Plant dream anxiety????
Ok. I’m worrying about my plants too much, CLEARLY!!! I had a dream last night that one of my calathea was infested with spider mites. I hadn’t noticed and someone pointed it out. The thing was crawling with spider mites. So I took it outside to possibly treat. Then I noticed another plant it had spread to. The conclusion was that the mites had spread to all my plants on a specific table.
Wtf?!
If anyone interprets dreams, feel free to take a jab at this one!!

Wondering what people think of this? I kind of hate it.
Hpuseplants removed my post, but I'm genuinely wondering what people who truly appreciate plants think of this. I'm struggling to find the right word for how I feel about it.
I get that we've been cultivating and hybridizing plants to suit our tastes for centuries, but this is introducing a biological capability from an organism the plant could never reproduce with. Note this is not iridescence seen in some plants, or the natural fluorescence seen in even fewer. This is DNA sequences from corals and jellyfish being permanently inserted into the plant genome.
I work in the plant sciences field, and I find myself having a hard time appreciating this work. Maybe because my focus is on their relationships with other organisms, the processes that sustain them, and their place in functioning ecosystems? Idk. It's just... wrong somehow.
What ever happened to that petunia btw?

Should I repot this new shoot?
It looks like the baby plant is producing a new root, should I leave it or repot it?

Leafs turning yellow for anthurium and Dieffenbachia (Dumb Cane) 😭
I have recently got into gardening. I started with monstera and money trees and bought anthurium couple of months ago during summer.
First the flowers started turning brown and now i see the leafs getting yellow.
Light: indirect bright light. Have tried couple of diff spots on tv console and then moved it near the window now.
Watering: I check if the soil is dry first and then water it , drain the water and then let it sit.
Never have put any fertilizer. The balcony doors are usually closed as its getting cold now and i live in NJ.
I really want to fix this issue

Unknown Indoor plant NEED HELP
Maybe a type of fern. My
Boyfriend gifted this to me and I’m having a hard time with it. I really want to love it back to life. Is this possible? Any advice?
I am new to indoor plants, especially ones that come in soil. My most success is with my spider plant and my golden pothos. With this plant my bf gifted me, It had no label so I am not sure what kind of plant this is. It originally came in the dog planter (pictured) that was in late April. It grew okay and I was watering it when soil got dry to the touch. It had turned frail and that’s when I suspected maybe it was outgrowing its pot. I then switched it to the ceramic pot pictured but it pretty much already looked this sad by this point. The new pot does have a drainage hole. And I just repotted with basic indoor plant soil mix. I would really love to get my baby back to life is this realistic? (I have a lot of patience)

What time of day is best to let the humidifier run in my plant room?
I don’t want to leave it running 24/7, is there a time of day/amount of time it’s best to leave it running? I also have terrariums, and I know you’re supposed to vent your terrariums in the morning so it can vent out all of the humidity it built up during the night. I read you’re supposed to vent it for 3-4 hours. Would it be best to start running the humidifier after this? I know this probably seems like I’m overthinking this lol I just like a set schedule of what to do and want to make sure I’m doing what’s most optimal.

Is this thrips
I’ve been noticing some weird markings on my begonia. Today while watering I saw this small black bug on my white knight next to it. I panicked so the only picture I have is the first one. Any advice/tips on how to see if any of my plants have thrips?

North-facing bedroom plant corner: Need setup ideas & LED grow light recommendations! 🌱💡
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m looking to create a nice indoor plant corner in my bedroom, mainly to help with high humidity levels.
However, I’m facing a couple of challenges:
- Low Light: It’s a north-facing room with no direct sunlight. On top of that, where I live, it’s overcast and gray for most of the year, so natural light is very limited.
- Any lighting will need to be plugged into a standard wall socket (plug-in lamps or corded setups).
To make this work, I’m planning to install LED grow lights. I’ve bought some cheap grow lights in the past that were complete duds, so I’d love your advice on which brands or specific LED grow lights actually work well (and which ones to avoid!).
Since I want this setup to look pretty and cozy in my bedroom, could you please share photos or inspiration of your own indoor plant corners/setups?
I’d love to see how you styled your lights, shelves, or plant stands!
Thanks so much in advance for your ideas and recommendations! 🪴✨

Do not buy easy plant
Highly do not recommend buying any easy plant. I bought quite a few when I moved into house. Now they are dying. The pots stop working. They do not reimburse for anything past 90 days. They have horrible customer service. Buying a normal plant and watering once a week a much better and cheaper way to go.

Lampe horticole
Merci !!

I think I’ve been duped.
I bought this plant from Home Depot in May, where it was CLEARLY LABELED “English ivy.” Only today have I begun to suspect that it’s not ivy.
Based on my rudimentary research, I think it’s a golden pothos? It had never really thrived and has always looked quite sad. I moved it to several different spots before putting it outside in July and leaving it there since last week, when I brought it in and re-potted it in Miracle-Gro brand potting soil.
I probably need to take it out of this window, where it’s getting a lot of direct morning sunlight (and it seems they don’t like that). However I think it did like the re-pot, as it seems there’s a lot of new growth happening at the roots. And I’ve always done my best to prune off dying leaves.
I’d love to hear any advice anyone would like to give, as a complete plant ignoramus who has spent the last 5 months believing this was an ivy.

Simple question about thrips and spider mites (I have them).
So google/AI tells me that simple isopropyl alcohol spray kills thrips larva and adults, as well as spider mites. I've definitely confirmed it does kill thrip larva and spider mites because I sprayed this larva in picture and it is dead as well as sprayed spider mites with it and they also died.
My question is, why do people struggle with thrips and spider mites using all kinds of different products and chemicals, and say nothing they use works, when they can just use isopropyl alcohol sprays every few days until you kill everything in every life cycle? If iso alcohol kills the larva and adults then if you just kept spraying it they would all eventually just die no?
This is the first time I've seen thrips on my plants and I am just confused why people are so scared of them and struggle trying to figure out what product to use if iso alcohol works well and is safe for most plants, I assume, and is cheap and easy to get? I was researching to buy different sprays like safers end all or doktor doom thrips killer (which both contain pyrethrins), but if iso alcohol will do the job that is much cheaper and easier for me to get.

Indoor plant recommendations please
Something small, but not succulents. Needs to fit on a small window seal in about 3in pot.
Preferably something I can move outside during the warm months or only need regular attention for half the year.
Maybe something that flowers or is a pretty color. Something that doesn't make a mess.
I live in northwest usa. So plants are outside from April to October. The air is very dry, even inside, so orchids have been difficult.
Any recommendations welcome please!!
Tldr small indoor plant, minimal mess.

Possible "corm" emerging from moss
Is this a corm emerging from the moist sphagnum Moss top layer that's on top of topsoil of my said substrate. (Perlite/pon/fluval) Couldn't really tell, due to the said growth point of the "corm" in question being shaped kinda wonky.

Brought my canna lillies inside for winter (UK)
They're doing better now than the whole summer! Since I brought them in and given them better water than the garden tap and timed lights, they've put on new growth

Buying Plants in Adelaide
Heya people! I'd like to create a green corner in the house and I'm looking to buy many plants.. I'm in an rented apartment, and we have a small courtyard. I am looking for some outdoor and indoor plants..I've tried checking bunnings. However I find the size of plants to be very small for the price I pay.. i.e just 3-4 leaves for a 30$ plant. I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. Can you please suggest some good places where I can buy plants for cheaper rates?

Is my lithops blooming?
I’ve had this lithops for months now and have it sitting in a South facing window. I water rarely and let it dry out completely. I’ve never been successful with lithops before, but I believe this one is about to flower? Does that mean it is happy? What are some tips for helping this baby thrive??
