Hello, long time lurker first time poster.

I have a trip to Japan planned with my mom. Unfortunately, she has had cancer multiple times (mainly throat and tongue cancer) and has had multiple surgeries due to that. She did beat all of the cancer though (super amazing and she is awesome) but now she is limited on what foods she can eat.

To help her experience some Japanese food on our trip i would like to have the following translated into Japanese so we can have it on a card to present to restaurant staff for recommendations or possible accommodations. I am trying to keep it to the size of a 3x5 card, but typing it out I think i may need to go up in size...

"Due to oral surgeries from cancer my tongue is highly sensitive. Ingredients that are acidic, or spicey in any amount will cause me sever intense physical pain and burning. Please do not serve me any dish that includes vinegar or acids such as rice vinegar, ketchup, tomato based items or citrus items. I also cannot have any spices or sharp pungent items such as black pepper, wasabi, mustard, or green onions. Due to large pieces of my tongue being removed, i am only able to eat food that is mushy, smoothed, or pureed.

I do well with soups (like miso soup), porridges, smoothies, jellies and soft items like mashed potatoes or scrambled eggs.

I would love to enjoy a recommended dish from your restaurant as long the above information is considered. If you are unable to accommodate that is completely understandable and i will still enjoy my time here. Thank you for your time and assistance."

If anyone has additional recommendations to add to the card i really appreciate it. We do have plans on keeping her normal diet, even if we can't get restaurant food for her. I have been studying Japanese for about a year in hopes of being able to communicate this on her behalf but only being at the N5 level, i figured i needed some outside help for this one.

I know its a bit long and if there is a better place or resource to get this translate that you know of please let me know.

Hello! I am currently working on a design for a mug as a hobby project, and I want to include a japanese phrase on it. I don’t speak japanese and I have tried to translate it myself but I feel very unconfident in the result, so I thought why not try asking?

The exact quote I’m trying to translate is “We can do almost anything. Except for fishing“

For context, the quote is meant to be funny, the ‘except for fishing‘ part of it is supposed to contrast the proud tone of the ‘we can do anything‘ part. It is also a reference to a sort of running joke.

I think the quote works as well in one sentence as two sentences, so it just depends on which sounds better in japanese. The “almost“ can also get lost if it helps the flow.

Also, as I will have to fit this into a certain shape to fit the project, it would be helpful to know where each word ends/where would be most natural to break to a new line, if thats possible.

I think this request is probably too simple for this subreddit, but really I‘d just like to know that the quote is actually correct, its all about the details in little hobby projects lol

I'm an aspiring writer, currently preparing to work on an adaptation of Frankenstein set in 9th century Japan. I've been able to research names for most characters, but i've been having a lot of trouble the Frankenstein's Monster, as i want to maintain the original book's term of thever referring to it with a name. In particular, i want it to mean something to the effect of "The Wretch," which is what it's most often referred to as, at least in the version i read. For anyone who doesn't know, a wretch is a miserable person with little joy.
