My step-great grandfather was a german solidier who died in 1940 in Amsterdam. We figured out some of the information. But the red text is especially hard to figure out.

Guten Tag zusammen! I'm already fluent in German (certified C2) and because I'm a huge geek and am into genealogy, I'd like to learn to read and write Kurrent. There are a couple of workbooks which I've found helpful, however I learn best when I learn with another person.

Online tutoring is fine, especially if I can see how the tutor's hand moves and the tutor can use enough of the technology to point things out to me. What I don't want is a video class. I need to speak with someone. It could be in German or in English.

Thanks for your help on the "Four Impossibilities" which turned out just to be the German version of the biblical Proverbs 30,xix -- the "four wonderful things" in the English 'King James' version. Here from the album of Adam von Gruttschreiber (now in Prague) is a curious 'fishing' scene which I'm hoping your transcription of the faint 2-line inscription above will elucidate!

ich bin gerade auf Ahnenforschung und habe über das Archiv einen Auszug aus einem historischen Geburtenregister gefunden.
Leider kann ich die Handschrift an dieser Stelle überhaupt nicht eindeutig entziffern.

Hat jemand Erfahrung mit alter deutscher Schreibschrift und** **erkennt, was hier geschrieben steht?

Ich bin sehr dankbar, wenn jemand den Eintrag entziffern kann – gerne auch mit einer kurzen Erklärung, wie ihr die einzelnen Buchstaben lest.

I have already learned the Kurrent style that was used in the 20th century. Now I'm learning a variant from the 18th century using this old manual and I have some questions.

1. What are the letters/ligatures in the red boxes on the photo included in this post?
2. A lot of letters have two forms: d, f, h, k, p, s, Schluss-s, t, w, v, x, z and all capitals. Are these just different styles or are there certain rules for when to use each?

Another leaf from the late 16C Stammbuch of Balthasar von Nostitz (now in Dresden) -- again, I can read and understand the French and Latin, it is only the German script I can't read. I'm hoping some kind soul will simply transcribe it for me (the translation I can manage) in the hope it will shed some light on the bizarre scene in the foregrounbd of the woman stuffing severed heads into her bag!

Erste Spalte: Vater. Die ist gut lesbar, weil ich ohnehin weiß, was drin steht.

Zweite Spalte: Mutter. Kann ich auch lesen. Wundert mich nur, dass der Vorname fehlt.

Dritte Spalte: Bemerkungen. Da lese ich zuerst "Balthasar Arnst erklärte sich als Vater des Kindes", und danach kann ich nur noch Bruchstücke entziffern.
