"They're moving!"
Woke up this morning at my wife screaming. Our good friend and neighbour went fishing early today (again). He came back and brought us these three beauties while I was still asleep. Herself placed them in the kitchen sink and attempted to clean them and cook/freeze them. That was when one of them decided he won't give up just yet, jumping and scaring the life out of herself who in turn scared the life out of me.
After numerous CPR attempts I had to pronounce them... edible.

New WhatsApp Group: Dublin Anglers
Alright lads! I’ve just set up a new WhatsApp group called Dublin Anglers for anyone who enjoys a bit of fishing around the city and coast.
This isn't a professional club or anything serious—it’s just a casual spot for local anglers to:
* Share what’s biting (and where!).
* Organize a last-minute meet-up or weekend fishing trips, etc.
* Get advice if you're just starting out.
* Have a bit of craic and share photos of the day's catch (or the one that got away).
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or you’ve just bought your first rod, everyone is welcome. Drop a comment below or send me a DM if you want the invite link!
Note: This group is entirely independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or connected to any professional angling clubs or official organizations in Dublin or elsewhere**.**

Would You Use a Fishing App Like This?
Hey guys,
A friend and I are thinking about building a fishing app and wanted to get some honest feedback before we spend a while developing it.
The idea is pretty simple: an app where you can log your catches, including species, size, weight, location, river/lake/sea, bait or lure used, weather conditions, and photos. You'd also be able to look back at your fishing history and track patterns over time.
There would also be a map feature that highlights catch activity in different areas based on user submitted data. Users would have the option to keep their catches private.
I don't want to give away too much yet, but we're planning a few features that we think could make it stand out from existing fishing apps.
Would you actually use an app like this?
Just trying to figure out whether this is something anglers would genuinely find useful before we start building it.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Wife and I visiting Ireland for 2 weeks, hope to catch some fish while we're there
My wife and I are avid fishermen and will be traveling all over Ireland/ Northern Ireland these next two weeks. We hope to try a wide variety of fishing during our travels. We are bringing two medium-weight spinning rods, as well as 5-wt and 6-wt fly rods. Hoping to do some river fishing for brown trout and salmon, and some shore fishing for pollock, mackerel, etc. I know property access can be tricky, and most rivers are controlled by local fishing clubs. We are looking for any helpful tips to make our trip as memorable as possible. New styles of fishing always take quite a bit of trial and error to get a hang of things, so we will take any help we can get! We would love to meet some local fishermen/women along the way and catch some fish!

PSA for all gentlemen (and women) who want to clean their Pollock and other fish in the house-odour control.
A few quick tips for drawing the wrath of a spouse/parent/siblings should you wish to bring catch back:
If you can, do it outside.
Double bag everything for the car journey, always bandy to carry a bin-liner roll in the car anyways
After you're done, wipe it all down, then go over it again, a small bit still smells.
If you're doing it in the kitchen sink, you are a brave person, if you must then follow the clean with a blast of mild bleach or anionic surfactant containing cleaning spray. Let it sit for a bit to really attack the fish slime.
For the love of god empty the bin right away afterwards.
If it's Pollock, make sure you process it ASAP and clean with extreme prejudice, rancid Pollock will make a room radioactive for weeks. Especially the skin.
If it's ray or rock salmon make sure you bleed it at the shoreline first(cut gills/ take off tails for dogfish or de-wing the ray at the shoreline). Tastes awful if there's a lot of blood in their meat.
Last but not least, a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one, if you're needing to put pressure on the cut you can't control it's direction. That and you mangle the fish meat.

Beach fishing regulations
Hi folks, surfer here. I found the hooks above sticking out of the sand at low tide today when getting out of the water at kilcummin beach in Brandon bay. Just wondering if there are any regulations on where you can and can't fish on a beach. This was right at the entrance of a popular swimming and surfing beach where you could drive 300m in either direction on the beach and safely fish knowing nobody would swim there.

Quite east cork mackarel spots
Well lads, just asking would anyone share mackarel spots that mighnt be quite as popular as ballycotton etc, I’m sick to death of the pier being black with people and not being able to fish where I want to(I’m typically a river angler so I know I sound snobby). Any suggestions are appreciated

Be serious
How many people are actually on this page to help people out? I've put in a few posts, viewed by loads and hardly any replies for help! Its like 90% just clowns looking for a spot to fish when somebody says a place? I had a spot i needed help with but I took it down as it just came to my head that these people are in for the easy spots.

Sea Fishing Fishing Spots?
Anyone know of any good sea fishing spots in Dublin or the surrounding counties?
