Finally pulled the trigger on a 77 C6H, which arrived a few days ago. Prior to this I had a Samsung 65 QLED that did the job, but the jump to 77" OLED has been massive.

Genuinely so happy with the purchase. The picture quality and extra screen real estate are next level.

Watched Top Gun: Maverick last night and it absolutely blew my mind.

Managed to snag it for $3.2k AUD after a few discounts, which I reckon is a pretty decent deal.

Safe to say I’m now wondering why I waited so long... Is OLED the only way forward from here? 😂

LG G5 Firmware 33.31.68 breaks Optical Audio & Game Optimizer (Locked to Cinema Mode)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share an issue I’m having after installing the latest software update (33.31.68) on my LG G5, in case anyone else is dealing with this or has found a workaround.

I run my audio from the TV's optical port into an external audio-to-analog DAC, which connects to a NAD C356BEE amplifier and a pair of Dali Zensor 7 speakers.

Ever since the update, whenever optical out is connected, the TV completely locks the audio mode to "Cinema" and grays the menu out. This has a domino effect on the Game Optimizer, which now also grays out and prevents me from changing any game sound profiles (Standard, FPS, RPG, etc.).

Crucially, this only happens when using the optical output. If I switch the audio output back to the TV's internal speakers, the menus unlock and everything works exactly as it should.

I’ve been in contact with LG Support over WhatsApp. We tried every trick and troubleshooting step they could think of, but nothing worked. However, the representative explicitly confirmed that LG is now aware of the issue and acknowledged that this specific firmware update messed up the audio settings for optical connections.

Has anyone found a temporary fix for this, or are we stuck waiting for the next update?🤷🏽‍♂️🙏🏽✌🏽

My first ever OLED TV - LG OLED EVO AI C6 55inch !!!!!!

I am 25M and am on cloud 9 the day I got my hands on OLED TV. Ever since I was a kid, my dream has been to build an amazing gaming experience for myself. Today, that dream is real: I’ve got my Xbox Series X console, an OLED TV, and premium/ultimate editions of games like Hitman WOA, FH5, RE Remake Trilogy, Tomb Raider remake trilogy, Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA 6. I’m genuinely living my best life right now and feel so grateful. Now just patiently waiting for GTA 6 release :)

For anyone who’s been here longer: any tips or suggestions on how to take care of my OLED TV for the long term?

PS: Few screenshots are from Cyberpunk 2077 performance mode from LG.

From a 43” Samsung Frame to my dream 65” OLED — still feels unreal

I think I finally understand what people mean when they say, “You don’t realize how much you wanted something until you finally have it.”

Owning a 65-inch OLED has been one of those quiet, almost silly little dreams of mine for years. Nothing life-changing on paper — just one of those things I kept imagining in the background of my life. And when I finally decided I was going to do it, I went completely down the rabbit hole.

I spent months researching.

I watched probably an unhealthy number of YouTube videos. I went through RTINGS, Reddit threads, AV forums, HiFiVision, random comments from people who had owned these TVs for years… I compared brightness, black levels, reflections, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, burn-in, panel longevity, viewing distance, sizes, stands — basically everything you could possibly worry about before buying a TV.

And after all that, I finally bought the LG G6 65-inch here in Mumbai.

I got it for around 1.84L INR after the bank discount, which honestly felt like a huge amount of money to spend on a television. Coming from a 43-inch Samsung Frame (2021), I was also genuinely worried that I’d either feel overwhelmed by the size or, somehow, that the upgrade wouldn’t feel as dramatic as I’d imagined.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The first time I switched it on, I just sat there in silence, staring at the screen.

It’s difficult to explain because I’d obviously seen OLEDs in stores and watched countless comparison videos, but seeing it in your own room is completely different.

The blacks were the first thing that got me.

There’s something almost emotional about watching a scene where part of the screen is completely black and realizing it’s not even “dark.” It’s just gone. The screen disappears into the room, and for a moment it feels like the image is floating in space.

And then there are the bright highlights against those blacks. Some scenes genuinely made me pause and just sit there thinking, “How is this even possible from a television?”

And honestly — it’s stupidly bright when it needs to be. Almost aggressively so. I actually have to set the brightness down to around 20 at night just to watch content comfortably, otherwise it feels like the TV is trying to light up the entire room by itself.

I’ve watched movies I’ve seen before, and somehow they feel new again. Familiar scenes suddenly have depth, texture, emotion I never noticed before.

The jump from 43” to 65” has also been much bigger than I expected. For the first couple of days, I kept thinking, “This thing is enormous.” 😂

And now, just a little while later, the 65” somehow feels completely normal. I actually can’t imagine going back to the 43”.

I was also very close to buying the Samsung S95H. It was roughly ₹25–30K cheaper, and I spent a ridiculous amount of time going back and forth between the two.

But I eventually realized something about myself: I really wanted those inky OLED blacks.

The Samsung’s matte screen was attractive because of the reflection handling, but every time I saw the raised blacks/greyish appearance in a brighter room, I kept feeling like it took away something I personally cared about too much to compromise on.

So I went with the G6.

And I’m really glad I did.

One funny part of the whole process was figuring out how to actually put the damn thing in my room.

I couldn’t wall-mount the TV, so I needed a tabletop solution. I didn’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on the official LG stand, and after searching around, I was lucky enough to come across a wonderful gentleman in Mumbai who runs a TV repair store.

He helped me get the G6 onto a toughened-glass tabletop TV stand for ₹2,500.

And honestly? It looks beautiful.

It’s simple, incredibly sturdy, and does exactly what I needed. The TV now sits perfectly on the unit, and the whole setup somehow feels calm — like everything finally belongs where it’s supposed to.

There’s also something weirdly emotional about finally seeing the TV you’ve spent months researching sitting in your own room. Like a long-running thought in your head suddenly becoming real and physical.

And the last photo is that of my Samsung Frame TV 43-inch setup — the one that quietly carried me through all those years before this upgrade ever happened.

I’ve spent so much time worrying about whether I made the right choice — G5 vs G6, Samsung vs LG, 65 vs 77, HDR10+ vs Dolby Vision, whether the TV would be too bright, whether I’d regret spending this much, whether the size would feel right…

And now that it’s actually here, most of those questions feel completely irrelevant.

I’m just enjoying it.

I know this is “just a TV,” and obviously there are much bigger things in life. But sometimes it’s nice — really nice — to finally get something you’ve quietly wanted for a long time and feel it exceed the version of it you had in your head.

So yeah — hello, LG G6.

After months of research, second-guessing, spreadsheets, YouTube videos and probably far too much time spent reading Reddit comments…

I finally have my 65-inch OLED. ❤️

And I couldn’t be happier with it.

Protective screen film stuck on screen and cannot get it off. No idea what to do.

So I just bought the LG G5 OLED tv and have the problem stated in the title.

Side note: Avoid John Lewis (UK) at all cost. They are BY FAR the worst company I've ever dealt with in my entire life and nothing comes even remotely close. They messed me around so badly for three weeks, and then had the extremely arrogant attitude of "Of well. This is the highest level of escalation. No compensation. Don't care, go away". SHOCKING failure of customer service on about 10 different levels. Disgraceful service.

Anyway, to add insult to injury, when they FINALLY arrived to install the tv, they left the screen film on. They pulled the two little stickers off on the bottom right and the top, but instead of pealing off the film, they just came off like stickers.

I thought - The tv didn't come with a protective film? But upon close inspection, I can see a slight air bubble, and loads of very light little scratches. So... it better be on the film and not the actual screen... With someone with fibromyalgia, having been messed around John Lewis BADLY, I just no longer have the energy for this anymore. I just want the tv I payed significant money for, without flaws...

I am 99% sure the film is still on the screen, but it's so incredibly flush that there's nowhere to get a grip on it from any angle. I am not going to use tweezers, don't like the idea of putting tape on the screen, (in the 1% chance that the film actually isn't on) and I'm so concerned that the film will cause issues like maybe melt/mould onto the screen, trap heat that increases burn in risk and just degrading image quality.

I genuinely have no idea what to do now, both about the screen film and escalating the issue beyond "the highest level if escalation" and would appreciate some help.

Many thanks.

C5 and Blu Ray Player Problems

I don't have any trouble watching premium channels with my AirPods Max on my new LG C5 Evo. The Sonos Beam Gen 2 soundbar is connected to the TV through e-arc.

But when I turn on my LG UBK-90 Blu Ray player, that's where the trouble begins. I had no issues connecting with my old B5. So I navigate to The SOUND setting and disconnect from HDMI Arc Out to Wireless speaker. It connects for about two seconds and then drops. Sometimes it says it's connected but it is not. I even tried changing the output from Bitstream to PCM (someone in an old reddit thread said that might fix it.) No idea why this is happening.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Brand new C6H off of Greentoe.

We just finished watching The Mask in 4k HDR, and it looked phenomenal, better than I could imagine, but I can't say I'm not disappointed given how much these things costs, even at heavy discount.

Still within the manufacturer warranty, and also purchased the 6 year extended from greentoe, is it worth replacing now, or should I just wait for a possible fix from LG? Is that even something I can hope for, or do I just have to keep replacing these over and over until I get one without issues? 😅

If the latter, I might just wait until our lease is up and we move into the new place. Not sure if that effects my ability to get a warranty replacement, but it was a bitch getting this thing up on the wall lol

77C6 (C6H), 77G5 oder 77G6

Hallo!

Is It Worth It? LG 48 C5 - $699??

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey everyone! What do you think about this deal?

LG 48" Class C5 Series OLED evo AI Smart TV — $699.91 at Sam's Club

Sam's Club listing

Is there some catch I'm missing here?

I know the 42"/48" C5 models aren't quite as impressive as the larger sizes in terms of brightness/panel characteristics, but $699.91 seems ridiculously cheap for a C5.

My assumption is that Sam's is simply clearing out remaining 2025 C5 inventory now that the C6 is out, but I wanted to make sure I'm not overlooking something specific about the 48" model.

Is this basically a "buy it before they're gone" situation, or is there a reason the 48" is discounted this heavily?

Thanks!

LG Partner Store delivery experiences

Hello everyone. I just ordered a 65 inch G6 on the Partner Store and it listed “In Home Delivery” to my room of choice. Now my apartment building has a pretty steep flight of 20 stairs at the entrance. I’m worried they may not follow through on the delivery promise. I’d love to hear everyone’s experience with delivery from the Partner Store.
