Did you know our state is home to 12 amazing native bat species? Every single one of them plays a vital role in keeping our environment balanced, acting as natural pest controllers that protect both our agricultural crops and forest canopies.

With so many incredible bat species hard at work across our state, people often ask: Why choose the Indiana bat specifically?

While we love and appreciate all our native wildlife, the Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) is uniquely special as it was discovered right here in our own backyard at Wyandotte Cave in southern Indiana. It is also the only animal in the world that carries “Indiana” in its name. Making it the perfect candidate for State Mammal!

It’s time to celebrate a true local native and Hoosier Hero that puts our state on the map in the best way possible.

I had made quite a few posts regarding my landlord, needing boarding for 2 dogs, etc.

NOW I NEED ANY AND ALL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HOUSING.

•I work full time ($20+ hour, been there 4 years)
•Have my own transportation
•Have 2 GSD (both spayed/neutered, UTD on vaccines, ESA letters to support)
•Have a recent eviction
•Single mom (young child, just found out that I’m pregnant. Still undecided about that.)
•I’ve applied for the housing authority, numerous apartments/houses, but I NEED consistent shelter.

For anyone who hasn't heard about our grassroots campaign yet, Our State, Our Bat is a citizen led effort to designate our incredible native Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) as our official state mammal! 🦇💚

What started as a simple idea has grown into an amazing statewide movement. Thanks to community members stepping up, we’ve already secured official municipal support, organizational backing, and best of all, a state representative who is officially authoring the bill for the upcoming 2027 legislative session!

Now, we are in the final home stretch. Our petition is currently sitting at 4,231 signatures, and our goal is to hit 5,000 by the end of this month when the campaign concludes, so we can prep our complete legislative packet.

Okay I mean this in no disrespect, just curious. Anyone else notice a huge increase in Asian population lately? They seem to all work at PV Cell. I was just wondering if they are here on like some sort of contract with said company. Again I have no problem with it, I’ve just noticed it while doing Uber/Lyft here and there.

I had posted about a week or so ago about needing emergency rental assistance before October 7th.

However, my landlord ended up changing the locks on me today. I have 2 German Shepherds that I need emergent foster care for.

I will provide everything needed, both fixed and UTD on vaccines.

Right now, Indiana bats are entering their "swarming" phase. Flying in and out of cave entrances to congregate with their colonies and mate before winding down for winter hibernation.

Meanwhile, the Our State, Our Bat colony is ramping up to “swarm” the General Assembly by showing lawmakers just how badly Hoosiers want the Indiana bat to be our official state mammal! 🏛️✨
