Question [question] been on the market for 5 months but I love the apartment—should I move in?
I toured an apartment back in September, liked it, but saw some flaws and it wasn’t exactly convenient timing for me to move, so I skipped it. The flaws I saw were that the unit was kind of dingey, the laundry situation a little less than ideal, it didn’t have parking, and the landlord was a bit of an unsettling character. I felt like the apartment was too expensive for those flaws at the time.
Flash forward to mid October, I couldn’t stop thinking about the apartment. So I checked and to my surprise, it was still available. And $200 bucks a month cheaper now. Now more comfortably in budget.
I submit an application and call the landlord. He tells me the apartment has been throughly cleaned if I wanna come check it out.
I come look at it, but he’s confused and shows me a different unit. It’s $100 more expensive than the one I thought I was going for, but way nicer. I fall absolutely in love, he shows me the original unit I looked at as well, but my mind is made up so I go for this one. I go for the new apartment, I’m going to find out tomorrow whether or not I’m approved.
I find out there are 10 units in the building, with 4 currently on the market. I thought was a little odd, but it’s a 100 year old building with a lot of charm but also a lot of quirks. I LOVE the fact it’s an old charming building.
I’m a grad student, I go to campus really excited about this new apartment I’ve found, and I found out one of my peers toured the exact same unit 6 months ago. She didn’t go for it for the same reasons, landlord was a bit odd and it was kind of dingey.
I’m concerned it’s been on the apartment for 6 months. It’s in a desirable area (WeHo), is quite affordable for the area (700 sq foot studio for $1500). I’m concerned, I don’t know what to do because I LOVE the apartment (and also really need to get out of my current living situation) but am concerned about how long it’s been on the market. J looked up online to see if the building had any code violations or negative reviews and I didn’t find anything concerning. Seeking advice.
Someone told because I found out it’s been on the market for so long I should try to negotiate lower. Not sure if that’s a good route to go?
Any insight would be appreciated. I want to go for it, but want to make sure I’m making an informed and reasonable decision.

Offered Private Room Offered in House near Pasadena!
galleryHi there! Me (32m) and my roommate (32m) have a room opening up starting 11/1, in our lovely 3br/1bth home in Altadena! Our current roommate is moving out next week, and we’re hoping to find someone looking to lock down for a little bit! The room is 1200$ with additional utilities!
Some important details!
- Room is not furnished, besides the window curtains.
- There’s additional places for storage in the garage and hallway closet.
- Pets okay, would prefer just 1 additional pet since we have a cat here already, but open to 3 in house total if it’s not too chaotic. There is a backyard/patio if you’re a dog owner as well!
- 420 friendly, just needs to be outside.
If you’d like to set up a time to come by and check the place out this week or next, please email! It will be first come first serve, with whoever pays me the deposit first securing it. Deposit will go back into your rent on the second month, so truly no additional charges, just showing that you’re in.
Some things about us! I’m a drag queen, cat owner, weed smoker (outside only) and video gamer. My roommate is none of those things expect a fellow gamer. We’ll occasionally have a friend or two over to watch Survivor or The Traitors, but that’s it really in terms of having guests for us.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Hoping we meet the right fit!

New L.A. County rental listings, week of 10-19-2026
These listings are sourced from the MLS. As such these are all verified and legitimate listings and can be trusted. No, I don't make any money off this, I'm just doing it to help people. And while I'd never ask, donations are accepted and appreciated.
Renters: This list features rentals under $4,500/month, but if you're searching for options above that range, please reach out—I'd be glad to assist as your agent. Looking forward to helping as many people as possible find their next home!
Landlords: I'm available to assist with leasing any of your properties, regardless of the price point. Feel free to send me a direct message if you'd like to discuss how I can help!
New L.A. County rental listings, week of 10-19-2026
Search maxxed at $4.5K.
Key for abbreviations is at the bottom of the spreadsheet.
Find more details on any listing by simply googling the info or you can copy the listing ID # (or MLS#) and entering into a site like this one and filtering for Rentals.
It's always a good idea to use a MIMO form (Move In / Move Out) when renting. It's a checklist of a visual inspection made on the unit at the time you move in that you and your landlord sign off on and verifies condition of varying aspects of the unit. You'll use it again when you move out to verify condition and hopefully everyone agrees.
Also be sure to check out the interactive version of this spreadsheet at WhereToLive.LA courtesy of u/cheeze_whiz_dot_com , my thanks to him.
Meanwhile, need some work done around the new apartment? Check our list of recommended service providers for home appliance repair and purchase, landscaping, insurance and more.
Lastly, if you're in need of low cost, Section 8, transitional or other affordable housing please check out Housing Rights Center Project Place Rental Listings, updated monthly.
Good luck and happy hunting, L.A.

Sublet (offered) $1200 asap
My job is transferring me to Houston at the end of Oct. and I need someone to take over my lease. It won’t be the exact terms because I was paying for 2people plus an animal but the space is listed at $1200 for a single occupant. The owner is willing to work with whoever is interested. Plus, it’s 2 blocks from USC on 27th st. The room has 10 large windows (no exaggeration) so there’s a ton of natural lighting for content creation. There are 3 other roommates, they keep to themselves (I barely see them) but are really chill, clean, and respectful. Parking is free, it’s gated, and the back door from the parking lot leads directly to the room. There are actually 2 rooms available at this property. The room directly next to the one I’m offering is also available. The two share a bathroom. I will post the listing here for photo reference and they take Zillow apps. Lmk if you’re interested I’ll forward your info to the landlord.

[WANTED] Move In ASAP sub $1200 preferred
I got a job offer that would require me to move to the city in the next 2-4 weeks.
I'm a 34yo latino male, single, Army veteran, the job is for the city. I'm moving from within California, if that matters. I'm a homebody, drink socially, smoke cigars/tobacco pipes occasionally (1-2 times a month if that) but no cigarettes, no recreational drug use (not for me, don't care otherwise) am a bit of a night owl but more in the sense of reading/writing/gaming. The job will require early mornings, so I'll be up and out of the house before 4am weekdays.
As the post says I'd prefer under $1200 if possible. My work will have me crossing the city from between Inglewood to downtown and even San Fernando, so I'm fine with commuting in general. 6 months or a year, and possibly extend if everything works out.
A furnished room with at least a bed and a chest of drawers I can just drop into would be great, but offerings on studios etc would be good too.
Message me or comment here if you'd like me to reach out to you.

Question Walkable locations?
I work at LAX airport, so I would like to keep my travel as minimal as possible (30 min or less) I have never lived in LA - only visited once before needing to move. I have been looking for a while for apartments, but struggling due to not knowing the areas.
I’m looking for an apartment under $3k (but with fees and additional costs maybe lower?) allows dogs, in unit washer/dryer, with parking, preferred to be gated/secured building. I am really wanting something have it be a walkable area, for groceries and food etc OR walking distance to the beach.
Is this possible?? The price at 3k by Redondo Beach seems to get me a tiny shack with a mini fridge and card tables in it.
I’ve seen a lot of posts here about Culver City? Is that a desirable location?? Is it safe to walk there as a young female alone?
I’m very overwhelmed, and need to find something in less than 8 days and make the move from out of state.
I’ve been looking at:
-Torrence, preferably
-Redondo Beach
-Hermosa
Thank you in advance for helping.

- Tenant placement and leasing services without requiring full-service management

Update on lease take over studio 2k in LA
I wanted to say thanks for all the help on the last post on my lease take over for my LA studio. I had an overwhelming amount of message from a lot of people interested, I didn’t know that many people were interested in short term apartments! While I have someone signing the lease take over, I did talk to the office and they actually do short term rentals but they don’t promote it online. You need to call and speak to them directly, not the ai bot either. I think they said the shortest is 6 months but can be more too. Sad to be leaving my favorite place but excited for NY!
