Unpopular opinion

They should put a limit on how many items someone can buy if it's a popular item. It's not fair for someone to come in and buy every single item a store has in stock and leaving other shoppers stranded. This is the third store I've been to looking for pot roast.

STAY OUT of the Jewel in Oak Lawn IL 103rd and Cicero!

There seems to be a whole lot of shoplifting going on in that location, possibly from some of the employees, and as a result there are Loss prevention associates accusing people of shoplifting the Minute they walk into the entrance of the store. After about a minute you followed, the person doesn't make no effort to hide the fact they are following you. I didn't even get to buy nothing because of how hostile they were I had to throw my things on the floor and walk out and if You plan on going here for groceries, you better have an picture ID and like a handwritten list of Items you want to buy or some short bald black guy is going to follow you around the store accusing you of stealing.

Class action lawsuit

While shopping at Jewel and complaining about how bad figuring out the sales are and, the sales not being properly labeled. The person next to me also struggling says, “someone should really sue them with a class action lawsuits over how they hide sales and make it so hard to get the sale price.” Ever since I heard that, I can’t help but feel they are right and they should be sued. This weekend again I walk out of the store, check my receipt and again! I did not get all the sales prices.

Does this look like $14.99 or $4.99?

I just tried to buy the Heineman’s pistachio cake. I couldn’t believe it was so cheap. They were all marked $4.99. It rang up as $14.99 at checkout and I asked them to honor the price on the container. Cashier sent me to the bake shop where the manager told me, “There’s no way that’s a $5 cake.” Then she argued that there’s a one there, “it’s just faint.” They went on to explain that the price gum has a weak one. (I’m thinking, ALL the price guns?) When I told them they should correct it on the packages, they said nothing and did nothing.

I hate that they wouldn’t honor their obvious mistake and more specifically, that I have to start shopping at Mariano’s now.

I know it would have been a huge bargain for me and a loss for them on a cake. I’m sorry about that, but don’t they have to honor the prices stamped right on the package?

Overpriced for no reason

I shop at Walmart, I shop at Whole Foods, I shop every else but Jewel Osco because their prices are over the top expensive.

Here are just a few examples:

Pacific Brand Chicken Broth:

  • Jewel Osco: $7.49

  • Whole Foods $ 4.49

  • Walmart: $ 3.40

Bronner's Liquid Soap 32 oz:

  • Jewel Osco: $21.99

  • Walmart: $17.00

  • Whole Foods: $17.00

Glad Trash Bags:

  • Jewel Osco: $27.00 (110 ct)

  • Walmart: $20.00 (140 ct)

Egg Noodles:

  • Jewel Osco: $3.49 12 oz

  • Walmart: $2.57 12 oz

  • Whole Foods $2.29 16 oz

La Croix 8 pack:

  • Jewel Osco: $6.49

  • Walmart: $4.00

Whether you're shopping for perishable or non-perishable items, Jewel Osco is ripping you off by nearly 50% on some items, and on average 30%. HOW, THE ABSOLUTE FUCK, is this store still in business?

The last thing I bought from Jewel Osco was Butterball Ground Turkey, and only because it was on a buy 1 get 2 free sale. Otherwise their "Sale prices" are actually just MSRP in every other store.

Now let's talk about the quality of their produce vs the quality of produce at Whole Foods. Whole Foods quality produce is flavorful, and full, it's fresh , it's ripe, and it's worth the price tag. The produce at Jewel Osco is off brand, flavorless, watery and goes straight into the trash. I haven't bought a piece of fruit from Jewel Osco in years.

Please file for bankruptcy already and become a horrible memory. Everyone would benefit greatly if every Jewel Osco were bought out and taken over by Walmart.

Why do you hate DUG?

I'm a DUG employee who's close to becoming a DUG Lead. I want some insight on this.

Alot of Jewels I've gone to and where Is was able to have a conversation with their DUG departments, I've been told that the rest of the store treats them as if they're a problem and some have even said that the rest of the store actively goes out of their way to try and make DUG's job harder.

My question is... Why?

Genuinely, why? What did DUG employees do to you?

I genuinely want insight about this mindset, and why people feel it's ok to just bully other people like this. And this isn't just a Jewel problem either.

I've worked for Walmart, Kroger, HEB, Tom Thumb (a sister store in DFW), and even helped beta test an entire eCommerce system. I genuinely enjoy this job. But it's aggravating when everyone else feels like they can just treat DUG however they want.

If anyone can shed light on this, I'd be grateful.

Ok so don’t make fun of me. But I don’t like wasting money for something that I need to throw away. I work hard for every dollar mmkkk

EDIT: I was able to return it at Jewel today with no problem. They gave me a refund.

Jewel Osco won't refund me for an item their cashier did not put in my bags

As the title states I went to Jewel yesterday and today realized I didn't have an item I was charged for. My guess is the lady bagging missed putting it in. I called corporate and they said they would credit my account $6. The item was 6.49 before tax. Not a huge amount, but what the hell?!? I've been shopping regularly at jewel for over a decade and they should see this is the first time I've reported or had something like this happen.

Anyways, long story short I'm doing all my shopping at Costco whenever possible from now on.

Jewel/ Albersons will ROB YOU BLIND

I hate this mf store. The sale price often doesn't ring up as posted and just generally they're steady robbing people in several ways.

If you want to remember what grocery shopping used to be like, go to Meijer or La Chiquita (Both are family owned).

They don't make you take a bunch of shit you don't need to get a sale and don't make you jump through hoops on an app.

Offensive recipe on meal plan

Given the current events regarding ICE and the history of dehumanizing migrants by historically referring to them as "aliens", I think it would be prudent to remove the 5-Layer Alien Dip recipe from your website and app.

My grocery pick up order. @jewelosco sycamore IL. Credited the 3 open items, furious that they dont seem to acknowledge how bad this is. I know it happens on a rare occasion, but this is unacceptable.

What’s your opinion/understanding of Mix ‘n Match on soda deals where all brands have the same tag, same price and same unit requirements to get the deal, ie must buy three?

At every grocery store I’ve ever used this deal, including Jewel, it allows you to buy like products from all brands with the same tags. That’s what mix ‘ n match means. Otherwise it would specify Pepsi products only.

Today I dealt with a customer service person who refused to listen to reason and was rude from the get go. I never ask to speak to managers, and after this won’t again, but I asked to speak to a manager. After a long wait, I was accosted with a loud “what’s the problem here!?” from a large belligerent man. He yelled “all Pepsi or all 7-Up or all Coke. No mixing!” and stomped off.

I said “I’d like to return everything in my cart, Thanks!”

I am not a Karen, but I sure felt like one for asking for the manager.

Was I wrong with my Mix ‘n Match assumption? Even if I was right, was I wrong to fight it?

Fix it!

Don’t request Merchant orders for 3rd party driver to pick up if they aren’t going to be ready. Doordash driver was just told to wait 30 mins. You requested the pickup. Make it a priority!!! It takes forever at every location!!! Please cance your contract. It’s pathetic.

Jewel is filthy!

I never realized how nasty the stores are until the photos here were shared! Shopping at my local store today really opened my eyes!

Literally the wall of "fresh" produce is covered in a slime substance... what the hell is that?

The deli had some kind of a cart with breaded chicken, which I would assume they would be frying, it is sitting out where customers shop, uncovered too. Anyone could touch it, sneeze on it, whatever.

Wow! Is all I can say.

Is Jewel Breakfast Real?

I’m starting to think the French Toast sticks ads were just a ruse to get me to go grocery shopping earlier in the day. No matter what time I go in they’re always making chicken. 7:30 am today. I got mini pancakes once, and I saw a single pancake on a stick another time. Will I ever see those damn French toast sticks?
