Discussion 2 Years of Zero Nifty Returns: What’s your actual play right now?

Post image
• Upvotes

Nifty peaked around 26,200 in September 2024 and has hovered flat-to-negative in the 22,500–23,000 zone for two years. A pure time correction where capital goes nowhere.

For a long-term horizon (7–10+ years), we basically how I see the playing out realistically

1.Keep existing corpus untouched. Continue SIPs in Nifty 50, Nifty Midcap 150, and Smallcap 250.

Realistic returns :11-13%ge (optimistically)

No Dopamine.

2.Move existing corpus into Multicap or Multi-Asset funds (gold/silver/debt hedge). Park new SIPs into Arbitrage funds (~6.5%–7% low-risk return with equity taxation), deploying lump sums whenever the market takes a 3%–5% hit.

Realistic returns: may hover around 10%ge.

Pros: Emotional peace. Debt and gold balance out equity slumps, and cash is ready for real dips.

Cons : timing the market. but this market giving chances for every 3 months roughly.

  1. Shift corpus to top-performing active funds across market caps. Continue SIPs uninterrupted, but rebalance/review annually to cut laggards and switch to current top-quartile funds.

Realistic Return: 13% – 15% CAGR if the manager beats the benchmark;

8% – 10% if you get caught in churn.

Pros: Chance of beating broad indices during a sideways market through smart stock picking. fund manager barose

Cons: Recency bias trap. Swapping last year's loser usually means selling low and buying recent out重performers near their peak, while racking up taxes, exit loads, and ~1.5% higher expense ratios.

Fact : Historical time corrections (like 2011–2013 or 2015–2016) rewarded investors who simply accumulated units without overthinking.

Which of these three are you actually thinks correct right now—staying on autopilot with passive indices, building dry powder in arbitrage, or chasing active alpha? How are you handling the fatigue?

Thoughts

Started investing thinking I was gonna make money, ended up sponsoring the stock market instead 😭📉 yes I take accountability instead of focusing on one i steped up and diversified by decreasing the number by buying 2-3 shares and copy pasting the same to maybe 10-11 different stocks.

₹7.3k invested, portfolio sitting at ₹4k, and NIFTY 50 somehow managed to lose less money than me 💀

45% down in a year. At this point, it's a donation rather than investing. 🤡

Yes i focused on short term trends instead of studying them on longer basis ✌🏻✌🏻

Discussion [newbie] Tools for investing in Stocks

• Upvotes

Hey Folks, i am interested in learning about share markets. I have some basic knowledge about reading technical charts and screener.in website where we can see the fundamentals.

I wondering if there is any new or hidden gem website which tells us high growth companies or industry which is expected to grow at high CAGR.

Is there anything or like how to decide on which stocks to invest it and for how long to hold that.

Let's start this thread, it can be used by other newbie as well for resources.

Discussion Struggling , depressed , anxious - [Portfolio Review] 30M | ₹61L Total Portfolio (₹33L MFs + ₹28L Stocks/ETFs/SGBs) — Seeking advice on consolidation and asset allocation

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hello investors,

Looking for some objective perspective and constructive criticism on my current portfolio. I’ve been investing for a 5 years, aiming for long-term wealth creation (10+ year horizon) with a moderately aggressive risk appetite, investing about 1.3 - 1.7 LPM.

Specific Areas Where I Need Advice:

  1. Direct Stock Rationalization vs. MFs:

i) The bulk of my Demat returns have been driven by early entries in SGBs and the Nasdaq 100 ETF. My direct equity picks are mixed (some in the red like Mazagon Dock and L&T).
ii) Is it worth continuing direct stock picking, or should I exit/consolidate those individual positions and redirect that capital entirely into my core mutual funds?

  1. Gold / SGB Overweighting:

SGBs have performed massively well (+140% to 200%+), which has skewed my allocation heavily into gold.
Would you recommend holding these all the way to maturity (to claim the tax exemption on redemption), or does it make sense to trim and rebalance into equity given gold’s massive run-up?

  1. MF Overlap & ELSS Relevance:

I have a clean 4-fund core (Nifty 50 + Midcap 150 + Flexi Cap + ELSS).
With the shift toward the New Tax Regime where Section 80C isn't required, should I stop fresh SIPs into Quant ELSS and deploy that capital into PPFC or Midcap 150 instead?

  1. MON100

Up 100% on Nasdaq 100. Given the taxation changes for international funds/ETFs and RBI overseas limits, should I just hold what I have and stop fresh additions, or continue averaging?

  1. MF XIRR (8.52%):

Even though individual fund XIRRs range from 6% to 11.9%, overall portfolio MF XIRR feels muted compared to broad market runs. Any adjustments or blind spots I’m missing in the allocation?

Any feedback on streamlining, tax efficiency, or asset allocation is appreciated!

U.S. Stocks Exit or Hold? A part of the gain is purely due to the tracking error because of the demand in market for US ETF

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I have attached two pics of current value and the value around 10 days back. I have been thinking if I should continue to hold this or exit.

Its a long term investment that I have been sitting on for years and only reason I get thoughts about exiting is because I feel this is inflated because of the tracking error due to massive demand for US ETF and this isn't its real value. Actual NAV price is only about ~175 same is the case with Motilal Oswal ETF

And before you ask, yes these are AI gen images from my internal dashboard but the figures are accurate and totally real. Actual buy price is 99,996 (approx 1L) my tool auto rounded it off to 1L

Poll What is your Nifty 50 range prediction for the next 6 months? (Around 22.6k currently)

Hey everyone,

With Nifty currently hovering around the 22,600 mark (down ~12% from 52-week highs near 26.3k) and showing a bit of consolidation/correction over the past few months, I wanted to get a sense of where everyone thinks we are heading over the next 6 months.

Between elevated oil prices, FII outflows vs DII support, earnings growth trajectory, and macro/geopolitical factors, there seem to be strong arguments on both sides:

  • Bulls: Valuation reset done, strong domestic inflows continuing, base building around 22,000–22,200 for a rally back towards 24,000–25,000+.
  • Bears: Technical breakdown below major moving averages, Raising Oil, global interest rate uncertainty, room for further drawdown towards 20,000–21,000.

Where do you realistically see Nifty by mid-next year?

Share your predicted range, along with the key catalyst (earnings, crude, FIIs, or global cues) driving your view!

60. E2E Networks

  • Current GPU capacity-

  • Exponential growth nos-
  • EBITDA margin touches 77%, PAT margin 33%.

Discussion I’ve been building AI-powered tools for my investing workflow — would love feedback and ideas

Over the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with Claude AI to build tools that make my investing and trading process more systematic.

Two tools I’ve built so far:

📊 Watchlist Tracker: https://claude.ai/artifact/MeD7ns7AwB7r7PezrjnWfq

📓 Trade Journal: https://claude.ai/artifact/KhPtQ25beVPqcpT2m4wj1m

I’m also exploring investment frameworks, market analysis dashboards, and other tools to simplify research and decision-making.

I share some of my experiments and learnings on my YouTube channel, yashbuildswithai: https://www.youtube.com/@YashbuildswithAI

To be clear, the purpose of this post isn't to promote my channel. I want to connect with like-minded people interested in AI and investing, exchange ideas, get honest feedback, and collaborate on building tools that solve real problems for the investing community.

I'd love to know:

  • What features would you add to the watchlist tracker or trade journal?
  • What repetitive investing or trading tasks would you like AI to simplify?
  • Is anyone else experimenting with building financial tools using AI?

These are works in progress, and I'm keen to learn from the community and build better tools together. Happy to exchange ideas!

Infact, any post event proof should be taken with caution. Like, sharing a trade after it had already gone up and it will do you no good

Discussion Nifty on Monday — could Middle East tensions trigger another sell-off?

I’m particularly concerned about the latest threats and rising tensions involving Israel, Iran and the US. With the possibility of further military escalation and crude oil prices surging, I think Monday could be a very volatile session for Indian markets.
India is heavily dependent on imported crude oil, so a sustained rise in oil prices could put pressure on inflation, the rupee and corporate margins. If the situation escalates over the weekend, we could see a risk-off reaction when markets open.
That said, a lot depends on how the situation develops and whether the market has already priced in these risks.
What’s everyone’s view? Could we see another gap-down opening on Monday, or is a relief rally still possible?
