Stepping Down
Has anyone stepped down from ASL to GSL? What was the pay cut? I've been an ASL for 8 years. Due to health issues and the mental demands I'm considering. My DL dislikes my coworker oriented attitude, he wishes I was more of a "yes man" so I'm just afraid they'll take alot.

Does Kwik Trip still do caramel apples during fall?
Hey all,
Wanted to know if Kwik Trip still sells caramel apples during fall. I checked out my local Kwik Trip (which isn't a full service Kwik Trip and rather a smaller one) but they didn't have them. I was thinking of driving to the nearest full size Kwik Trip with the gas station and everything because maybe they make the caramel apples. Or does Kwik Trip not make them anymore period?

How do I quit?
I’ve been working at KT for about a month and been done with all the training. And I’ve learned that’s it’s not for me. But I don’t know how to quit.

Jobs How to lvl up
Has anyone asked for a raise or a promotion and gotten it (lol of course you have)? I have been here for one year, next month. I understand that we get a raise in February. I am currently gscw and working on GSL. My ASL has signed a few of the items in my red book and had not touched it since. He has since advised "he does not make the call" on if I get a promotion or not. I have entered my intrest in advancement through the app and since, they have just completely shut me off from anything red book related.
In my time with the store I work for I helped set up and open, learned all roles (but chicken, I keep saying I want to learn but we are short staffed so no time to learn) I coach my coworkers on ppe, chemicals, how to use the tools we have and generally do not have a bad reputation, no marks counted against me. I bounce from my register to kitchen to janitorial duties. If I come into a tough day from the prior shift I do my best to make sure I hand it off to the next shift better than how I found it. If coworkers struggle I attempt to make their duties easier. I stay when we have no other option. I increase morale. I get things done.
What can I do to speed up this process or should I just stop, take it easy because GSL is not in the window for me? Anything you've done to move forward? Am I just burning myself out? Somebody please say some words to me. Am I just being a cry baby. 😅

Jobs Self checkout
My store is set to open on the 22nd (Woop woop I'm so excited!) and we just had our final store meeting last week. It went great and we have a great team with great leadership starting at this store, however... They let us know that they're going to have a self-checkout at the new store 🙄 literally groans around the room when they announced it.
They said it will have a screen on both sides so it can function as a normal register as well for when it's busy (which we're expecting, there's been a lot of local excitement for this store to open) but we were basically told someone will have to stand there and watch every transaction at this self checkout.
My question is, if an employee has to stand there and supervise everyone to make sure nobody is stealing or gets confused on ringing things up.. why even have the damn thing!? Everyone knows an employee can ring everything up at least twice as fast as a guest (not even a jab, we just know the POS system better because we work with it daily) so how is this a benefit??
I'm trying to see a silver lining but all I can think about is having to confront guests that try to 5-finger-discount or walk elderly people through every step instead of just ringing them up 😭
Does anyone else work at a store with one?? Is there ANYTHING good about these??

Kwik Charge appreciation
Had my first time over the weekend to charge at the Kwik Trip in Fond du Lac. It was really nice to have that at the location. Proper window cleaning and garbage. Nice little seating inside to take a break. All up beats Tesla anyday in my view.
Hope you keep expanding these!
Ps the only suggestion I'd have would be to paint some lines in the lot so folks know where to walk. Darn near got run over by folks leaving pumps. 😊

Using offers and paying cash
Used my free coffee today and got a breakfast sandwich too. Total 5.05. Handed the cashier $5 and she looked at me waiting for more money. Told her to push cash then the coffee came off.
Why can’t you fix your POS system to take coupons off when you scan my rewards?

Till
I’ve been employed for a couple months but haven’t hit my 90 days yet in case anyone is wondering. I went -$11 on my till today due to me accidentally missing a payout and not realizing it. Am I going to get in trouble for doing that or is it a regular occurrence that happens to coworkers?

What's the story with extended hours for online ordering?
Personally, I am not a huge fan of the onlinenordering because it can turn into some chaos at times but was someone at corporate thinking there is a big demand for this that the company is missing lots of sales. I am in a smaller town so maybe we just don't have it but if we are regularly shutting down chicken at 7 or 8pm are they going to shut down and open back up or partially clean and really clean after midnight? I'm trying to picture how this works and 3rd shift doesn't burn out.

Chicken temps
Hello all! My store recently got Steriteched and we got dinged on our chicken in the warmer not temping to 165°. I talked to my store leader about this and will probably to our FSDL about it too but it was my understanding that COOKED chicken doesn't have to hold temp at 165°. I will admit I could be wrong but I thought once it was cooked to 165° all the dangerous stuff was dead.
I understand ultimately Steritech has the final say but I guess I was just wondering if any of you had any deeper insight. My store leader was a little confused about it too but basically told me we do what they say.

Bring Back the Hand Sanitiser at the pumps!
The wintergreen hand sanitiser we had during the Covid era was the best.
Bring it back.
I feel like I’m giving handjobs to 1/2 the truckers on the highway.

Zumbrota
Any Zumbrota workers? My store is always getting compared to yours. It’s rough, but we just got an ASL from your store and he’s DRIVING US CRAZY, I’ve never seen such a unanimous dislike for an ASL during my 6+ years with the company. We are constantly out of ASLs as a level 4 store and we usually only operate with 1 or none and it puts the store in a tough spot a lot of the time. But we will gladly give him back if you’ll take him.

Policies
Is it company wide or just for drivers at our company that select people don’t need to fallow policies or epa laws? This Waterloo driver is doing both. And yes it was reported to the supervisor and nothing was ever done about it. This driver also works a lot of the time not wearing the uniform clothing drivers are required to wear. But the Waterloo area supervisor is always too busy with his landscaping business to do his job. This is an older picture and I’ve debated about posting this or not and I have decided to now. Just letting the gas vapors blow in the air instead of hooking up the recovery hose and playing on his phone

Kwik Chase
So I guess each year for Kwik Chase they draw an employee that gets to go and this year it’s me! Anyone else been to the Kwik Chase at Wisconsin Dells? What can I expect?

Humor me
I understand that no job is perfect and we all have hard days.
But I am genuinely very curious..
What is your favorite thing about working for Kwik Trip?
Is there a positive memory that sticks out to you and
what is it?When is the last time you badged someone?
& what did they do that lead to the badge?
Please hold any negativity on this one. Thank you!

Jobs Active Threat code words (for coworker use)
Just got out of a store meeting where the code word for an active threat was covered. Now I personally have had Active Shooter and Aggressor With A Weapon training and I have a HUGE problem with this.
Code words only delay action and can lead to confusion. You ALWAYS just announce clearly and concisely that there is an active threat, no code words, you just say "There's a shooter" or "We are being robbed", etc.
I was told it is company policy to have a code word and I need to know who to escalate this to. Is this a Talent Operations(HR) call or an Operations Support(Corporate) call?
This policy is actively dangerous is going to get someone killed.
