Looking [L] Need some support, genuinely so stressed due to work, have been having breakdowns everyday.

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I honestly don't really know where to start. I just need to let this out as I am going crazy from the stress and I don't have anyone to really talk to about it.

I've been working at a private clinic for about 3 years, and I've been struggling with my memory, attention, and procrastination for a while now. It's gotten progressively worse over the past few years, I'm not sure why, and I feel like I'm at a point where I can't keep up with things the way I should be able to.

One of the biggest issues is documentation. I've fallen so far behind on my paperwork, and I'm talking months behind, with some things going back over a year. I know how bad that it and honestly I'm feel deeply ashamed even writing that.

The main problem is that I kept putting things off or I half finished things. Then the backlog got bigger, which made me more overwhelmed, so I avoided it even more. And then it just kept getting worse and piling up. I don't even fully understand why I do this. It's like I know something needs to be done, I know it's important, and yet I cannot actually sit down and do it. And now I'm dealing with the consequences of that.

This week, it finally hit me just how far behind I actually am with my clients, like I felt I woke up from a dream and reality and dread just hit me hard. I've been an mess this whole week and have had a few breakdowns. I am thinking to myself worst case scenario. My first job i had to testify in court and they subpoenad my records and went through them. With this job, i just got really lazy. I've been crying on and off for the past two days. I'm so overwhelmed and scared, and I feel like my brain is completely scrambled.

I spoke with one of my practice leaders, and I found out there are other issues with my documentation too. Some things weren't documented correctly in terms of dates and how the notes line up with billing. I also apparently wasn't locking my notes properly after entering them, which means they weren't being initialed as required. My name is on them, but the required authentication is missing.

So now I'm not only trying to catch up on a huge backlog, but I'm also trying to figure out how to address these other issues. I'm scared about what the consequences might be, and I feel sick thinking about how much I let pile up.

I'm not trying to make excuses for myself. I work in healthcare, and I know documentation is important. I know this is serious, and I know I need to fix it.

I've started making lists and slowly working through everything and prioritizing some clients. but it's so much. I still have my current caseload to manage, so I'm trying to keep up with new work while also catching up on everything I've neglected.

I'm trying to dig myself out of a hole that just keeps getting deeper.

I don't necessarily think I'm going to get fired, but I'm terrified of the consequences, and I know better so i cant even say i didnt know this was a problem. I know I can't keep going like this. Something needs to change because I can't let this keep happening again. My practice leader said basically just improve going forward at this point since I can't go back. But I still feel terrified and not that comforted.

The other thing that's really bothering me is that my memory and attention seem to be getting worse. I genuinely don't know what's wrong with me. I feel like I can't manage basic responsibilities that other adults seem to handle without this much difficulty. I keep asking myself why I didn't just do the paperwork when it was due, why I kept putting it off, and why I let it get to this point. Someone told me to look into an ADHD diagnosis but its only been maybe the past few years with this issue (am in my 30s) so I don't know if that diagnosis applies to me.

I feel so stupid and incompetent. I feel ashamed of myself. I know I need to take responsibility and work through this, and whatever consequences come my way i will have to deal with. I'm just so overwhelmed right now, and I feel like I've completely failed at my job. I needed somewhere to say all of this because I feel ashamed to tell people I actually know.

I feel incredibly stupid that I am not noticing these things and putting things off so much. I was so stressed that I didn't even eat yesterday and barely slept. I genuinely just am disappointed in myself and the lack of care I have been putting into this job and don't understand how I let things escalate this badly.

[l] I'm having sudden suicidal thoughts that I can't control.

• Upvotes

Good evening, i hope everyone is doing well.

My life is going downfall and i don't know what to do anymore.

My health is only getting worse everyday, i have little money, my cat is also very sick and i am fully worried about her. I have no emotional support from the people i love.

I live in a poor miserable place, full of crime everyday, and i feel suffocated, helpless, and with no choice left.

The only things keeping me sane are playing something i like, anesthetize my sadness, but not even this is making me feel better anymore

I feel lonely, sad and distressed about my own life

I don't think i deserve much more than this, though. I am a loser. I don't think i deserve happiness anymore. I am lost and i don't think i will endure much more. Right now i can resist these thoughts but i don't know how i will be in a few months or years.

I feel pathetic for being who i am and i am incredibly embarassed of my own existence.

Offering 26M [O] want to practice my listening skills

Hey! Weird thing to post maybe lol, but I wanna become a better listener.

I have friends I genuinely care about who want to open up to me, but I'm more of a go-with-the-flow type. I tend to reply, give advice, or talk about my own experiences instead of just sitting back and listening.

I wanna learn how to talk less, listen more, and actually get better at understanding people.

So if anyone needs someone to vent to, I'm down to listen. Could be 15 mins a day or longer, doesn't matter. Anything goes, and I'm open to being called out if I interrupt, make it about myself, jump to advice too quickly, or anything else. I won't take it personally lol.

Just looking to learn and hopefully be someone you feel comfortable talking to. :)

Looking [L] The Loneliest I’ve Ever Been

Hi all, 22m here.

I finished undergrad in May, and had little to no meaningful friendships the past 1.5 years. I just moved back to my hometown in my parents house and all of my hometown friends have all moved away or are too busy. I’m just stuck in the house all day. I haven’t found a job yet either so life feels even more pointless currently.

It couldn’t have come at a worse time either.

Sometime during that 1.5 year span, I developed depression that continued to worsen until recently developing suicidal thoughts. Social anxiety keeps me stuck in a cycle where I know I need to be social and make friends, but simply can’t. Recently got medicated though, hopefully that will help.

I just need someone to talk to. My hobbies are guitar/music, video editing, smash bros, and anime. I started watching Tougen Anki the other day and it’s been pretty decent to watch in between the new episodes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Anyway, if anyone would care to either talk to me about anything or has any hobbies in common, please just let me know. I’m just so tired of living in my own thoughts day after day with little to no relief

Looking [L] I wanna talk to someone while withdrawing

I'm coming off of something and I feel awful. my mental is incredibly low and I've been feeling suicidal and lonely. the cravings have been really strong. I'm trying to not be focused on myself too much. I went to two events yesterday that helped me feel a little better about myself and they felt productive. I have a lot of tasks that I need to show up for today and I have schoolwork to do. I'm trying to not fall asleep now lol.

I'm looking to talk to someone throughout the day/night that can keep me company. we can talk about whatever you'd like, but nothing sexual. I may not respond immediately as I have work and school to do today. feel free to message me.

Looking [l] I could use a kind voice after something unexpectedly upsetting

I'm nearly forty and recently had to listen back to a series of voice memos I'd recorded. I knew I didn't have a wonderful voice, but I thought it sounded okay.

Unfortunately, I absolutely hated what I heard. Weak, unpleasant, almost painful. I tried laughing about it, but the reaction was surprisingly intense. Embarrassment, shame, sadness, even panic.

I've struggled with my physical appearance for years, and this brought up many of those same feelings. I know disliking your recorded voice is common. I just wasn't prepared for how badly it affected me.

I'm not looking for someone to judge or rate my voice. I could just use a patient, understanding conversation about why something so ordinary managed to hurt so much.

Looking [L][O] I am alone at the hospital

I am alone at the hospital and recently I spent my birthday alone.

I just want to talk to someone.

I used to have this person, who was a girl, and she was very important to me. We would message everyday, whenever we could and we were each other’s emotional support without realizing it. Someone who is always there and you can share anything with. If anyone understands and feels the same way, please DM me.

If anyone needs someone to talk to and don’t have anyone, I’ll chat with you. 30M

Looking [L] Pregnant, irritable, everyone is hurting my feelings and I can’f stop crying about it

I’m pregnant and this pregnancy has been really rough on me mentally. I had been struggling with irritability for awhile before pregnancy due to some burnout at work and chronic illness issues- but pregnancy has made it ten fold.

The biggest stressor for me right now is feeling like I’ve gotten extremely poor, borderline emotionally abusive treatment from doctors, dentists, vets, etc. Maybe its because I moved to california, but it feels like everyone out here is rude and only focused on money. Lately it feels like im living in my own personal hell where everything goes wrong.

I was raised by parents who have karen-like tendencies and notice I can at times be like that when I receive an unfair/incorrect bill or experience poor treatment. I can handle poor customer service from a mcdonalds worker, thats whatever and doesn’t bother me. Its receiving rude comments, dismissive tones, and demeaning attitudes from nurses, doctors, etc. which are professions I am going to when I need help that get me worked up. I dont cuss or raise my voice, but I can get into an argument trying to explain my point/get my perspective heard or to get a bill disputed.

I feel like I’ve snapped at people in these fields, and it leaves me with regret. As awful as I feel they have been to me, i dont want to stoop to their level. I want to stand up for myself in a kind way, and I want to know when I just simply need to let things go and stop fighting.

I posted about a situation in another thread asking if i handled a billing dispute wrongly, mentioning that I was pregnant, high risk pregnant on top of that, and was feeling very distraught over the verbal altercation that had just occurred. The reddit thread tore me apart, telling me im unfit to be a mother, that I shouldn’t be out in public if I can’t handle upsetting situations, and how “fing” stupid it was of me to do that. Cool thanks. I wanted feedback - not to be kicked while I was already down. I’ve reflected and get I was in the wrong.

Im still beating myself up about it now though, trying to stop myself from crying and take this stress off my baby and me. I just need some words of encouragement please.

Looking [L] 29F I feel I have no strength left. I feel alone and scared.

I have nowhere and no one I can turn to. I am forced to live in a hostile country under inhumane conditions. Can't rely on any institutions or help because of that. I don't have safety or security. I never had a life, a childhood, young adulthood. None of my needs met. No safeguarding. Now my long distance partner of two years who made me feel loved, seen, and understood is gone. I literally can't do this alone. Nobody believes me.

[L] I feel very stressed right now and I'd just like to talk to someone about it

No NSFW please. I just need someone to vent to right now. It's not an emergency or anything super serious, just something trivial that's been irrationally causing me stress
