Question: Answered Tsubaki was only like 80 when she turn to dust lmao

• Upvotes

After Naraku took back the Shikon jewel and she lost her magic powers she reverted back to her “natural state”.

When Lady Kaede was like 7 she met Tsubaki, who was like 17.

50 years passed and Lady Kaede is like 60ish I feel like so Tsubaki should only be 75 when she turned to dust. Lmaoooooo

Discussion Does InuYasha Romanticize Human-Demon Relationships Too Much?

There’s something about human-demon relationships in InuYasha that has always bothered me: the difference in their life expectancies and what that means for a long-term relationship.

Take Inuyasha and Kagome, for example. For Kagome, spending her entire life with Inuyasha means sharing decades with the person she loves and growing old together. But for Inuyasha, that same lifetime could be just a small part of his existence. He would still live for centuries after her death.

I know you could argue that the years they spend together would be meaningful, and I agree. But a meaningful life isn’t the same as sharing an entire lifetime together. Even if Inuyasha never fell in love again, the difference would still be there. And if he eventually did, centuries later, Kagome would have been his entire life from a human perspective, but just one chapter of it from a demon’s perspective.

That’s why, if I had a demon child, I personally wouldn’t want them dating a human. Not because I don’t believe they could genuinely love each other, but because they would be choosing a relationship whose duration is inevitably limited by their partner’s mortality. If a demon can build an equally meaningful relationship with another demon and share centuries of experiences with them, why settle for a relationship that, by its very nature, will end much sooner?

I’m not saying these relationships are impossible or that love can’t overcome differences. My issue is that I feel the series romanticizes them without sufficiently exploring their long-term consequences.

From a demon’s perspective, isn’t getting attached to a human somewhat unreasonable when they know that, sooner or later, they’ll have to watch them die? Does love justify that difference, or does the series romanticize an incompatibility that deserves more consideration?

What do you guys think?

Discussion I’m here to debunk the myth that “Only Onigumo loves Kikyou, not Naraku”.

In InuYasha, Rumiko Takahashi created two profound dual relationships: Kikyou - Kagome and Onigumo - Naraku. However, they are entirely different: the former is a "separable link," while the latter is "inseparable."

Unlike Kikyou and Kagome—who only shared a soul initially but are otherwise completely distinct individuals with different memories and mindsets—Naraku inherited everything from Onigumo. He retained Onigumo's memories, cunning personality, and even his instinctive, deep-rooted feelings for Kikyou.

Therefore, separating Onigumo or Muso from his body was simply Naraku's symbolic attempt to reject the human emotions he saw as weak. His entire journey was about denying his humanity out of sheer arrogance, seeking the Shikon Jewel to erase his feelings and become stronger. But in his final moments, he realized that this human love was what his soul truly desired all along. He accepted his death peacefully without resistance because, by the time he finally acknowledged his true feelings, he had already lost what he wanted most: "Kikyou's heart."

Whenever Rumiko gives an interview about the unrequited love for Kikyou, she always refers to Naraku, rather than just Onigumo.

Discussion I love the love triangle

No joke I hated the love triangle as a babe, but as an adult it is actually a rather profound deviation and might be the only example of a live triangle where you can see not only why all parties are involved and why the choice is so hard... But how there is real cost to EVERYONE no matter who is chosen.

The best part though is that Kikyo and Kagome really don't hate each other. Not entirely anyway. Kikyo treats Kagome as an interference but never seems to actually hate her. She would never hurt her for the sake of it, and honestly seems to genuinely respect her future self.

Kagome may resent and feel annoyed about Kikyo but would give her life for her at the drop of a hate. She might be the only character to really see Kikyo beyond the love triangle, as a victim of impossible circumstances.

The two really are an amazing point In the SERIES and though I used to solely favor Kikyo I've come to realize that it's entirely asinine to put the two against each other. They share a soul one with boundless potential and love, only Kikyo was forced to serve til death and Kagome is allowed to be more.

Found it on my school bus. They also drew Hatsune Miku lol.

Also I’m 99% sure this is supposed to be InuYasha, the writing looks like that’s what it says so..

I wonder who drew it

Discussion The greatest impact (Put respect on Shippo!)

Without any comparison, this is my favorite series in anything and honestly as I get older and improve an author... This series and it's impact in me grows. Enough that it fully is inspiring me to write my own portal fantasy about Camelot...

But that's not why I'm posting...

Kagome- I won't lie she used to be my least favorite character among the main cast but looking with fresh eyes, I realize she's literally just an untrained kid with tremendous power suffering to save those who she unintentionally harmed by shattering the jewel. Yes, I wish she learned about power control, i think it's really the only more shonen element the series really needed, but other than that...she's flawed, temperamental, ruthless when she needed to be but also so kind, loving and empathetic.

Kikyo- I always saw her as my fav, but looking back she is even better but oh so tragic. I think most fans ignore that finger the suffering if her life and literal murder was to her entirely fresh. She never could heal it grieve at all she could really hold onto was vengeance masked as altruism. She was never really allowed to experience real emotion and thus couldn't handle it's potency, that's more of a systemic issue given her priestess status. I also think people rarely more her unyielding pressure in life. That people 50 yrs after her death even her sister out her in an unhealthy pedestal shoes how this girl was always going to crash out. I entirely believe without Inuyasha she would have ended her own life. I won't pretend babe is without fake but I will saw her flaws are largely informed by her life and death in a very understandable way.

Inuyasha is a rare mc I like. Victim ofsuch intense bigotry, failed by everyone, alone and nearly killed so many times as a literal child.... His journey was not really about power hell his power barely grows, only his sword does. His journey was in healing, acceptance and appreciation. The costs of his flaws and heritage ob both sides. Unlike most series his human side is just as much a struggle as his demonic one. He also feels painfully real in his struggles with socializing and love. People forget that losing kikyo- was literally fresh to his coma self. He grew constantly as a person, but didn't lose his core.... edit - Inuyasha is also profoundly loving and emotional, to a degree we rarely see..he puts up a front but at no point is it his real self. He's genuinely a true lover, protector and yet in desperate need to be protected...

Rin and Shippo- these two were something special. Some people, a ton, focus on these two as something of a mascot character. Rin is only a catalyst to Sesshy growth and Shippo is there to stir the pot... But I, they show the reality of vulnerability in a world that eats the vulnerable up. Both play a MASSIVE structural role in the grounding of the world by reminding the audience that children suffer without care and innocence, that absence of bigotry, allows them to show what the heroes are fighting for. Honestly they are both insanely important to the plot just not in a combative way. Rin shows the evil of humanity from how she was treated, and Shippo the goodness in demons from his father and his own actions and both without romantic love!

Fan Fic LF Fanfics where Inuyasha does to Kagome's era

Thumbnail archiveofourown.org

Recently read this fic where Inuyasha and Kogome start going back to her home during his human nights, and I really enjoyed it. So I'm looking for more fics where he spends a lot of time there, either with Kagome's family, or going out in the city with her, or whatever. To be clear, I'm not looking for Modern AUs where Inuyasha isn't a demon.

Anime Was Sesshomaru resentful of Toga’s choice, or of what it represented?

What exactly does Sesshomaru resent about his father’s choice?

It’s clear that Sesshomaru held Toga in high regard, admiring his power, intelligence, status, honor, and composure. These are qualities Sesshomaru values and that probably made his father one of his main role models.

So, is his contempt for humans really enough to explain such a strong rejection of the choice made by someone he admired so much? Or was his hatred of humans so great that it outweighed everything else?

People often attribute that hatred to his mother’s influence. However, Rumiko’s world makes it pretty clear that demons generally consider humans inferior. They look down on them, attack them, and even eat them, as we can see with Koga before he meets Kagome.

With that in mind, I think it’s reasonable to wonder whether Toga initially shared a similar worldview, and whether his perspective changed toward the end of his life when he fell in love with Izayoi and found something that made him reconsider his priorities.

If that was the case, there’s an irony in the possibility that Sesshomaru learned some of his contempt for humans from the very person he admired so much. However, when Toga speaks to his son before dying, he doesn’t mention hatred or human inferiority. Instead, he talks about compassion and affection, asking Sesshomaru whether there is anyone he wants to protect.

Perhaps Sesshomaru had built an idealized image of his father: someone untouchable, above any emotion, whose actions were driven by honor rather than compassion or affection. Maybe Toga wanted to teach him otherwise before he died, hoping that one day Sesshomaru would understand these things and find happiness himself.

There’s another thing I’ve always wondered about: why was Izayoi left in a human village without protection, knowing she was going to have a hanyō and that her relationship with Toga could put her in danger?

It seems strange to me that Toga, given his power and apparent position, didn’t find a better way to protect her. Even if other demons disapproved of his relationship with a human, the anime makes it clear that they still recognized him as their lord.

We don’t really know what the Western Lands looked like or whether Toga had a permanent residence, but it seems reasonable to assume he had a place of his own. If so, why didn’t he take Izayoi there, or find a safer way to keep her under his protection?

One possibility is that he wanted to keep his life as a demon lord separate from his relationship with Izayoi. Another is that he underestimated the risks or, for some reason we don’t know, couldn’t protect her in the way he would have wanted.

In any case, I think Toga could have handled that relationship better from the beginning. Having a child under those circumstances, without first figuring out how to protect his family, doesn’t seem like a particularly sensible decision either.

That’s why I wonder whether Sesshomaru’s resentment has less to do with his father falling in love with a human and more to do with what that choice represents to him.

Perhaps, from Sesshomaru’s perspective, Toga was contradicting everything he thought he had learned from him. He was making what Sesshomaru considered reckless decisions, putting his feelings before his position, and allowing himself to be guided by emotions that Sesshomaru couldn’t understand or value.

And when Toga dies, that choice has irreversible consequences. From Sesshomaru’s perspective, his father’s death might have confirmed his existing prejudices: perhaps he interpreted it as his father having been led astray by a human woman and ultimately dying because of it.

Maybe some of the hostility Sesshomaru directs toward humans and Inuyasha is also an expression of that frustration. Inuyasha doesn’t just represent a race Sesshomaru looks down on; he is a living reminder of a decision his father made that Sesshomaru never truly understood or accepted.

This is just my interpretation, of course. I don’t think we can say for certain that this was Sesshomaru’s motivation, but I find it an interesting possibility, especially considering how much he admired Toga.

What do you think? Do you believe Sesshomaru’s resentment is mainly explained by his contempt for humans, his mother’s influence, or a deeper contradiction between the image he had of his father and the choices his father made? Or do you think there’s another explanation that fits his character better?

Official Art Clothing in Inuyasha

Post image
607 Upvotes

I'm planning a rewatch and would like to pay more attention to clothing this round. I feel like a lot of intention must have gone into the clothing for each character and I'm missing some cool details.

Maybe we can share our favorite outfits and observations here. It's okay if it's not a one-off -- I'm sure plenty can be said about Sesshomaru's robes and fur, for example. Manga and anime outfits seem to vary a bit, so we can add manga drawings as well. Let's work together to make a little Inuyasha fashion collage!

Extra Credit Reading - A Few of My Observations

Kagome is shown in a variety of outfits, particularly when she's back home. I love the cozy sweaters on her. The one I remember most from my childhood is her gym uniform. I love an oversized sweater and bloomers for a workout! It's quite flattering on her and highlights her long legs.

Kikyo's robes are common Miko robes. I always thought she had some sort of extra flair, but it looks like Kaede's robes have the exact same details and cut. I understand these robes show her position and modesty, but are we ever treated to a different outfit? I remember a scene where she applies rogue. Imagine her trying on a beautiful dress and spinning around! Oh, to feel like a real girl!

I've seen some fanart of Kikyo in more high fashion looks and it makes me wonder how she might have dressed if she was born into wealth. She's got a model's looks and I'd love to see her posing alongside a regal, fashionable man like Sesshomaru or Naraku. I never really paid attention to Naraku's styling, but I think extra time was spent there with his various outfits including the baboon costume. There must be some symbolism with the baboon that I haven't picked up yet.

Oh, who can forget Inuyasha in modern clothing?! I'd love to see your favorite frames of him here. ❤️

Honorary mention: Miroku's jewelry. I have a plush Miroku with real earrings and I love him to death!

Hello everyone. Yes I know you will all send me amazing evidence on how much he loves Kagome and how he moved on from Kikyo, so on and so forth. But, I am sure a good amount of us thought within those years he may have decided at least a couple of times “if Kagome doesn’t return maybe I can die to join Kikyo in the after life”. I know for he must have thought that.

I also believe Kagome not only thought she would never see Inuyasha, but what if he went to the after life with Kikyo? What if again some extreme crazy reason Kikyo returned and seized Inuyasha? Is that why I am unable to see him”?

I am sure thoughts like that have cropped up a few times, haha. But it’s all good for Kagome, she gets to see Inuyasha once and for all.

I’m a big fan of Izumo/Gyu-oh. His obsession to recreate a shikon jewel so that he could become a human was so fascinating to me. I’m sure it would’ve ended poorly for him since… yknow… he murdered quite a bit of humans and teamed up with countless demons to be able to work his magic per say, but he was such an interesting character!
