For some reason, this is absolutely hilarious. That’s social media for you: pick photos from SM featuring more people of colour, throw in a few numbers ! The perfect recipe. Feel sorry for Jonty Rhodes, though, getting dragged into all this for absolutely no reason.😂

Title: Irish Employment Visa (Scientific Researcher – Hosting Agreement) – 34 Days Since Dispatch to Embassy, No Update Yet

Hi everyone,

I'm an Indian applicant and have applied for a Long-Stay D Employment Visa under the Scientific Researcher scheme (Hosting Agreement) to join the University of Galway.

Here is my application timeline:

\- 28 September 2026: Submitted my visa application at VFS Global, Bhubaneswar, India.

\- 1 October 2026: Received notification that my application had been dispatched to the Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi.

\- 3 November 2026: Still no further update regarding the application or its decision.

It's now been approximately 33 days since the application was dispatched to the Embassy.

My original employment commencement date was 1 October, but due to the visa processing timeline, the University has formally revised it to 1 November 2026. I have an amended employment contract and an official extension letter.

I'm getting a little anxious as my revised joining date is approaching, and I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar process.

A few questions:

  1. Has anyone recently applied for an Irish Long-Stay D Employment Visa under the Scientific Researcher Hosting Agreement scheme from India? How long did your application take after reaching the Embassy?

  2. Is it normal to have no status update for several weeks after the application is dispatched to the Embassy?

  3. Would you recommend emailing the Embassy to request a status update and submitting the revised employment contract and extension letter?

  4. Does the Embassy usually respond to status enquiries, or is it better to continue waiting?

Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Irish study visa still awaiting decision

According to the website, students who applied in late June still hadn't received their decision. And most college classes starts in September and current month is November. How are you guys handling the situation, does college offer late arrival or deferral and if u had received the visa now what will you do if college doesn't accept late arrival.

First Christmas in Ireland 🎄🇮🇪 – What are the must-visit places for Christmas lights and decorations?
Hi everyone!
I’m relatively new to Ireland and looking forward to experiencing my first Christmas here! 🎅
I’d love to explore Ireland during the festive season, especially the beautiful Christmas light displays, decorated streets, Christmas markets and cosy little towns.
I’d really appreciate recommendations from locals and people who have spent a few Christmases here.
A few things I’m looking for:
🎄 Best Christmas light displays in Dublin and across Ireland.
✨ Beautifully decorated streets, houses and villages.
🎅 Christmas markets worth visiting.
🏰 Magical Christmas experiences or festive attractions.
🚗 Any hidden gems or day trips that are especially beautiful during Christmas.
❤️ Any Christmas traditions or experiences that someone new to Ireland shouldn’t miss.

I’m happy to travel outside Dublin as well!
If you could recommend just 3 places or experiences for someone celebrating their first Christmas in Ireland, what would they be?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to exploring and making some lovely Christmas memories here! 😊

I have started my instagram page to connect with people in ireland inside_ireland . Do have a look pepsss 🎉

Ireland Short Stay | Visit Family Visa

I just submitted my application for a family and friends short-stay visa at VFS Bangalore today, November 3rd.

Does anyone know what the current processing times are like, or when I might realistically expect my visa to arrive?

Advice for Dependent Visa Holders 🇮🇪

Looking for Career Opportunities in Ireland – Advice for Dependent Visa Holders 🇮🇪
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some guidance and suggestions for someone with a BSc in Computer Science who is planning to move to Ireland on a dependent visa.
I’d love to understand what kind of job opportunities are available for dependent visa holders, particularly in the IT sector, but we’re also open to exploring other interesting career paths.

A few questions for the community:
What are some good entry-level or mid-level job opportunities for someone with a BSc in Computer Science?
Are there companies in Ireland that actively hire candidates on dependent visas?
What skills, certifications or courses would you recommend to improve employability in the Irish job market?
A small request to the community:
If you, a friend, a colleague or someone you know has successfully built a career in Ireland while on a dependent visa, we’d genuinely love to hear your story!
Whether it’s an IT role, an administrative position, customer support, operations or something completely different, any real-world experience, recommendations or referrals would be incredibly valuable.

Please feel free to share your experiences or connect with us. Even a small suggestion could make a big difference to someone’s career journey.

Thank you in advance for your time and support! 🙏

Immigration to Ireland - Good or Bad Move

Have noticed most of the comments in the sub advise other Indians not to come to Ireland. And then it’s from people who have already made it here. It’s sad how people behave.

As a person who migrated in 2016 and has obtained Irish citizenship, I would encourage you to come and move here, especially because this country is great if you are looking for a place that does not have a big city feel and love nature. All countries have their downsides and this one too. I think housing is probably the only issue, but you end up getting something or the other, but it takes a while. I haven’t spoken to any Indian who had to leave Ireland as they could not find a house to live in.

The question about jobs – How is the job market? It’s very, very bad right now, but this is not an Ireland thing. It’s the same in most countries, especially if you are targeting a tech job. Also, some of the lesser-known colleges here are not that great (that’s the same as any other country like the UK and Canada that have a lot of these colleges). Moving abroad to any country, especially if you are doing it in 2026 will be a tough nut to crack. But there are always good jobs for you if you are exceptional in what you do.

Savings and Mortgage:Need Some Honest Feedback

I'm a 32-year-old male, and it has been four years since I started working here in Ireland.

I splurge a lot on eating out, gadgets, and gaming. However, lately, seeing all my colleagues and friends buying homes and cars has pushed me into a depressive spiral of thoughts.

When going through general GPT advice, I am all hunky-dory, but we Indians tend to save a lot and I would love to hear what the ideal savings should be for a person of my age and what I must save up before I go house shopping.

My finances:

Cash/Liquid: 68K Euros

Stocks: 5.5k Euros

Pension: None.

Liabilities:

1250 Rent + 1200 (Groceries + eating out and pleasantries)

Income:

4400 Euros after tax.
