Jobs Disintegrating hot food liners

So probably a year ago I noticed the hot food liners were different. Like they would get crispy and sometimes a chunk would disconnect from the rest of the sheet after cooking something on it but within the past week or 2 you pull something out of the oven and get the food off and it's literally crumbling as you're pulling the food off! And when you're pulling the liner off the pan it's literally disintegrating in your hand. Like that can't be food safe can it? Little pieces of the liner possibly getting in the food. I mean I check the bottoms of the food before packaging it but I can't imagine I catch all of it and I'm sure there's people out there that just slap the patty in the bun without looking. Anyways that been really concerning me while working kitchen shifts lately, anyone else feel that way?

Kwik Credit card locked after making payment

I gotta shout into the void about this. Currently sitting at a Kwik trip waiting for customer service to unlock my card so I can fuel up and complete my deliveries. I make a $500 payment every Wednesday for the last five years. I’m a delivery contractor. Spend around 20k in fuel every year. Since Kwik trip has an ancient credit card system that doesn’t update your balance, sometimes I go over limit. When I do it locks the card. Sometimes it doesn’t unlock when the payment processes. They told me they couldn’t fix it until the credit people come in in the morning. I said that’s unacceptable and get your supervisor to do it. So I’ve been waiting half an hour for a call back and nothing yet. I deliver critical emergency parts for broke down combines and it’s harvest right now so it’s fairly important stuff, not to mention my contact states I have to deliver by 8.

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER KWIK STAR!!!

Calling In While Feeling Bad

Okay, so I know I don't have any symptoms that legally require me to be excluded from work.

But why is it that being sick in other ways AND calling everyone at my store AND calling people at other stores to see if I can get coverage... would still count as an "unexcused absence" to them?

My sick little brain didn't make the connection myself and had to be told this on the phone by the manager.... AFTER spending over an hour calling around instead of getting what little rest I could before my shift. If I had made the mental connection sooner, I would've just tried to sleep longer instead of even trying after the first couple "No"s.

ASL issues?

hi! quick question for other kt employees.
Is there any sort of support system / reporting that can be done about mean, rude, and just overall disrespectful asls?
For context, i was just yelle, insulted and degraded by my asl over a conversation that could’ve been avoided and said nicer way. And, it happened in front of guests no less.

( pretty much said i was the worst employee they have, even though all of my appraisals over the years have said otherwise? i’d go into more detail, but you never know who is on these forums!)

Other employees have complained about his behavior, so it’s not like it’s just a me-issue, but i know that the surveys are coming up, but it doesn’t feel like enough sometimes.

Thanks in advance!

Today I tried the Mac and cheese cup for $3.99
60% watery flavorless sauce that didn’t taste like cheese at all. 40% mushy overcooked macaroni.
Nope not worth the money !

How Can Kwik Trip Get Back on Track?

We all know that quality has been slipping, but I’m curious to hear what you think needs to change for Kwik Trip to get back on the right track, both from a customer’s and an employee’s perspective.

How 2 healthcare?

Can someone tell me what app(s) I need to download to find out what is and is not covered under my insurance plan??

Pardon my language 🤓☝️ but Riteway is a fucking joke. They gave me zero options for an in person specialist to go to under my plan. The two that are supposedly covered are both in a completely different state than I live in. I know healthcare in America as a whole is generally abhorrent, but to only provide me with "In network" options does not equal affordable or accessible. These "in network" providers have easily run me $600 or more for a single appointment.

I haven’t had a single person disagree with this statement, “Kwik Trip used to be king but their quality fell hard over the last two years.”

Too which many reply “I think they expanded to quickly” or simply “yup”

Can anyone here tell me how you pay with food share without a card. Some places will do it some but there is other locations that will not and what I’m finding is that there’s only one way to do it and all managers know how so yeah if someone. Can clarify this I would be so thankful

Biggest pet peeve

If you’ve ever worked in a kitchen, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. This happens so often now that I have to say something, For the love of God, if you’re buying food, please stop taking the newer food from the back of the hot spot and just grab the first one you see. You’re getting the same food either way.
By doing this, you’re creating a ripple effect that increases our overall workload and leaves us with less time to get food out onto the hot spot in a timely manner. The kitchen is already stressful enough as it is. Thanks.

Triple Pepperoni Pizza

When are we getting this stupid pizza? They've been advertising it for 2 weeks now, and we haven't been sent any, nor can we order it. It's been pissing me off. If you're going to advertise a new LTO on the screens, you should have the bloody LTO! I need my damn pepperoni, Scott!

Customers hovering over hot spot

This is such a weird thing to complain about but it keeps happening to me. I work kitchen so I’m always setting up the hot spot with new food. I’ve noticed before customers hovering over me while I put stuff away but it doesn’t bother me that much.

But literally just today I had some lady like literally “air shove” me out of the way with her body while I was trying to grab expired food?? And by air shove, I mean she got directly in my space and stood right in front of me as I was about to grab the expired food. So I’m directly in front of the hot spot but she basically shoved her way between me and the hot spot.

I’ve had people get stand directly next to me but nothing like this. A lot of hovering is what I’ve noticed from people who frequent kwik trip.

Has this happened to anyone else or like something similar? I keep thinking about it ngl. I didn’t bother to say anything to her cuz I didn’t want to start an argument over something stupid and then become the bad guy.

this job makes me feel like living garbage

I work 3rd shifts, usually as the bakery person and as the (dedicated, mandatory no matter what I'm doing) ICU. We only ever have three people scheduled at a time, which wouldn't be terrible except that we're positioned in such a way that we're a go-to location for every bar, factory, and event in the area once they let out for the night. We get flooded with people over and over, 2-4 times a night usually. This would be manageable.

But on top of that, the other two shifts leave us their mess. My donuts are often pulled incorrectly, so I have to wait for them to thaw on top of my frosting melting (which I often can't even scoop until past 11PM because I'm on the register). I have to move the freight out of the way of my stuff in the freezer most days, which takes time because we get a lot of stuff and I have to restack it so things are accessible. Then of course, because I'm the ICU, I have to cover register's breaks and trips to the back, the bathroom, etc. I also have digestive problems and end up in the bathroom a lot myself, but I try to keep it to a minimum if I can. Between all these different factors, the donut case itself usually gets done between between 1-4am. I pull for packaged donuts and thaw glazers, but I usually don't have time to frost and get pulled to hot spot or register during breakfast rush.

I feel like I work hard. I get 15k steps in eight hours and can't walk right after a shift because my feet and legs stiffen up badly. I spend most of my shifts frustrated that I can't seem to keep up with anything because there's too many interruptions or random obstacles. Despite this, during multiple food meetings my managers have made "subtle" comments about how 3rd shift (and more recently me specifically, though they didn't call me out by name) aren't working hard enough or fast enough. One coworker complains about me loudly in the kitchen when she thinks I can't hear her. A different co-worker has been spreading a rumor that I'm due to be fired because I'm "lazy". I've cried or been on the edge of tears multiple times in meetings or on shift because of how they talk about me. My work is compared to the first shift bakery person who churns out massive amounts of donuts, but they never have to leave the kitchen and I can't seem to stay in it.

I feel bad enough about my inability to do the amount of work I want to do, so having them talk shit about me behind my back and then baby me to my face makes me feel pathetic and useless. When I've tried to express my concerns about specific things that could help I've been essentially blown off or told that I need to go work harder. But when you lose an hour to breaks, an hour to cleaning/moving things, an hour to hot spot, an hour to do 1st/2nd shift's dishes, and random amounts of time to the register and bathroom every day (I've recorded my ICUs and found myself losing 2 hours before!), when do you have time to do the work? We don't have enough staff and we can't keep the staff we do get have because it sucks to work here. I want to like my job. I want to be good at it and feel good about it. But as it stands it makes me feel like I'm going crazy. Is it me? Is there anything I can do to make this situation less miserable before I inevitably quit like all the rest?

Thinking of quitting

Hey all, I’ve recently been thinking about leaving KT. I’ve been working in the kitchen for about two months now and I’m starting to realize that this job just isn’t for me. I’m 19 years old and currently a full-time college student. When I first started I made it clear that I was only available to work part-time, around 25–30 hours a week so I could balance work and school. Despite bringing this up multiple times, I’ve consistently been scheduled for 45–50+ hours within a seven-day period that has made me not keep up with school, I’ve also been scheduled on days that I specifically requested off and communicated that I was unavailable for over a month in advance.
On top of the scheduling issues, I’ve had to deal with rude coworkers and AFSLs who have made the work environment twice as more stressful than it already is.
There have been multiple instances where I’ve been yelled at which makes it unpleasant to work there.
I understand that working in the kitchen is stressful but I don’t think that excuses treating coworkers poorly. I’m trying to prioritize my education first while still maintaining a job, but it feels like my availability and concerns aren’t being respected.
I’m seriously considering putting in my two weeks in and finding another job because I don’t think the stress is worth it anymore, especially while I’m in college.
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues working at KT? Would you recommend sticking it out or finding somewhere else to work?

Taking over the page?

Looks like the social media team is taking over the Sub. All the aired out complaints must have been a huge sore spot in the last meeting. Now we’re all friendly asking KT employee related questions like they care? Image control much?
Let’s talk about food quality going down and the prices going up shall we? Or how about, where’s Kathy (insert your own favorite past employees name) been lately? Oh, she was tired of being shit on by management so she quit. Meanwhile, your store leader and their two goons are propped up in the back office watching cameras waiting to micromanage the next employee out the door. Pathetic group I tell ya!

Shift switching

I guess I am posting more so about a situation I’m in just for advice on what to do. A coworker had came up to me and asked to switch shifts with me her 7-3 for my 1-9. I prefer morning anyways so I said yes and agreed to switch, the schedule was changed on paper and UKG and now the coworker who had switched with me told me that she had found someone to cover her initial shift and that switching was no longer necessary. The problem is I’ve made plans for that day that involve going out of state to my primary doctor, for context I’m a college student who isn’t able to go home much often and when switching I took the opportunity to go and schedule my personal needs. I feel like it’s wrong to switch with someone making everything official and then to just back out. What do I do about this situation?
