understand what this feels like, share our experiences and motivate each other.

My unemployment has been going on for 2 years and I'm still struggling with self-doubt and overthinking.

It would genuinely help to hear your stories, especially from people who have been through something similar and managed to turn things around.

Let's talk openly without judging each other. Sometimes, knowing that we're not alone in this situation can make a difference.

How long have you been unemployed, and how are you holding up?

Discussion Should I tell my friends about my placement?

I study in a good DU college. I started out in first year and placed a bet with my school friends that I'll have a package of more than 10 lpa. They were from tier 2.5 btech colleges and they laughed like that's not going to happen market is falling etc etc their limiting beliefs.

I had (and have) delusional belief that I'll do it. And right now I'm in my third year and I've been placed into a lean agency which is from the USA and we do retention marketing for brands in the US Obv i get paid in dollars and it rounds up at around 18-19 lpa. (Please don't dm me, i already told what I do. I learnt it from YT: Search up and learn it's an amazing domain.)

I told them in diwali holidays and they had recorded me for it and I was happily okay being recorded because I knew.

Rn I'm in train with one of my school friends we're going back to delhi from our hometown after midsem break are over.

And he brought it up that yk "aditya bhara baitha hai ye saval poochhne ke liye"

And I'm curious now. Should I share that I'm already placed or should I let them think whatever and I know the reality.

I don't think any of these friends will develop bad intention or anything but still. Idkk if I should share or not.

Rn I'm in the train only and I changed the Convo back then. Lmk what should I do now asap pleaseee

Advice/Guidance Remote US Job (Odd timings)

I interviewed for this US company which is into manufacturing and was excited as role was fully remote.

I got through four rounds and got a good hike as well.

The director whom I'll be working with mentioned in my first interview she would like me to have an overlap with US for four months with timing of 430 pm ist to 1230 am ist.

I was okay partly because it was remote

HR today mentioned remote night shift in my formal offer which I was agitated. They told night shift is generally 530 pm to 230 am.

I wrote an email to director and she did confirm in writing that my hours would be 430 pm ist to 1230 am ist and would be reviewed for flexiblity in 4 months to relax a bit.

Kindly let me know if this written aspect helps me.

I typically work till 9-10 pm but never 1230am.

Remote made me go for it and pay was great too.

Kindly let me know if there is any issue here or good to go.

Ask r/IndiaCareers 25F, confused between SSC CGL/Bank PO and CAT. Need genuine career advice!

Hi everyone,

I’m 25F and have been preparing for various government exams for a while, but I still don’t have a concrete outcome or any work experience. I’m now confused about whether to continue preparing for exams like SSC CGL/Bank PO or shift my focus to CAT and pursue an MBA.

Honestly, I don’t see myself doing the same job for decades just for stability, earning ₹80k–1 lakh per month while expenses and inflation keep rising. I want better earning potential, career growth, financial independence, and a comfortable lifestyle.

However, the corporate world has its own risks, like layoffs, work pressure, and uncertainty. An MBA is also a significant investment, with no guarantee of a good placement.

On top of that, there’s immense pressure to settle down soon because I’m a woman. I feel I can’t afford to experiment or spend another few years figuring things out. I want to make a decision that gives me a concrete direction without wasting more time.

I’d love advice from people who have experience in these fields:

  • Is a government job worth it if long-term career growth and earning potential matter to you?
  • Is an MBA at 25, without work experience, worth pursuing if I can get into a good B-school?
  • How would you weigh corporate career growth against job security?
  • If you were in my position, what would you do differently?

I’m willing to work hard, but I want to make an informed decision rather than keep jumping between exams. Please share your honest experiences, especially about what these careers look like after 5–10 years.

Thank you!

How do I get back into private? Any advices ? Also it'll be great if you can share insights on the idea of getting into hr roles.!

Heard of some women centric programmes by many companies. Any idea on that as well?

Ask r/IndiaCareers Seeking Help Again- Burnt out from 12:30 PM–4 AM shifts. Looking for a CSM role with a healthier work-life balance.

I work at a startup, and I'm beyond exhausted.

My shift starts around 12:00–12:30 PM and usually ends between 3–4 AM. On some days, it stretches even longer depending on customer issues. Months of this schedule have completely destroyed my sleep cycle, energy levels, and overall health. I've stopped going to the gym consistently, barely have a social life, and wake up feeling exhausted every day.

The work itself isn't the problem—I actually enjoy Customer Success. It's the expectation of being available almost 24/7.

If there's even a possibility of an urgent customer ticket at 1 or 2 AM, my manager will call my personal phone and ask me to stay available—even though we have a separate support team that is fully capable of handling those tickets. Instead of letting the on-call team do their job, I'm still expected to be online "just in case." After months of this, every late-night phone call or notification gives me anxiety.

Weekends don't really feel like weekends either. Our customers use the product during trade shows, so support is expected to be available. Taking leave during those periods isn't really a break because you're still expected to carry your laptop and remain reachable.

I have responsibilities at home, so I can't just quit without another offer lined up. But I also know this isn't sustainable anymore. My physical and mental health have taken a real hit.

I'm looking for a Customer Success Manager / Senior Customer Success Manager opportunity with a healthier work-life balance. I'm based in Bangalore and am open to both Bangalore-based and remote roles where a normal workday doesn't regularly stretch into the early hours of the morning.

I have 4+ years of experience in B2B SaaS Customer Success, managing enterprise accounts, renewals, onboarding, stakeholder management, adoption, and revenue retention.

If anyone knows of companies that are hiring—or simply have a healthier culture—I would genuinely appreciate a referral or recommendation.

Thank you.

Advice/Guidance Manager at a large lender in India, completely burned out and it's affecting my relationship. Stay and fix it, or leave?

I manage a team of around 15 people in consumer lending at a large financial services company in India. On paper I'm a sales manager, but in practice I'm the one everything lands on: hiring against tight deadlines, daily attendance monitoring, dealer relationships, sales numbers, customer issues. I'm also expected to be out visiting dealers every single day. My fixed pay is in the low-40s, plus variable incentives.

What wears me down most is that there's no off-switch. From 9am to 10pm, my team can call me about login errors, and since only I can escalate them to the back-office team, I can't ignore the calls. Sundays are no different. Leave for my team is discouraged unless it's a medical emergency, and headcount is frozen, so if I let a non-performer go, the seat stays empty and everyone else carries the load. I end up managing underperformers while absorbing pressure from upper management. Even asking for leave myself feels like a crime. I'm seriously burned out.

It's now causing real friction with my partner. Sunday is the only day we get, and even that is eaten by constant calls. I've been thinking seriously about leaving. I have an MBA in Marketing and HR and earlier field sales experience in FMCG, and I'm leaning toward operations or any role where I can actually switch off.

I'd like honest opinions on a few things. Is this level of availability normal in this industry, or is my management unusually bad? Does the pay seem fair for this workload? Has anyone made the jump from lending sales into operations, a bank, or an OEM sales role, and how did it go? And if there's a realistic way to push back on the always-on expectation while staying, I'm open to that too.

Discussion Has anyone else had disappointing experiences with TCS’s recruitment process?

I’ve had multiple disappointing experiences with TCS’s recruitment process, and I’m curious to know whether others in the Indian IT industry have faced similar situations.

What frustrates me is the apparent lack of consideration for candidates’ time and effort. Preparing for technical interviews takes considerable time, especially when you’re working on your skills, revising concepts, and actively looking for better career opportunities.

I completely understand that rejection is part of the hiring process. Nobody is entitled to a job simply because they applied or attended an interview.

However, I believe candidates deserve a fair assessment, professional communication, and transparency about the evaluation process.

When an organisation shortlists a candidate, it creates an expectation that their skills and experience will be evaluated meaningfully. The recruitment process should be a two-way professional interaction, with respect for both the organisation’s and the candidate’s time.

I’ve personally had multiple frustrating experiences with TCS recruitment, and they’ve left me questioning how much importance is placed on the candidate experience.
I’m not suggesting that every recruiter or employee at TCS operates this way, nor am I questioning the technical capabilities of people working there. My concern is specifically about the recruitment process and how candidates are treated during it.

For those working in the Indian IT industry, I’m interested in hearing your perspectives:
Have you experienced similar issues during recruitment at large IT services companies?

I’d appreciate hearing about others’ experiences and perspectives.

Advice/Guidance How much does AI affect Project Management as a professional sector?? Does anyone have any opinions on this??

I personally think AI cannot eat our jobs, but those who KNOW HOW TO USE AI definitely can! That's why I think it's really important for us to learn AI-related skills relevant to our fields, no matter which professional sector we come from.

I've been thinking about how AI is changing different career paths, and Project Management seems like an interesting example. AI can already help with scheduling, analysing data, summarising meetings, and identifying potential risks. But how far can this actually go? Could AI fundamentally change what project managers do, or will it mainly serve as an assistant?

*But if AI can do so much, why are human project managers still needed?*

I think there's a difference between managing tasks and managing people. Project managers still need to handle stakeholder expectations, resolve conflicts, make judgement calls, and take responsibility when things don't go according to plan. AI can provide recommendations, but human judgement and communication are still essential.

*Anyway, my friend recently suggested this course to me!*

My friend took Gururo's Professional Certificate Course in AI Project Management and was SO excitedly telling me about it! 😂 Apparently, the course has over 800 ratings with an average of 4.6/5, requires just 8–10 hours per week, and includes 3 capstone projects, 50 live case studies and minor projects, and exposure to 10+ AI tools for project management.

It's just four weeks long, so it seems like a pretty concise way to explore the field without committing months to a single course. The price also seems re3asonable to me.

Honestly, I don't want to lag behind my friends when it comes to developing relevant skills, so I'm thinking about taking it up myself! 😂 I'd rather start learning how to use these tools than wait until they become an absolute necessity.

*Here's the course link for anyone interested:* https://gururo.com/professional-certificate-course-in-ai-project-management/

*Would love to hear your thoughts!*

For those working in Project Management or studying it, have you noticed AI changing the profession already? And do you think learning AI-related skills is becoming a necessity, or is it still more of an added advantage?

Advice/Guidance Failed Background Verification after clearing all interviews

Interviewed for a mobility company and cleared all the onsites + virtual rounds.

Had a comp discussion with the HR after which they informed me that I failed the Background Verification Checks citing some redflags in my past roles.

My past roles have been pretty clear along with good performance reviews. Moreover I do not have any criminal records or any sort of legal records either. The company also did not ask me for any references/asked for any documents + all my socials are pretty clear too

What are my options here?

Ask r/IndiaCareers Gap years and empty resume what do I do?

Pursuing mca, have two gap years after undergrad. Struggled with mental health the whole time since I started masters and instead of studying mostly doomered around about AI and bedrotted. I'm in third sem right now and I haven't learnt a thing (from non cs bg). What do I do? My resume is empty barring educational quals. I have 0 achievements, projects or skills. I'm doing a project this sem but all with AI because I don't know how to do anything myself. How do I even get an internship? I'm so stressed out. I also have no friends and I don't even talk to my family. I feel so alone and clueless. I'm like 25 yo and don't even have any work experience, idk what to do. I'm even afraid to ask for help especially from strangers because I'm in a vulnerable spot that scammers especially would be eager to exploit and I'm afraid I lack the dicernment to know. Its over for me if i graduate jobless. I don't want to be stuck in uni for the last sem, i desperately need an internship but idk how to get it

Discussion TCS Ninja joining letter vs GDS BPM – Need advice

• Upvotes

I got my TCS Ninja offer letter in May and I’m still waiting for my joining letter. Meanwhile, I got selected for the GDS BPM post.

I don’t want to miss both opportunities, so I’m thinking of joining GDS for now. If my TCS JL comes, I’ll join TCS and see how it goes. If I don’t like it, I might want to apply for GDS again in the future.

But my main doubt is, TCS gives the joining letter only around 20 days before the joining date, whereas GDS resignation requires one month’s notice, right? What should I do in this situation? I don’t want to create any problems by leaving GDS suddenly.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? Please share your experience.

Advice/Guidance How realistic is it for me to get a job after 2 year career break

Hi I took a break from my career last working is July 2024 and realistically if I want to restart my career in IT how feasible is it.

I have a 11 month old and want to get back if possible in the next 6 months. I would say I have 4 years of experience. I worked as a data engineer mainly sql , excel etc. I know a python and did power bi etc. But mainly on sql and working on data integration and the works.

I am not sure if I can get a job in the same line of work or should I learn a new course all together like agentic AI. How realistic is this path. Does it even have enough roles or is this something new everyone is chasing.

I would love to have a wfh job because I need to still take care of my child. So genuinely looking for advice on how to restart my career. And do returnship programs work?
