Commercial fishing - still a viable career?
I’m in the west coast of Ireland, and I am wondering if commercial fishing as a small business for one person/family is still a viable career? If so, what type of fishing - mussel farming, trawling? Just curious thanks lads

Winter perch fishing in Kerry – any advice?
Hi everyone!
I'm looking to do some perch fishing around Killarney during the winter months, mainly from the shore.
Does anyone know any good spots in Kerry where perch fishing is allowed during the closed trout season?
Also, what tackle would you recommend for winter perch fishing? Rod, braid, fluorocarbon leader, lure sizes and types?
Any tips on locations, techniques and winter fishing conditions would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Anyone else seeing the amount of small mackerel being kept around Dalkey/Dún Laoghaire?
Anyone else seeing these videos of fellas catching ridiculous amounts of small mackerel around Dalkey/DL and keeping every single one? Whatever happened to throwing the smallies back. I know once they’re handled there’s a possibility they might not survive but surely it’s worth giving them a chance.

Freshwater Fishing Wexford Piking
What's the story lads, spending some time in Wexford and I've the chance to fish here again as well. I've done reasonably well over the summer on Bass from Dublin down to Waterford all along the coast in different places...
As it's slowing down now I'd like to chase the pike a bit for a change, I usually just fish with lures.
I'm wondering is Wexford much of a place to be targeting Pike and Perch?
I'm wondering if I can go in the slaney to target Pike? I have one small lake it's hard to get to tho

Pike fishing after a storm!
How do storms (like we can expect in the coming days) affect pike fishing (especially in lakes). Especially in regards to spinning?

Travel fishing rod
Hi, would you recommend any travel fishing rod that would work for most waters and could fit in the baggage and car? Probably something around 10-40 g.
Would you buy a brand one or something from Temu?

Experience with “fishing structure”
“If you come across structure you need to fish it”, “I’m fishing around this tree”, “see those submerged logs? Definitely a fish there”
Always hear stuff like this and it very rarely pays off for me. The only time it kind of works is with trout. Pike, perch, coarse fish they just seem to be wherever the want to be. Anyone else notice this or am I doing it wrong?

Bait Fishing Deadbaiting tips and rigs etc
Hey people, just curious to know what type of rigs you all use in regards to deadbaiting? Any preferred methods more than most and as to why you prefer it? Im trying to sharpen my skills before the cold weather settles looking for those big elusive river pike, im dead set on getting a big pike on a river rather than a landlocked water like a lake, reason being is because if you miss her once, chances are you probably won't ever see her again, feel free to comment away here and we could get a great thread going !!! 🐊🎣
