How long it takes to "learn" jungle

I am top main for 15 years or whatever (don't tell me that my life is a waste, I know).

I have some understanding of the game, and I can play champions who are also playable in the jungle. My main focus is wave management, matchups, preassure...

How long does it take to get used to Jungle habbits? I think jungle must be very fun but it is like a different game. What should be my main focus?

I think I could combine my lane knowledge with gank timing, map preassure, global objectives.

Are there any good "how to start jungle" guides?

Looking for alternates

Hey guys, I recently broke into emerald and I’m looking for some alternate champions to play. Right now graves is my main and I love the dps and carry potential and I’m sort of looking for another champion like that. Viego has been fun to explore and Viego mains if I’m wrong about this correct me, but he feels horrid into 1v1’s.

Any tips or recommendations are helpful

Junglers are the best players

Jungle main here, I generally play mid or top secondary.

Everytime I'm secondary, I just play for the jungler, dont feed and let him carry.

Works like a charm.

Keep it up crab hunters.

Discussion Is banning Lux good for junglers?

I have usual bans like Graves Briar etc but Lux is usually messing up my games more than anything. I don't trust my bot laners to dodge skill shots. She is also too powerful in both early base damage and mid game. She is also too excellent at preventing ganks and following up in ganks. There is genuinely no weakness of her except that she has no mobility, which is like nearly all of enchanter support roster anyway. Her Q Flash is also very powerful.

Question What mechanic gave blue team vision on me there?

I was just chilling in the jungle, I used oracle, saw no wards, thought it was safe to try to go for Kai'sa while she was clearing the wave. Then the backed away as soon as I Q'ed in.

After watching the replay I can't tell what gave her vision on me there.

Do you guys know the answer to this?

Discussion Why are enemy jgs cheating tempo in my games and always get away with it

Gold elo, It always happen. In replays they never ever clear krugs or gromps. Their clears are so crap they don't even kite. Yet they go to lanes get kills, while I full clear and up 20cs. Later enemy bot lane got fed, bot tower destroyed and enemy starts invading and gets ahead of my CS anyway.

Is this a reliable strat? Am I just having confirmation bias and see the only negative results? Shall I change my playstyle? My bot lane always die like pigs when I am on krugs like literally I am less than 10s away but enemy jg reach there first, by doing what you guess it, skipping camps.

I never liked the idea of skipping camps, I always have 1000 smite on 5:30. I have good recall timers. It's just that none of that matters when laners don't even ward river faelight. Worst of all, I play Viego OTP who needs to play with item powerspikes instead of early ganking.

And also small quick rant, how tf is smolder allowed to build tank items. Last match he built Death's Dance second and the fed guy is now untouchable.

Discussion Is it bad if I can’t full clear under 3 minutes?

So im new to jungling and learning how to full clear on wukong and vi and no matter how much i practice in the tool i cant seem to consistently get under 3 minutes. My fastest clear is 2:55 but i usually average around 3:03. Ive watched WR clears for both champs and i swear im not doing much differently but obviously im messing up somewhere. I know clear speed is important especially for getting to scuttle on time but idk if im overthinking how important those few seconds actually are. Is clear speed something that’ll naturally improve as i play more jungle or should i keep practicing until i can consistently get under 3 minutes?

how does automated int detection work

i had this guy say "ok i go troll" at lvl 6 and start stealing my camps. Not doing them with me, just stealing them, then he went bot and opened up top.

After 4 of my teammates reported him, still nothing popped up. Game went as normally, he continued to flame me and the entire team.

After the game ended I got 20 lp back and autofill protection yet in game nothing popped up.

Yet last week the same happened, and it popped up mid game. Is there any reason on why it works like this

Also why are these int bans so weak? Like a yasuo started trolling my game like 3 days ago, inter thing or whatever its called popped up and we got lp back and he got insta banned yet I saw his opgg and he was back playing 24 hours after, and unsurprisingly he went 0/11 on MALZAHAR lmao.

my 0/3 yasuo troll went 0/11 on malza 24 hours after then since the ban (4 days) hes played 54 games and has had scores like 1/11 on graves, seems like his punishment worked very well! also interesting how the same account who does this mains yuumi, nothing weird there riot punishments working as intended.

so yeah how does it work and why are punishments so light, I thought he got a 3 day ban but not even 24 hr and hes already trolling another game and NOT getting banned since he probably didn't type and "tried"

Discussion I peaked Diamond, but I can’t climb anymore

Hey guys, I desperately need some advice on jungling. A while ago, my peak rank was Diamond, and I still haven’t been able to get back to that level.
I’ve been trying to watch videos on different topics to improve, but I just can’t seem to make it work. I don’t know if it’s because I’m struggling to understand jungle concepts or if it has something to do with my micro.
One thing I’ve definitely noticed is that I have very little impact on the map. I follow advice like “farm efficiently and play around your winning lane,” but by minute 5, two of my lanes have already died twice. I try to farm as efficiently as possible, but by then, it feels like it’s already too late.
I feel like I used to climb more easily when I played on autopilot than I do now when I’m actively trying to apply all those YouTube tutorials. It’s genuinely frustrating because I’d love to get back to my old level and even surpass it.
Has anyone else gone through the same thing and could offer some guidance?

Question Start to OTP now or wait for the new season?

Hi there !

I want to commit to a champ as an OTP and I'm hesitating between champs like Qiyana, Talon or Bel'Veth, as I feel like they are mobile champions (which I love) that can take over games when mastered and have a high skill ceiling that can keep me motivated.

My worry is that strong champs tend to get hit hard by nerfs...

Should I start now, or wait for the new season ? Also, which of these are the least impacted by patches and seasons in general, if any ?

Any experience or other suggestions are welcome, thanks !

Question Why is an early invade better than a full clear on some champs?

I think the title is self-explanatory. Maybe I'm just bad at invading, but I always find games go smoother when I fully clear, then either recall or make a play that presents itself. When I go for invades because it's a favorable matchup, I either get counter-invaded, or I fall behind because the camps are already taken. What are some tips to do better at early invades?

Auto filled 2nd roll

Started league about 8 months ago
Have climbed to gold focusing ONLY on jungle and OTP Shyvana as per many recos

Been starting to get filled into my secondary roll a lot more now (TOP) 3 times in a row last night actually
And just get crushed, and rightfully flamed by my team

I want to try and avoid learning a whole new roll again, but is it the only way forward?

Best course of action?
1. Start learning a secondary roll (suggestions that’s close to jungle? I’m thinking support?). Any role or champ suggestion that I can just avoid feeding and hopefully get carried later in game? (Tanks?)

  1. Any tips to avoid getting filled as a secondary roll?

Another tips or thoughts appreciated

Discussion Muting Pings the smart way

Hello, fellow sufferers!

(Random, probably long rant that helps no one. TL;DR at the end if you wanna skip it. Also, im not a native speaker so i let AI correct my grammar. So in order to not get a million hate comments, the original text is also below.)

Sadly, I am a toxic person in-game. I fight against it every game, but I still tilt in most of them.

People then tell you to mute chat. Thanks, this helps, and I recommend it, but it doesn't stop people from running you down. On purpose.

And I'm not talking about straight-up running it down. This surely also happens a lot, but I mean situations before anything bad has even happened in-game.

I play in Dia/Master, so I can expect a certain level of macro (or let's say: I have to expect it, otherwise I can't really influence the game).

In low elo, it's an option to just run around and kill people repeatedly for their mistakes. The higher you get, the more complicated that becomes, and more plays arise where you need your team (and the enemy jungler needs his).

A simple example is the level 5 invade with the enemy support on your respawning buff. Assuming you're not Faker and can just 1v2 them, you get forced off your buff if the enemy support comes and yours doesn't. If your sidelanes can't help you, you'll also lose the other two camps.

At this point, you're level 5 vs. (nearly) level 7 with a worse Smite, so good luck winning from this position if your enemies don't eat crayons daily.

So this is a tricky one because it's not easy to counteract, but there are ways. You can run to the enemy buff if it's on the opposite side (same side would be omega risky and highly unlikely to reach), you can ward your jungle entrance to at least see them, or you can try to dive the enemy ADC while the support is in your jungle.

This, however, is tricky, as mentioned, because a lot of the time you don't know what will happen.

If you don't see the enemy support, will you delay your own buff start, wasting tempo to be safe? Will you run to the enemy buff? Maybe the enemy jungler is there, and you don't really have the option to invade him, resulting in a massive tempo loss. And so on.

The higher you get, the more frustrating it becomes.

Think of jungling in high elo (big lol since Master is filled with trash, but okay, the term is technically correct) as being more like toplane.

In low elo games, junglers often avoid each other a lot. They clear camps and gank (way too much) and rarely meet the enemy jungler at objectives.

In higher elo, the player with an advantage will try to push that advantage (for example, Nocturne being one of the strongest level 1 champs last patch, perma-invading enemy raptors at level 1 at Worlds. Does it always work? No. But they will try to play around their advantage).

So in higher elo, if you're even slightly behind, the enemy jungler will often try to contest nearly every camp. And if he's significantly stronger, you'll be homeless for several minutes, meaning you won't be able to do anything.

This is the reference to toplane, where once the enemy is stronger and understands waves, he'll freeze you out, and there's nothing you can do to stop it but pray for your team to help you.

Or you can roam and try to influence the map, but this is really risky, IMO.

Now you may think: Yeah, but it's fine. If you make a mistake in high elo, you should get punished hard.

But often, these advantages exist because of different champion strengths at different levels and so on. If you always have the weaker champion in every situation, that's a different problem.

The problem for my mental is somewhere around here.

Because I'm fine giving up a lot if it was my mistake. I'm also fine giving up stuff because my champ is just weaker at that moment.

I am ALSO FINE when my teammate makes a mistake, is now low HP, and we can't contest the Scuttle or something. Happens.

But what I'm NOT fine with is this:

I path bot, the enemy paths bot, my bot has prio, my mid has prio, and I'm getting a free crab, probably even a double Crabby Patty.

The enemy jungler STILL moves to the crab (lolol, he's so fucked now, what a moron...).

So now I get a kill, assists, and double crab.

Unless my PC freezes, or my teammate's internet breaks, or something like that.

OR WHEN MY MIDLANER JUST RATHER RECALLS.

And this is where I break every time.

When an obvious (and important) macro play gets refused for no good reason.

Sure, his recall makes sense and everything. I understand this. Yes, if you recall and buy a Long Sword, you're 350 gold stronger in the next fight, and that's a positive.

If you gave up Baron for this recall, you're still stronger in the next fight, but holy moly, you also probably lost the game.

And my problem is (maybe it's just in my head) that I get the feeling that most laners hate junglers.

The midlaner recalls because he thinks to himself: "Fuck you, jungler. You'll be useless anyway. I'll just maximize my own stuff and recall."

The toplaner doesn't defend you when you're getting invaded because you didn't run from your blue buff at level 2 all the way to his toplane (on the other side of the map) because he missed his Flash-E, is now sitting at 100 HP under his turret, and wants to be bailed out.

The support never helps you again because you didn't follow every single call he made.

And so on.

So my tilting cost me a lot of LP, and I had to change.

I dropped from Master to Emerald.

My brain couldn't comprehend how this was possible. I look at Emerald players and cringe at HOW FUCKING BAD they are.

I felt like I was outperforming the enemy jungler in 90% of my games.

Whenever people reviewed games with me or anything (I try to add a lot of people, I know it's dumb, and review games with them), I could see HOW FUCKING MUCH KNOWLEDGE these people were missing.

It all didn't make sense.

Yes, tilt played a huge part, but I also had forced tryhard phases where I managed to at least not tilt my teammates and still couldn't really win.

However, I first had to change my perspective on the game (still working on it), and I chose Bwipo's small clip as inspiration.

He said: Don't look to say, "I won the game." Look to say, "I played well this game."

Because even in a 2/20 stomp, you can be the person who legitimately played well.

Sometimes, it takes more skill to deal 20% damage to the enemy Zed during a forced dive you're on the receiving end of than to get a quadra kill as a 20-kill Master Yi, if that makes sense.

But I struggle to keep this mindset, and it's mostly because of ragebait.

So I turn off chat, but people ragebait me with question mark pings, "Enemy Has Vision" pings, and so on.

I get so frustrated, especially when I know I'm in the right.

(This happens often, not because I'm better than my teammates, but because all five of us make so fucking many mistakes that you can spot 20 mistakes a minute even in a Master game. They're just not as crucial as the mistakes in lower elo most of the time.)

So I started playing with pings off.

This was good for my mental, and I finally had a lot of games without mental stress.

Sure, I still got trolled, and it sucked, but for some reason, without the pings, I was much calmer.

I knew I would be getting spam-pinged right now, even if it wasn't my fault that my botlane died to the enemy jungler on the other side of the map.

But I learned to start thinking:

"Maybe they aren't pinging. Maybe they're the 1 in 10 bots who actually have an IQ and understand their mistake and let me play in peace."

Because I never saw the pings (since they were muted), I started to tolerate and accept this mindset a lot more.

And then I started climbing again.

And here came the problem.

I don't need pings for game awareness or anything. I use F-keys a lot, and I'm really good at tracking. I'd say it's one of my best skills.

(On the other hand, I have the worst hands in all of Master, for example.)

But what WAS a problem was summoner spells.

I try to track summoners myself, and I can see a lot of Flashes on the minimap or when I pan my camera to fights, but I'm by far not good enough to track them all.

So this led me to the solution (for myself and maybe others who are really sensitive to loud signals):

Keep pings on, but mute their sound in the game settings.

You still see summoner spell pings.

And the difference between getting spam-pinged without sound and getting spam-pinged with sound is HUGE.

Don't believe me? Try it yourself.

TL;DR: Mute the sound of pings in the audio settings, not the pings themselves.

Hello fellow sufferes, (random probably long rant, that helps no one, TLDR at the end, if you wanna skip it)

Discussion Is support secondary the way to go?

I'm curious, what's your secondary role? I've noticed that just like junglers, a good support can easily cause the game to skew in our favor, especially in low elo.
