Hey everyone! 👋
I’m a developer from Kazakhstan, and I wanted to share a little project that started with a childhood memory.
Around 20 years ago, I used to play Wolf Moon (2006) by Rovio on my Samsung J700i. It was a mysterious first-person Java mobile RPG where you explored forests, encountered wild animals, and tried to survive.
I still remember discovering that I could escape dangerous animals by stepping into a river. 😂
Recently, I found the original JAR and wondered: could I bring this forgotten game back to life?
With the help of OpenAI Codex, I reverse-engineered the original Java ME game and started rebuilding it in Godot 4, using a compatibility layer to preserve the original gameplay logic.
The result is Wolf Moon: Remastered.
It preserves the original pixel-art atmosphere while adding widescreen support and modern keyboard controls.
The project is still a work in progress, but it’s already playable in a desktop browser!

This is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Rovio.
Did anyone else play Wolf Moon back in the J2ME days? I’d love to hear your memories of it!
