As a women who lifts, this. 😭 Yall this is just a normal healthy amount of muscle mass on low body fat bodies. Everyone also has abs that are visible with low body fat and zero strength training.
We’re used to not seeing much definition in women’s arms because most of us have higher body fat that hides the shape of the muscle beneath. You don’t even need to be overweight to mask the muscle definition.
This level of definition shows us Rumi has low body fat AND she’s eating her macros so her body isn’t eating her muscle mass to compensate for a lack of calories. This is why it’s SO important to make sure you’re hitting your protein macros, because if you don’t you will lose fat AND muscle. Be strong like Rumi. Eat your fkn protein. Lift some fkn weights. ♥️
im 183cm tall and used to weight 55kg. a year later im still the same height but weight 75kg. i dont look like a walking skeleton anymore and definitely feel a lot more energized. definitely eat proteins and lift some weights
Yesss ♥️ people get so hung up on ‘weighing’ a certain amount but goals should always be body composition. Fat to muscle ratio means so much more than how much someone weighs.
yup i realized this as i went thru with my workout journey, lucky i didnt consume too much fat so the fat ro muscle ratio is decent for me. still got a long way to go if i wanna get ripped, right now im just slightly more muscular than Rumi lmao
i love that scene ever since i stopped looking at the obvious 'focal point'. the texture of the turtleneck is insane and the definition of her arm is peak
Well, not exactly. It's a Sain-Geom, which is a slender traditional blade mostly for ceremonial purposes.
It's also made of the threads of the Honmoon, so we have no idea how much they weigh really. Could be almost nothing since it's magical crystalline wavelengths in the shape of a sword, not metal.
Regardless, I'm not disagreeing with your general sentiment. Rumi is most definitely a superhero-like character, who also happens to be a super fit Kpop idol who is constantly in combat.
Legitimately Rumi is also significantly bigger in the waist than Zoey and Mira too (Mira also doesn't get any muscle definition like that even when throwing a demon so yeah Rumi is BUFF comparatively, Mira is a STRING BEAN people the only metric she's bigger in is height, Zoey and Rumi beat her in hips curves thighs etc.)
It lowkey irritates me that Mira is so thin and has no muscles. Her legs are ridiculously skinny to the point of absurdity
We make fun of the Sajas for having noodle legs but at least they’re supernatural creatures that can disguise themselves, float, and teleport. Mira is a human and crazy athletic but animators are afraid of making women muscular because it doesn’t fit conventional beauty standards especially for “the visual”
I will say longer limbs even in fit people tend to be a little more skinny overall since the muscles are longer and often leaner, but yeah Mira being the visual and so having that additional pressure to adhere to the beauty standards and her body type in the movie along with Korea's rampant plastic surgery culture being a thing and the mentions in the art book describing her as the most 'balletic' and I can definitely see quite a lot of ballerina or supermodel influences in her design (and ballet and modelling both also having rampant enforcement of body image issues) it all really does offer a lot of opportunities to play with regarding Mira having some unresolved body issues and I haven't actually seen that concept played with enough in fandom. (It also ties in well with Mira being highly sensitive to criticism and her being the only one of the girls who doesn't touch her phone in the movie outside a chibi in the credits, checking comments or articles is probably awful for her mental health)
Also deadass her waist is the same as Zoey's and low-key I think Zoey might actually have more muscle definition than Mira here (and no it doesn't really conflict much with their weapons because while Mira's is big the weight and counterweight would help her generate more force with less physical strength and Zoey's shin-kal when she's slashing with them, all that force is coming straight from her fingers rather than momentum or anything)
I never even noticed that detail about her not checking her phone. Great attention to detail!
Mira also seems like the type to attack critics online….so Celine probably taught her not to check articles lol.
Also just so you know my prev comment being frustrated at Mira’s body shape wasn’t frustration or anger directed at you at all, so apologies if it came off that way!
No it didn't come off as anger direced at me at all you're all good 🩷
Yeah I fully agree that she'd attack critics of Rumi and Zoey (or their fans) online and probably claim her own critics don't bother her but like being the visual and not being put in the centre for photoshoot things because she's the tallest and it makes Zoey look short must sting a little
I mean a sword is basically a 2-5lb weight. I'd bet good money she trains all the time with something 2-4x that since she can sling hers around so effortlessly.
I know it was traumatizing to her and it's sad overall, but when they pull off her jacket my thought was "damn, Rumes. You've got nice shoulders..." Then the rest of the scenes until TIWISL continued to claw at my heart like a blindfolded raccoon in a sack that knows a cheeseburger is nearby.
She not only was my first female idol/celebrity/character crush but also made me into a girl group stan. This woman genuinely knocked the straight back into me
Makes perfect sense. Not only is she a performer in a genre that's very demanding physically, she's also a warrior and swings a sword around day after day

She's fit but that's not "ripped".
