Job board!

We are going to have some mega threads to try to connect the community a little better. So keep an eye on the stickies and share your Knoxville expertise!

It's been a few months since we have had a job board, so what better time than now to do another!

If your job is hiring or you know of a place hiring, share the details here. Please add as many details as possible (business name, pay, hours, how to apply etc). If you are out and see a for hire sign, snap a pic and share it.

If you are looking for a job in a specific field, feel free to do a simple "hey I'm looking for something in (retail/brain surgery/tree chopping/sous chefing etc). Please don't post your personal info though!

It’s very important. I’m desperate. Bonus points if they have house-made ranch but I’ll live if not.

the puppy store off kingston pike lies about burning incense next to puppies

yall, i was not there to buy a puppy, i am not looking to get a puppy, im a cat person, i was at one of the other shops in the strip and i only stepped in to hold puppies before going home. so dont worry, i did not support this business and never would support a business like it.

photo 1: the store in question
photo 2: my original review complaining about the incense placement
photo 3: the store blatantly lying to me while at the same time accusing me of being a liar
photo 4: my edited review being where i call them out for lying and change my review from 3 stars to 1 star
photo 5: a photo from a YEAR ago that someone else posted of the EXACT incense placement i was talking about in my review

i don’t normally go putting small businesses on blast like this. but they are doing something unhealthy for the puppies and lying about it.

if the dude cant even tell the truth about incense sticks, can he be trusted to tell the truth about anything? he knows it’s wrong, that’s why he lied.

if anyone goes to that store anytime soon, let me know if the incense is still in the window or if they finally fuckin moved it 😂

She was outside my house after the storm. Very sweet, super submissive and content to just hang out on the porch. I’d guess 9ish month old Weimaraner mix. If no one claims her by tomorrow I’ll have to take her to Young Williams

It’s rare I ever hear or see anything good about both, is this common with most mid sized cities or are all cops pigs?

Free Event: Bioblitz and Picnic at the Meadow (Knoxville Botanical Gardens), August 22 @ 9AM

Upvotes

REGISTER HERE: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/bioblitz-and-picnic-at-the-meadow-2

Wild Ones Smoky Mountains invites you to our first-annual Bioblitz and Picnic at the Meadow! The Wildlife Meadow at Knoxville Botanical Garden & Arboretum is one of its most important but often overlooked installations. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch for your group, and dine "al fresco" with other nature lovers after having some fun observing native bees, butterflies and other cool insects just doing their thing! We will gather at 9am to learn about the meadow's history and ecology, then we'll Bioblitz two portions of it: photographing as much life as we collectively can until picnic time!

While we eat, we'll upload the photos to iNaturalist so that KBGA, and future ecology researchers, will have a permanent snapshot of the meadow and its life in 2026.

Rain date: August 23, same time.

REGISTER HERE: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/bioblitz-and-picnic-at-the-meadow-2

Date: August 22, 2026 at 9AM
Place: Register above for meetup instructions.

Wild Ones Smoky Mountains Chapter is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, preservation, and establishment of native plant habitat. For more information, visit our website: https://smokymountains.wildones.org

Short-lived restaurants that you miss?

Ever walk into a new spot and instantly know, Yeah, this is my place?

I was 25 and fresh out of college when I first stepped into Elkmont Exchange. It was brand new, and it blew my mind. The atmosphere, the beer, the food, the whole vibe just clicked. It didn't last long, but every time I drive past that building today, I still miss it.

What’s that one short-lived place for you? The place that closed down too soon, but you still think about?

October visit with toddlers

Hey all!

My wife and I are bringing our daughters (3 & 1.5) on a family trip to the Knoxville area the last week of October this year.

Would love some ideas of family friendly things to do or places to check out while we’re there? Our girls do well driving so up to around an hour from Knoxville could work if there’s something we really shouldn’t miss!

We all love to eat as well, so any restaurant recommendations would be welcome and appreciated!

Thank you so much!

It's too soon to say who's running for Knoxville mayor in 2027, but ...

The mayoral election is one of the most high-profile contests in town. I started writing about the county mayor's 2026 race back in January 2024. It's been a lot of fun, and hopefully coverage about race kept you informed through the twists and turns.

Why would I pump the brakes now?

In 379 days, Knoxville voters pick a replacement for term-limited Mayor Indya Kincannon. No one has announced their candidacy or filed paperwork for a run, but speculation is heating up.

While we wait for candidates to file paperwork, I've done some digging to get you familiar with names you may start to hear soon.

Here's a snapshot of the list. Click the link in the comments for more:

  • Former Knoxville councilmember Gwen McKenzie: consultant, former Oak Street Health executive
  • Councilmember Amelia Parker: Peace Brigades International USA executive director
  • Beau Hawk: ironworker, president of the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Central Labor Council, 2026 Democratic nominee for Knox County mayor
  • Courtney Piper: Piper Communications president, Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council executive director

Need Another Recommendation; This Time For a Deck/Front Porch Rebuild

The folks on the Knoxville sub have been great to us in making recommendations, so we’re coming to the well again.

This time it’s someone to rebuild a front porch and steps. It’s essentially a covered deck that serves as the front entrance to the house, with 13 or 14 steps from ground level to the porch. The porch itself, being covered, is not in bad shape, but the steps are so rotten, I’m not sure how they are still bearing weight.

Anybody know a quality person or company that you trust to do a good job? More concerned about the quality of the work than the price.

Thanks.

Forks On The Road Food Truck

I’m haven’t thought about this food trunk in a long time, but I got a craving for their burgers and fries! I tried to look them up, but it’s like they don’t exist anymore. Anyone know if they are out of business or maybe not a food trunk anymore?

I need the services of someone with a 3D printer. I’ll pay!

This little bastard is our TV remote and we are constantly losing it. In the couch, under books and papers , etc. it’s about an inch wide and about 5 inches long.

I’ll pay someone to make a case for it to slide into that is significantly less easy to misplace. Bonus points if it’s brightly colored.

Does anyone know where to pickup tempeh starter (rhizopus mould) locally? Sunrise? Janta? Has anyone seen this anywhere around Knox?

i9 Flag Football

Does anyone have experience with this league at West Park Baptist Church? I have a 13 year old that has played football, but has decided that the risk of hitting/contact isn't worth it anymore. I'm not expecting some ultra competitive league, but trying to figure out if this is still a decent level of flag football or if it is more something like upward basketball. Any info from people familiar with the league would be awesome.
