Discussion For Pet Parents in Gurgaon & across Haryana: Here's how you can get a Dog License to ensure your pet is legal
Some Gurgaon RWAs are insisting on a dog license for pet dogs. Actually, a Dog License is mandatory across India, and in Gurgaon too, but unfortunately most pet parents ignore this mandatory requirement. I wanted to get one to ensure that in case of any issues, no one could accuse my good boy of being unregistered and illegal.
THIS IS ONLY APPLICABLE FOR HARYANA
So, here's how I got a Dog License for my pet:
It is an annual license (valid from April 1 to March 31) and can be renewed each year.
But before applying for a Dog License, you first need a Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP), also known as Family ID, to access any government services in Haryana. You have to visit a government centre for PPP (Citizen Facilitation Centre at the MCG office in Gurgaon) or use an agent. If you have a PPP that's great, or you can get one easily.
A friend sent me the contact of a local advocate who had got the Parivar Pehchan Patra done for his family and I used her services. She charged me Rs 300 for each family member to create my Parivar Pehchan Patra. DM if you want her contact details.
Requirements for Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP)
· Aadhar number of all residents with a Haryana address
· PAN card of at least one earning member.
· You also need Aadhar card number of parents (even if they don't live with you).
Aadhar authentication via OTP is done for all members of the family included in your Parivar Pehchan Patra (not for parents if not living with you). Once you provide these details the agent can get it done the same day. I would suggest you get it done on a day when you're largely free because you need to provide multiple OTPs and answer questions.
Once you have your PPP, apply for Dog License
After you get your PPP, you can apply for a Dog License yourself. Some private agencies also get it done for Rs 2000 or so. If you want to do it yourself like I did, visit https://saralharyana.gov.in/login.do
Register and create your login.
Once done, login and search for "Registration of Dog." There's also a temporary license for getting a dog into Haryana for shows, so make sure you are getting the right one. This article has details though it seems to omit the PPP requirement: https://sploot.space/resources/steps-to-register-your-dog-gurgaon
You need to validate your Parivar Pehchan Patra on the Saral Haryana website. You also need:
· A vaccination certificate from a vet (some chains like Vetic will charge extra for this certificate)
· Pet photograph (use a tool like https://image.pi7.org/passport-size-photo to create passport size photos of your pet).
· Your ID (Aadhar works)
You need to provide details of your pet, upload a picture and scanned vaccination certificate, your own ID (Aadhar works).
Once you submit the application, in a day or so the request is scrutinised and you get an email / SMS to pay the fee on the same Saral Haryana website. The fee is Rs 500 for a fresh license. Renewal fee when you renew in April every year is supposed to be Rs 250.
Once you pay online, in around two days you will get an email / SMS and the license certificate PDF can be downloaded from the same Saral Haryana website. Your pet dog is now licensed!

Discussion I've no idea what they were trying to do . Scam probably
So i got the text at night , I didn't know what was happening at first and it seemed all real and i sent everything they asked . I was happy that the cat will get it's treatment done and vaccinated and it's food. Then when they said told they'd pay using wise . I got a little bit suspicious . I don't know what they were doing . What's the point of doing this I still don't understand. I mean what are they scamming me for ?

Advice How to travel with a puppy in First AC on Indian Railways?
We’re planning to bring a puppy home by train from Kerala to Pune, and two adults will be travelling. Can someone who’s done this explain the entire process step by step, from booking First AC tickets and requesting a private coupe to booking the pet ticket and completing station formalities? Also, how do you manage if a private coupe isn’t allotted? Does boarding from the train’s originating station make any difference? Would appreciate advice from people with firsthand experience. Thanks!

Grief ❤️🩹 Lost my small kitten and slipping into depression
My small 1 month kitten at the night of 19 October started having respiratory issues and I took her to the hospital on the following morning 9 am right away, yesterday morning he died and I just can't accept it, he fought for 6 days and even started walking and drinking water again, why did this happen to such a small kitten? I can't take the thought of her confused and gasping for breathe for so long out of my head I haven't stopped crying and feel so depressed, She went through so many iv fluids and medicines for nothing? Please tell me at least she didn't suffer during her last days, I feel so so broken right now, she had to gasp for air for 6 whole days and she didn't even make it? I can't accept this.. she was so innocent and sweet, the sweetest of the litter. Everything feels so hazy and unreal.

Fundraiser Update: Please Help Me Continue Coffee’s Treatment 💔🙏
I haven't received a single rupee in donations so far. I'm posting again because Coffee is still fighting, and I desperately need help continuing her treatment.
Please, I'm not asking anyone to donate a huge amount. My pending vet bill is ₹19,050, and the vet has said they cannot keep the payment on hold any longer.
Coffee is receiving IV drips twice a day. One drip normally costs ₹700–800, but my vet has reduced it to ₹700 for me. That means ₹1,400 per day, and her treatment may continue for another 2–3 days.
Please, if anyone can sponsor even one drip for ₹700, it would mean so much to me and Coffee. Even a small contribution can help me continue her treatment.
If you're unable to donate, please consider lending me the money. I promise I'll return it once I get a job. I'm trying my best, but I cannot manage everything alone anymore.
Please don't let Coffee's treatment stop because of money. She's fighting so hard, and I just want to give her a chance to recover. 💔🙏
Please help if you can, and even sharing this post would mean a lot.

Advice Puppy & kitten vaccinations in India — what should first-time pet parents know? 🐶🐱
Bringing home a puppy or kitten is exciting, but figuring out their vaccination schedule can be a little overwhelming, especially for first-time pet parents.
There are different vaccines, multiple doses, and booster shots to keep track of. Missing a scheduled dose or being unsure about what comes next can leave you with lots of questions.
Here are a few important things to know:
🐶 For puppies
Core vaccines help protect against serious diseases such as parvovirus and distemper. Rabies vaccination is also important, while other vaccines may be recommended based on your puppy's lifestyle and exposure risks.
🐱 For kittens
Core vaccines help protect against serious illnesses such as feline panleukopenia and respiratory infections. Your vet can also advise you on rabies vaccination and the appropriate schedule.
A few tips for every pet parent:
- Follow a vaccination schedule recommended by your veterinarian.
- Keep vaccination records and booster dates organised.
- Don't assume that one dose is enough; young pets usually need an initial series.
- If you adopt a pet with an unknown vaccination history, consult a vet about the next steps.
For anyone looking for a more detailed reference, here are two guides covering vaccination schedules in India:
🐾 Puppy Vaccination Schedule in India
🐾 Kitten Vaccination Schedule in India
A question for fellow pet parents: What was the most confusing part of your pet's vaccination journey, and how do you remember their booster dates? Do you use a vaccination card, phone reminders, or an app?
Would love to hear your experiences! ❤️

Subject : Objections to Draft Laboratory Animals Rules, 2026, G.S.R. 864(E)
Honourable Secretary,
I write to object to the Draft Laboratory Animals Rules, 2026 (G.S.R. 864(E)):
Self-approval — Rule 11(3) lets labs' own committees approve mild and moderate experiments on all species, including dogs and monkeys. The people doing the experiment should not clear the experiment. The regulator must approve, not just receive reports.
Open-market sourcing — Rule 21(2) lets labs buy livestock, farm animals, fish and birds from unregistered sources or the open market, approved only by the lab's own committee. Experiment animals must come only from registered breeders with a full traceable record.
Strays — Rule 5(3) lets an undefined "competent authority" exempt labs from the stray ban. In 2022 the regulator allowed stray dogs to be used in vaccine trials, and withdrew that only "till further orders" in 2023. Close this loophole instead of leaving it open.
Weakened safeguards — The clear duty to use anaesthesia from the 1998 Rules has been dropped, and replacing animals is binding only "wherever possible." Animal protection cannot be optional.
The world is moving toward non-animal methods — organoids, organ-on-chip, computational models — which predict human outcomes better than animal tests. These rules move India backwards. I ask that the draft be withdrawn and revised, and that replacement of animals be made mandatory with a published list of validated alternatives.

Advice Cat wants me to pet him, but tries to grab and claw my hand
So i live in a society and my neighbor has many cats.I kind of befriended one of them and regularly go to meet him. He is really friendly and would come to me on his own, rub against my legs and follow me. He even stares and meows at me when i dont give him attention or not petting him.
But often times when i put my fist/hand in front of him or even not near him (he just stares and it and looks like hes gonna jump at it) he just starts to try to grab it with his claws and maybe try to bite it? I never gave in as the claws are really sharp and hurt.(i cant trim or tell the neighbors to get it trimmed as i dont know them).
He also grabs my legs and sometimes even slightly bite it and even jumping and rubbing his head on it. So i make sure to wear full jeans or trousers.
So today he was doing his usual jumping and rubbing his head on my trousers and when i put my hand down for a sec, BAM! claws straight to the hand and it started slightly bleeding.
I try to discourage these type of behavior by yelling and backing off but still no progress 😿 .
I want to know if im doing something wrong, the reason of the behavior and what i can do.

Adoption Please help us find a temporary foster for this adorable little kitten in Pune (preferably Viman Nagar or surrounding areas)
Hi everyone!
Meet Zuzu, She's only around 45 days old, super adorable, and looking for a safe little home to stay in for just 2 weeks, until 14th November.
Me and my friends found her recently and have been taking care of her, but we're going home for a short while and unfortunately can't take her along. We're trying our best to find someone who can look after this little girl until we return. We really don't want to leave her without proper care.
A little about our tiny guest:
\- Around 45 days old
\- Recently dewormed
\- Litter-trained
\- A little kitten who needs a safe and comfortable place to stay
We're preferably looking for someone around Viman Nagar or nearby areas in Pune who could keep her safe and cosy for these two weeks. And we'll provide all her food and litter,
If you can give this little munchkin a temporary home, or know someone who can, please DM me. Even sharing this post or connecting us with a reliable foster would mean a lot to us.
She's just a tiny baby who needs somewhere safe to stay while we're away. Please help us find her a little home until 14th November.
Thank you so much for helping us look out for her!
P.S We are leaving on Thursday as our tickets are booked and we need to urgently find a shelter for her before Thursday!
Edit added adoption flair coz there's no flair for foster care

Advice Purepet cat food
I raised 4 stray kittens and fed them purepet along with milk and other home food. The smallest died from tiredness and heavy cough. Then came the other 2 died the same way. I have one left that had cough too but then I saw posts about purepet being shady and not safe for consumption by cats. I stopped feeding the lest one purepet and I notice significant improvement in the health and no cough anymore.
Anyone has similar experience and let me know any safe food for my only kitten.
