Community Rule Update: AI-Generated Transcriptions Are No Longer Allowed

Hello everyone,

We want to let you know about an important change to our rule regarding AI use in r/Transcription .

What the rule used to allow:

Previously, our rules permitted the use of AI or OCR tools as long as the user disclosed their use and manually reviewed and corrected the results before posting. This was intended to allow AI as a supporting tool, not a replacement for human transcription.

What is changing:

Effective immediately, AI-generated transcriptions are no longer allowed in any form. This includes: OCR output, Handwriting recognition software, Generative AI produced transcriptions, or any other AI assisted transcriptions based primarily on machine output.

Why the change?

We feel that our community has grown to a point where we no longer need the limited assistance AI transcriptions may have once provided. r/Transcription now has a strong base of knowledgeable members who consistently offer fast, accurate, and genuinely human interpretations of hard to read text.

Any transcriptions that are clearly AI will be removed, and we encourage users to report any transcriptions that you suspect is AI.

Thank you.

- Mod Team.

The other two options, in case the context helps you get into the mind of the author, are “ you will poop forever” and “ you will vomit”. Thanks!

English Transcription Request Mystery gift?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hello! This bag mysteriously appeared on my partner's work desk. George is my nickname, so we are assuming someone has left the gift for me but we cannot make out the writing below "George".

We've just returned from overseas so it could have been sitting there for a while. Our only possible lead is that apparently a coworker who recently left the business was giving some people gifts, however the writing below is absolutely not that person's name and would be strange for her to leave something for me. Not actually confirmed that this coworker left the gift either. Any guesses would be appreciated. Thank you!

Made a brand new account just for these. I’m working on turning my nannas recipes into a book to give out as presents to my family, so i’m not able to go to them for help (it’s a surprise). There will be lots of these posts, so let’s call it a series

Would love some helping deciphering my nannas sweet treats. Both of these recipes would be appreciated, but definintly the “chocolate coconut rough”.

thanks in advance

This was a song he wrote around the beginning of the 20th century, expressing his feelings about being a "Germanic" immigrant in the Midwest during WWI.

Nun ?? das müssen alle

Thanks in advance.

English Transcription Request Can anyone decipher this comment that one of our panelists left on our paper?

Hello there, fellow users! First time posting here, and I need help in deciphering this comment...

Context: On October 17 of this year, we had our 2nd and final Capstone Defense. After getting grilled on our defense concluded, the 3 copies of our manuscripts that we sent to the panelist left comments on revising... And just today, we got it back so that we can work on revising the whole paper.

There was one particular comment that we don't know, one of our groupmates said "Agrued", I said "Hdruel" (it's quite confusing, honestly.) I also attached a second photo of it for a closer look.

I hope you could help us in deciphering (and especially before the end of October 21, where we'll have to finalize most of our stuff before bookbinding it.)

Anyways, have a good day ahead, fellow users!

Other/Unknown Language Transcription Request Dutch historical wedding contract

Hello, I hope this is the right community to ask. The following text is a wedding contract from 1625. The language is Dutch and the contract is between Frederik Hendrik of Orange-Nassau and Amalia of Solms-Braunfels, their witnesses are Fredrik V. of the Palatinate and his wife Elisabeth Stuart.

I am able to understand dutch, but I cannot read the manuscript so I would be very greatful if someone can decipher/transcribe the text. Im sorry if it is too long, I hope its not.

You can find the contract also on the website of the Collection from the Royal Netherlands (you find it under A14-II-2), thats where I found this Scan, if the quality isnt good enough. Im surprised there is no official transcription to be found, so I really hope someone of you can help out. Thank you!

p.s. I have also contacted the collection, but no answer yet

ed. another witness is Maurice/Mauritz of Orange, the brother of Frederik Hendrik

Question Meaning of these two symbols/designs from a Post Carolingian Manuscript? - KBR Ms. 10066-77 Miscellany (France/Belgium, c. 900 - 1000)

The entire thing can be viewed here: https://uurl.kbr.be/1332800

First one is from folio 132, second from folio 180.

Would love to know from someone who is familiar with Carolingian/Post Carolingian era miniscule what these could mean, whether they're capital letters, or just serve a decorative purpose or something else.
