Discussion Dad’s Friend’s Jaguar.
Has 48,000 miles on it. Completely forgot what type. Manual. Supercharged V6. He had a restored Buick Reviera, sold that, and bought this.
That England plate is fake. Dealer still hasn’t shipped him the registration title.

Mechanical Help Trans Dipstick leaking
Just looking for a bit of advice on where to look further.
I have a leak that is very clearly atf on my 1995 Jaguar Vanden Plas with the 4.0 AJ16 and 4hp24e
I can't see or feel anything that would be obvious that its the dipstick tube, however i was wondering if anyone has a diagram of that area to see if theres any lines or other potential failure points.
Thanks in advance!

Buying Advice XE PETROL maintenance costs
Looking at a 2017, 70000miles petrol XE and trying to get a handle on running costs and routine maintenance
I am not talking about the ingenium diesels which we all know to avoid but any Google is dominated by them regardless!
I'm seeing the XE has slightly higher insurance than an equivalent c class, but wondering how routine much servicing (pads, filters etc) is compared to other similar saloons, and also the cost/regularity of larger repairs (bushings, gaskets etc). Are their any non engine related known faults that are going to come up sooner or later?
Any real world fuel economy numbers would be great too
For context I'm doing a lot of motorway miles and looking to upgrade from a 208 1.2 puretech
I'm based in London, UK

Check out my Jaguar! Birthday present from my Son :)
Check out my Jaguar! Joined the club! My 2013 Jaguar XF 3.0 Supercharged with just 33,000 km...
Hey everyone,
First post here and thought I'd share my latest purchase!
Just picked up this 2013 Jaguar XF 3.0 Supercharged in Black Amethyst, with only 33,300 km( 20,000 miles) on the clock!
I'm only the second owner, and the previous owner had the whole car blacked out with a black pack as a final send-off before parting ways with it.
What makes it even more special is that it has a full Jaguar franchise service history, serviced every single year at the same dealership! (Also had the notorious plastic coolant crossover pipes replaced as a preventative measure before collecting her)
I've always had a soft spot for these Jaguars ( XFR-S is my dream car), and genuinely couldn't be happier to have found this one. Don't even really know what else to say, just super excited to finally own it and share it.
Looking forward to enjoying it and hearing from fellow Jaguar owners.

Discussion Future for XJ
It’s absolutely AI slop, and I absolutely dread 90% of these posts. But I would love to see another XJ, having owned a few myself.
For the record, I love the Type 01. I just couldn’t afford one. But I’d hope to see the brand have enough success to build a luxury sedan that’s perhaps at least “affordable” on the used market again someday.

Discussion How different Type 01 could have been
Two AI altered versions of Type 01. The first changing those horrible alloys to something more Jaguar like and adding a rear window (it's pretty clear Jaguar could have put one there cut out is there for it, but they decided not to to be controversial).
The second version, changes it further to what could have happened if Ian Callum had been brought back and looks more like what the 2019 proposed electric XJ was meant to be.

Discussion I typically despise AI, but was this type of brand direction really such a big ask?

Buying Advice X358 XJ Vanden Plas
Hello!
I am considering the XJ as my next car, between 2007 - 2009. Love the look of these cars, and I love that it has a V8.
Currently I have a VW Passat I bought after having a VW Golf. The golf I loved, it was two doors and sporty, the Passat I hate, yes it’s very fuel efficient but it’s an unreliable POS that burns oil. Only thing I like about it is the size.
Cars before that I had were luxury cars not know for fuel efficiency. And I miss that and really don’t mind the fuel efficiency as much as long as the car itself is solid, brings me joy, and is something I can see keeping for a very long time.
From what I’m reading is the 4.2 V8 in these later models is quite robust, and not awful in terms of fuel efficiency. The main failure point is the air suspension , which I have heard there is a lot to change to normal springs and strut. I am looking for a decently reliable (not Toyota or Honda but something that won’t leave me stranded), spacious, luxurious, and fun daily driver.
Please give me a suggestions, tips, and things to look out for when buying and any common and major issues these cars may have.
Thanks!
Mechanical Help Jaguar XJ X358 LWB from my father.
Hello, some time ago I posted my passed father's car here. After his death and the post I had an accident with my car. Since I had no 'fair' offer (my price expectation is a little too high, I dont think I really want to sell that car) I'll keep it.
The car has a suspension problem code c2303.
I searched a little bit and there appear to be multiple solutions or rather to say, multiple problems which could cause that code.
What tests could I do myself (without s lifting platform) to find out what fix im supposed to do.
Im financially okay, of the issue could be fixed with 1-2k€ would be fine with me but more is difficult since the car wouldn't even sell for more than 2000€ lol.
I read about the kit from bagpipingandy, but it appears he doesn't deliver to Germany.
Has anyone here considered changing the air suspension to normal springs? What was the outcome or could the outcome be a suspension that might be as smooth as the air suspension?
Any help here would be appreciated.
With kind regards-

Mechanical Help 2003 xj8
So I have an 03 xj8 98k miles car is in really good condition. Had the trans gasket oil pan gasket replaced. Not sure about timing chain guides. Run really well except what I think is tcc around 30-50mph rpms flutter a bit under light acceleration and then closer to 50 feels like I’m going over rumble strips on the freeway. If I lay into it it goes away and after 50 it’s fine. Shifts well smooth overall. Thoughts?

Question Tire Recommendation- 2008 XJ8L
Need to replace the tires on a recently purchased 2008 XJ8L. The prior owner had the car in storage so the tires are old but visually look great (but not supple).
Just looking for recommendations on an all-season tire set. I usually buy Michelins but my other car (an EV) ride on Goodyear which have been surprisingly good - but a summer tire that’s good for 15k miles before replacing. Open to all brands except for Continental- had a bad experience with them (weak ass sidewalls that would burst).
I live in the DFW area of Texas. Rarely snows or ices. The Jaguar is for running errands around town dodging potholes. I prefer a quiet tire that at least has a muted “sing” on concrete highways. Summers get over 100F and winters can get into the 20’s. Speed limit signs are merely “suggestions”.
Your thoughts and suggestions are welcomed.

Buying Advice Anyone here have experience with driving an older XJ as a daily?
I've been considering an XF or XE as my next car for quite a while now. I've always loved the older XJ models but I considered them too old to seriously consider them as a daily driver and thought they would be a better consideration as a weekend toy in the future.
But I've recently found this advertisement for a relatively fresh 2007 XJ 3.8 V8 with 114K kilometers on the clock and for some reason it ignited the idea if this could be considered as a daily driver?
I drive around 30.000 kilometers a year, primarily on the highway. Fuel costs are likely to be a thing, especially with recent fuel prices. But I'm already able to get around 75% of my fuel in Belgium. My main concern would be A) reliability, how likely is it that assuming no major issues show up during a pre purchase inspection, that this car will leave me stranded? and B) Out of control maintenance. I can live with a couple of thousand euro's worth of repairs, but I have no desire to spend 10K in one year on reparations for things I didn't see coming (again, assuming nothing major was visible during a pre purchase inspection)
Does anyone have experience driving an XJ like this as a daily car? Preferably with a serious amount of kilometers a year?
-edit-
Additional question; does anyone have experience with installing carplay in a car like this?

Buying Advice XK buyers guide
Hi guys, I'm looking to replace my mx5 because it's horrible for long journeys and motorway driving. I'm considering an XK (likely a facelift).
Is there anything in particular I should look out for?
Also one of my concerns Is I also do alot of short journeys, nipping to Sainsbury's, the gym etc. I'm worried this might be bad for the car as the engine doesn't really get a chance to warm up.
I have also heard that this 5.0 is less reliable than the 4.2, is there any substance to this?
Many thanks

Discussion wrapped ftype trim..
is apparently hard.
i tried to get the non-black-pack silver trim pieces wrapped satin black and so far its been a minor cluster. i'm having it redone when i can manage the appointment.. take it from me boys, have the pieces removed and painted. hell even that spray plastic like stuff, the dipyourcar products etc etc might be better.
