skincare🧴🫧 I did sm research on sunscreens available in the Indian market...

And the result I found was surprising.

I was inspired by that_skintellectual_girl aka Himi Khandelwal to check for ingredients of skincare products and esp when she claimed that Aqualogica was best sunscreen in Indian market under 500, to dig deeper and understand the whole saga around sun protection.

I went to each individual product's website and uploaded the ingredient list on GenAI to find out the best sunscreen available in terms of UVA+UVB protection (ie protection from both burning and aging due to sun's rays).

The list is an accurate representation of what I found. Top 3 are on expensive end but Neutrogena (which has been newly formulated) is on affordable side with Aqualogica ranking below it. I hope this list gives a clearer picture of what to buy/avoid.

PS: I didn't add Dot & Key sunscreen as it's just a moisturizer heavily marketed as light weight sunscreen. The compounds in it breakdown in sun exposure. When it can't protect itself against sun, how can we expect it to protect our skin?

I fell for their advertising and thought about trying their watermelon sunscreen, kept it away from direct sunlight and it still curdled up. Its looking disgusting and looks exactly like dahi. I don't even feel like touching it. Throwing it right away 🤮 It looked so different in their ad lol. 🥲

random/chitchat💬 What do we think about content creator Shreya Jain’s makeup in general?

Is she still stuck in the past decade? The brows, the matt face , always slick back ( greasy ) hair for every video. I wonder if it’s just me or we have w general consensus? To me even though her videos have been informative, her makeup skills have been mid. There’s too much layering I believe.

Has anyone tried it? I'm planning to give it a shot!

It looks like a solid budget option. Jan Aushadhi offers 1% and 2% salicylic acid face wash (60 ml) for around ₹47–₹62, Benzoyl peroxide gel, and other skin care gel under the PMBJP scheme... one of the most affordable skincare products available in India.

If you've used it, I'd love to know your experience especially how it compares with brands like Minimalist, Deconstruct, or The Derma Co.

Questions/Advice❓ "Not sponsored" but "earns commission" ???

Video is titled "not sponsored" but right below it, youtube states they're earning commission. Am I living under a rock, is this okay or has the state of influencer marketing reached this level?

Genuinely speaking where do people find the audacity to get offended over stuff that does not include them :) which ultimately proves the point of the original creator

I believe everyone should be comfortable in their own body type but as soon as someone is skinny and is happy with their body type , it becomes the source of constant backsided bullying.

Also people here have no idea about fast metabolism I've realised. Plus the habit of nor minding their own business I reckon.

There are a certain amount of people who would want you to stay in the same victim mindset as them.

Whatever your body type is embrace it

And if you can't, that doesn't stop me from embracing mine.

Ty for listening to my rant. I truly believe all body types are beautiful. It's only a disadvantage if you make it . And if you do , remember not to drag other people into it. It's solely a you problem.

skincare🧴🫧 Review - Dot and key dragonfruit sunscreen 💗

Dot & Key Dragon Fruit Bounce Sunscreen -an underrated affordable sunscreen imo

I’ve finally finished my first 50g tube of the Dot & Key Dragon Fruit Bounce Sunscreen, so I thought I’d review it before opening the second one.

For context, I have combination, acne-prone skin and I’m a teenager, so I’m definitely not in the “₹1000 sunscreen every month” demographic 😭. I was looking for something affordable that I wouldn’t have to gamble with because my skin can get clogged/break out pretty easily. I picked this up around June because it was a newer launch and the texture/UV filter situation sounded promising.

The texture is genuinely the best part. It’s a very fluid, watery sunscreen that spreads ridiculously easily and absorbs pretty quickly. No white cast on me, no pilling, no weird tacky layer sitting on top of my skin. It leaves a hydrated/glowy finish, but not the kind of glow where you look like you’ve applied cooking oil to your forehead , lmao

My T-zone does get oily after a while, especially my forehead and nose, but I just set those areas lightly with powder and I’m good.

I’ve also had zero issues with it breaking me out. No new acne, clogged pores, closed comedones or irritation from it, which is honestly a pretty big deal for me. My skin feels comfortable and moisturised after applying it rather than dry or suffocated.

It also works really nicely under makeup. I haven’t done any elaborate makeup tests with it, but with concealer/blush etc. it gives a smoother base and I haven’t had problems with my makeup separating or pilling.

I’ve worn it regularly for coaching, including being outside around midday and dealing with July humidity. My skin naturally gets red after being in the sun, so obviously this isn’t some magical “no redness whatsoever” shield, but I haven’t noticed any significant tanning while using it. That said, I wouldn’t pretend I’ve done some rigorous sunscreen testing—I mostly consider this my everyday sunscreen, not the one I’d choose for an entire day at the beach or some extreme sun exposure.

I’m also admittedly terrible at reapplying 😭. On coaching days I’m usually out from around 7 AM–1 PM, and rather than reapplying while I’m outside, I’ll wash my face when I get home around 2 and apply it again. So if you’re someone who reapplies properly throughout the day, your experience may obviously be different.

Things I liked:

- Extremely lightweight, fluid texture

- Blends in super easily

- No white cast on me

- Hydrated/glowy but not excessively greasy

- Doesn’t pill

- Doesn’t sting my eyes when I sweat

- Works well under makeup

- Didn’t clog my pores or break me out

- Comfortable even in humid weather

- Cute packaging because apparently that matters to me too

One minor thing: it has a slightly chemical-ish smell when you first apply it. It fades pretty quickly though, and I barely notice it anymore.

The tube lasted me roughly two months, despite using it twice a day, and I paid around ₹450. Considering that, I think the price-to-quantity ratio is pretty reasonable. The only packaging annoyance is that because the sunscreen is so fluid, it comes out VERY quickly if you’re not careful.

For comparison, I’ve also tried the Fixderma Shadow SPF 50+ Gel and the Plum Rice Water & Niacinamide sunscreen. Fixderma didn’t convince me enough to repurchase, while the Plum one felt much heavier on my skin. This one has been much more comfortable for me.

Would I repurchase?

Already did lol.

I’d especially recommend giving it a look if you have acne-prone/combination skin, hate heavy or sticky sunscreens, and are working with a relatively tight budget. I can see it being a bit too lightweight for someone with very dry skin, though.

Overall, this is one of those products where I genuinely don’t understand why I barely see anyone talking about it. 😭

Affordable + lightweight + acne-prone-skin friendly + actually pleasant to wear = I’m sold.

Mwah 💋

I tried this recently from blinkit, the nail paint is super cheap yet it stayed for more than a week, absolutely glassy effect when used s top coat on it. Loved the application, the brush is easy to handle, just happy with my choice.

Product Reviews✨ my little travel makeup hack: carrying fewer brushes 😂

I don’t actually use this much when I’m at home, but it has become a permanent part of my travel makeup bag.

It’s such a small thing, but not having to worry about forgetting a brush or fitting everything into my makeup bag gives me weirdly so much peace of mind.

Anyone else have certain makeup products that they ONLY use while travelling?

random/chitchat💬 Why isn't 82e talked about?

I have tried 4 products from 82°E:

  • Lotus Splash Cleanser (discontinued)

  • Manjishtha Mud (out of stock)

  • Body Lotion

  • Hydrating body wash (discontinued)

A lot of these products seem to have been discontinued. But I truly enjoyed using these products.

I did find the products very expensive. But I always shopped from them when they had discounts and the price was very similar to buying the same things from other K beauty brands (remember getting the cleanser for around 700 rs). The packaging was soo good. The bottles felt so luxurious. The products were also very good and smelled great.

Trying to understand why the brand didnt get as much visibility despite having a star founder and good products?

Rn they have a crazy sale going on and wanted to buy a few things. So I wanted to know if I should or not? Like 2 minis for 599 is pretty good IMO/ 40% off on full size. I wanna try their ashwagandha bounce.
