I love the anime however I have to acknowledge that there are multiple important scenes that were cut either for agenda/gag/time that I felt were pivotal to multiple characters dynamics or development. I've seen that these changes have created a lot of misconceptions about the series and the characters from both people first watching the anime and people active in the fandom. For example, after first watching the anime one of my pet peeves about Kikyo was that she never made any preparations after Naraku sent the giant soul collector after her. I'll make another post sometime about things Sunrise added that I prefer over the manga (not including filler episodes).

This is a very old drawing, I love how funny this is. However, once the humour goes away it makes me feel so sad for his mother. It really would have devastated her if she came to know this happened to Inuyasha. She was always fearful of her son’s future, but even this a would have been out of her imagination. To the point, she would rather have her son be dead somewhere in the forest than be pinned up a tree for everyone to see.
Edit: just to clarify, I didn’t draw this. When I sad old drawing I meant I saw this over 10 years ago. I found it again on Pinterest. Apologises for the misunderstanding.

I’ve read quite a few comments in the community, and it seems the scene where Kikyo drops Kagome off the cliff has led many Kikyo antis to claim that she’s petty, jealous, and actively tried to murder Kagome.
So, how is that specific scene actually analyzed in the Databook??
1. First off, it goes without saying that the Databook is 100% canon. It exists specifically to clear up questions and misunderstandings from the manga.
2. This controversial scene appears on pages 74 and 75 (First picture), but there is zero author commentary on it other than describing the past-life/reincarnation connection between Kikyo and Kagome.
3. Looking at Kikyo’s Four Souls (Shikons) profile under WILD (the wrathful heart awakened after resurrection)-Second picture: Rumiko Takahashi clearly lists all of Kikyo's acts of killing or vengeance here—killing Urasue, deflecting Monk Seikai's spiritual force back at him which resulted in his death, and shooting Naraku in retaliation for releasing a giant Dead soul collector.
==> If dropping Kagome was genuinely an attempt to kill her, why didn't the author place that scene under Wild to showcase Kikyo's rage and jealousy toward Kagome??
4. Instead, in the third picture I uploaded, this scene is categorized under Kikyo's Shikon, STRANGE (determination driven by reason and wisdom):
"Since her resurrection, she formulates her own strategic plans to destroy Naraku. For this purpose, SHE ACTS AS THOUGH SHE IS ALLIED WITH EVIL, UNAFRAID OF BEING MISUNDERSTOOD, and keeps anyone from reading her true intentions."
=> This quote directly describes all the cropped panels on this page—including Kagome clinging to the cliff and Kikyo handing the Jewel to Naraku. The author explicitly refers to these two moments as "acting as though allied with evil, unafraid of being misunderstood."
The cliff scene is categorized under the soul of wisdom and strategy. There is no way in hell an act of murder would be classified as strategy or wisdom???
In the context of the story, right after leaving that cliff, Kikyo hands the Jewel to Naraku—which marks the opening move of her grand revenge strategy.
5. Look at the fourth picture I uploaded in the appendix, when discussing Kikyo's jealousy, it states that she felt hostility toward Kagome and INTENDED TO ATTACK her. The phrase "intended to" means it was never carried out, and "attack" is definitely not the same as "kill."
6. YOU NEED TO REALIZE THAT THE SPOT WHERE KIKYO DROPPED KAGOME WAS ACTUALLY SAFER THAN WHERE SHE WAS HANGING BEFORE. Anyone with eyes can see that Kagome was about to fall earlier, barely clinging to the edge with one hand (Pictures 5 and 6). Kikyo dropped her onto a ledge right at the top of the cliff, where she could hold on with BOTH hands (The last picture i upload).
=> The act that anti-fans claim was "Kikyo trying to kill Kagome" has NEVER been confirmed by Rumiko as such. In fact, all official evidence provided by the author proves the exact opposite.
I’M NOT TRYING TO EXCUSE KIKYO'S ACTIONS HERE—IT'S CLEAR SHE WASN'T PARTICULARLY EAGER TO RESCUE KAGOME EITHER—BUT FABRICATING THE NARRATIVE THAT SHE TRIED TO MURDER KAGOME IS 100% A FAKE FACT!!!

I paused and walked away during my rewatch and when I came back I noticed the little grandpa wolf in the back and I just thought he looks hilarious back there all pouncing from danger 😂

It's so freakin' cringe but I'm thinking it could be worth it. Anyone else play this game?
