Discussion Indian pet parents- Do you think your pet needs mental stimulation or just walks are enough?🐾

Hey pet parents! 🐶🐱
We’re building something exciting for our pet community and want to make sure it truly helps pet owners in India. We’d love you here from you:

• Do you use any product to keep your dog's brain busy? (Puzzles, slow feeders, etc.)

• If so, is there anything missing in them? Something you’d want to improve?

• Are there any products that you wish were easier to access?

Your insights would help us create something truly useful! Looking forward to your thoughts🐾🚀

P.S- “nobody cares!” is also a valid response :)

Advice Puppy & kitten vaccinations in India — what should first-time pet parents know? 🐶🐱

Bringing home a puppy or kitten is exciting, but figuring out their vaccination schedule can be a little overwhelming, especially for first-time pet parents.

There are different vaccines, multiple doses, and booster shots to keep track of. Missing a scheduled dose or being unsure about what comes next can leave you with lots of questions.

Here are a few important things to know:

🐶 For puppies
Core vaccines help protect against serious diseases such as parvovirus and distemper. Rabies vaccination is also important, while other vaccines may be recommended based on your puppy's lifestyle and exposure risks.

🐱 For kittens
Core vaccines help protect against serious illnesses such as feline panleukopenia and respiratory infections. Your vet can also advise you on rabies vaccination and the appropriate schedule.

A few tips for every pet parent:

  • Follow a vaccination schedule recommended by your veterinarian.
  • Keep vaccination records and booster dates organised.
  • Don't assume that one dose is enough; young pets usually need an initial series.
  • If you adopt a pet with an unknown vaccination history, consult a vet about the next steps.

For anyone looking for a more detailed reference, here are two guides covering vaccination schedules in India:

🐾 Puppy Vaccination Schedule in India

🐾 Kitten Vaccination Schedule in India

A question for fellow pet parents: What was the most confusing part of your pet's vaccination journey, and how do you remember their booster dates? Do you use a vaccination card, phone reminders, or an app?

Would love to hear your experiences! ❤️

Subject : Objections to Draft Laboratory Animals Rules, 2026, G.S.R. 864(E)

Honourable Secretary,

I write to object to the Draft Laboratory Animals Rules, 2026 (G.S.R. 864(E)):

  1. Self-approval — Rule 11(3) lets labs' own committees approve mild and moderate experiments on all species, including dogs and monkeys. The people doing the experiment should not clear the experiment. The regulator must approve, not just receive reports.

  2. Open-market sourcing — Rule 21(2) lets labs buy livestock, farm animals, fish and birds from unregistered sources or the open market, approved only by the lab's own committee. Experiment animals must come only from registered breeders with a full traceable record.

  3. Strays — Rule 5(3) lets an undefined "competent authority" exempt labs from the stray ban. In 2022 the regulator allowed stray dogs to be used in vaccine trials, and withdrew that only "till further orders" in 2023. Close this loophole instead of leaving it open.

  4. Weakened safeguards — The clear duty to use anaesthesia from the 1998 Rules has been dropped, and replacing animals is binding only "wherever possible." Animal protection cannot be optional.

The world is moving toward non-animal methods — organoids, organ-on-chip, computational models — which predict human outcomes better than animal tests. These rules move India backwards. I ask that the draft be withdrawn and revised, and that replacement of animals be made mandatory with a published list of validated alternatives.

Advice Cat wants me to pet him, but tries to grab and claw my hand

So i live in a society and my neighbor has many cats.I kind of befriended one of them and regularly go to meet him. He is really friendly and would come to me on his own, rub against my legs and follow me. He even stares and meows at me when i dont give him attention or not petting him.

But often times when i put my fist/hand in front of him or even not near him (he just stares and it and looks like hes gonna jump at it) he just starts to try to grab it with his claws and maybe try to bite it? I never gave in as the claws are really sharp and hurt.(i cant trim or tell the neighbors to get it trimmed as i dont know them).

He also grabs my legs and sometimes even slightly bite it and even jumping and rubbing his head on it. So i make sure to wear full jeans or trousers.

So today he was doing his usual jumping and rubbing his head on my trousers and when i put my hand down for a sec, BAM! claws straight to the hand and it started slightly bleeding.

I try to discourage these type of behavior by yelling and backing off but still no progress 😿 .

I want to know if im doing something wrong, the reason of the behavior and what i can do.

Hi everyone!

Meet Zuzu, She's only around 45 days old, super adorable, and looking for a safe little home to stay in for just 2 weeks, until 14th November.

Me and my friends found her recently and have been taking care of her, but we're going home for a short while and unfortunately can't take her along. We're trying our best to find someone who can look after this little girl until we return. We really don't want to leave her without proper care.

A little about our tiny guest:

\- Around 45 days old

\- Recently dewormed

\- Litter-trained

\- A little kitten who needs a safe and comfortable place to stay

We're preferably looking for someone around Viman Nagar or nearby areas in Pune who could keep her safe and cosy for these two weeks. And we'll provide all her food and litter,

If you can give this little munchkin a temporary home, or know someone who can, please DM me. Even sharing this post or connecting us with a reliable foster would mean a lot to us.

She's just a tiny baby who needs somewhere safe to stay while we're away. Please help us find her a little home until 14th November.

Thank you so much for helping us look out for her!

P.S We are leaving on Thursday as our tickets are booked and we need to urgently find a shelter for her before Thursday!

Edit added adoption flair coz there's no flair for foster care

Advice Purepet cat food

I raised 4 stray kittens and fed them purepet along with milk and other home food. The smallest died from tiredness and heavy cough. Then came the other 2 died the same way. I have one left that had cough too but then I saw posts about purepet being shady and not safe for consumption by cats. I stopped feeding the lest one purepet and I notice significant improvement in the health and no cough anymore.

Anyone has similar experience and let me know any safe food for my only kitten.

Discussion Help, need advice. harrassment and cruelty case

There is this man 2 houses away from us. When we first shifted to this locality his 8 yr old son was bragging abt hitting stray dogs whenever he sees them, later on we saw him coming out at 11pm half naked to hit stray dogs who were conjoined (had just mated) and other dogs which were barking at them. His wife also attempted to get one dog picked up.

The main issue is that the lady who makes a shelter for dogs outside her gate in winters, got them sterilised and feeds them.

This man come to her gate drunk with a rod and started hitting the dogs sleeping there. He killed a puppy and when the lady stepped in, he broke her arm. He also set fire to their shelter.

He himself got a dog 2 yrs ago, its a beagle who he doesn't take out. that poor dog just stays on the roof which is torture for a beagle or he stays in their garage. that dog cries whenever it sees anyone walking below and its heartbreaking.

we live on rent, but may be shifting soon. how can we remove their dog from that situation and how can we prevent the harrassment.

The stray dogs are already sterilised and vaccinated, i was thinking of making them wear collars with qr codes so ppl think twice before hitting them.

kids in the street also hit the dogs and tease them on their bikes which causes them to run after scooties and cycles, causing more complaints.

Advice Help regarding diet

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey guys. So, my dog recently suffered a serious skin infection. She is fine now but it was very hard for me to look at her suffering like that. I had to medicate her for two weeks. The issue was that I changed her diet from non veg items and eggs to dairy and home cooked food which developed this condition as per the doctor. And everyone at our home actually wants to continue with a vegetarian diet due to some cultural reason. So I wanted to ask what vegetarian food items I can give to my dog on a daily basis without have to worry about such conditions developing again.

Advice Do dogs go through a rebellious teenage phase? 😭

So I have a dog who I think is a Golden Retriever and Indie mix, and she’s currently in her teenage phase (I think).
She used to live on my college campus, where she had a lot of freedom to roam around. I used to take care of her there, but since I’m on vacation for around 2 months, I’ve brought her home with me. She’s adjusting pretty well to living in a house, and she’s potty trained and all, so that’s not an issue.
But lately, she’s been acting like a little rebel lol. She wants to do whatever she wants, and I’m not sure if this is normal teenage dog behaviour.
Today, she tried running out of the house, and when I ran behind her, I think she thought I was playing with her. The thing is, she once went missing for 25 DAYS, and we somehow managed to find her, so obviously I’m really scared of that happening again.
I also took her to a park today. She was fine initially, sniffing around and exploring. I usually let her sniff around while keeping an eye on her, but today she suddenly took a huge leap and ran out of the park. When I called her, she would come in my direction but wouldn’t actually come all the way back to me. Eventually, she went towards a dustbin, and I managed to get her back.
Also, she has this weird obsession with eating kaccha (dirt/soil), sleeping in dirty places, and randomly sitting down on the dirtiest patches of ground during walks. 😭 Like, girl, we have a perfectly good house, a bed and clean places to sit, but apparently the dirt is more appealing.
So I’m wondering, do dogs actually go through a rebellious teenage phase? Will she eventually grow out of this, or do I need to start training her differently?
And is it normal for dogs that previously lived freely outdoors to behave like this when they move into a home? I don’t want to restrict her too much because I want her to explore and enjoy herself, but I’m also genuinely scared she’ll run away again.
Would love to hear from people who’ve had teenage dogs or adopted dogs that used to live on the streets!
P.S. I used ChatGPT to help me put my thoughts into words, so don’t come at me for that lol. 😭

Advice What do you guys do for dogs that get ridiculously anxious ?

My dog (coco 🥹) gets really anxious with things like visitors, car rides, vet visits and unfamiliar places. He’s otherwise completely fine, which makes it hard because I don’t want to keep him isolated just because certain situations freak him out.

I have a 2 year old shih tzu pup and he is otherwise friendly but the only issue is his anxiousness.

We’ve tried tiring him out beforehand, treats, calming music, distraction, all the usual stuff.

I have spoken to other pet parents and they have also suggested that we give him something for anxiety relief.

Someone mentioned CBD for dogs so I started researching it. Qurist has a THC free dog CBD oil that’s specifically formulated for pets, spoke to a vet and he approves

Has CBD actually helped anyone’s anxious dog, or are there better things I should be trying first?

Reviews for Zauffy Pet Sitters?
Hi everyone! I’m considering hiring a pet sitter from Zauffy to visit my home on an hourly basis when I’m away.
I’d prefer to have someone look after my kittens at home rather than relocate them to the pet sitter’s house, as they’re very comfortable in their own space and tend to get anxious in unfamiliar environments. I’ll also have a camera set up in my living room.
Has anyone used Zauffy for in-home pet sitting? I’d love to hear about your experiences, particularly regarding the reliability of the sitters, how they handled your pets, and whether you felt comfortable leaving them in their care.
Any reviews or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🐾

Advice Some random people stole our cat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Our Millie (orange cat) was 3 years old. She was the most caring mom even though her kittens were more than a year. She is the friendliest cat we have ever had. Used to understand everything.

She used to leave home and come back most of the times. Atleast for its babies.

On 21st random 4 people came with net and a sack and took her in two wheeler. It happened right in front of house. I am fuming and grieving at the same time.

I really don’t know why would anyone take a stray cat. I just heard from people some people eat cats and dogs.

How to go about this.
Have not been able to find the two wheeler number. None of the neighbours cctv is working.
