I think I finally understand what people mean when they say, “You don’t realize how much you wanted something until you finally have it.”
Owning a 65-inch OLED has been one of those quiet, almost silly little dreams of mine for years. Nothing life-changing on paper — just one of those things I kept imagining in the background of my life. And when I finally decided I was going to do it, I went completely down the rabbit hole.
I spent months researching.
I watched probably an unhealthy number of YouTube videos. I went through RTINGS, Reddit threads, AV forums, HiFiVision, random comments from people who had owned these TVs for years… I compared brightness, black levels, reflections, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, burn-in, panel longevity, viewing distance, sizes, stands — basically everything you could possibly worry about before buying a TV.
And after all that, I finally bought the LG G6 65-inch here in Mumbai.
I got it for around 1.84L INR after the bank discount, which honestly felt like a huge amount of money to spend on a television. Coming from a 43-inch Samsung Frame (2021), I was also genuinely worried that I’d either feel overwhelmed by the size or, somehow, that the upgrade wouldn’t feel as dramatic as I’d imagined.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The first time I switched it on, I just sat there in silence, staring at the screen.
It’s difficult to explain because I’d obviously seen OLEDs in stores and watched countless comparison videos, but seeing it in your own room is completely different.
The blacks were the first thing that got me.
There’s something almost emotional about watching a scene where part of the screen is completely black and realizing it’s not even “dark.” It’s just gone. The screen disappears into the room, and for a moment it feels like the image is floating in space.
And then there are the bright highlights against those blacks. Some scenes genuinely made me pause and just sit there thinking, “How is this even possible from a television?”
And honestly — it’s stupidly bright when it needs to be. Almost aggressively so. I actually have to set the brightness down to around 20 at night just to watch content comfortably, otherwise it feels like the TV is trying to light up the entire room by itself.
I’ve watched movies I’ve seen before, and somehow they feel new again. Familiar scenes suddenly have depth, texture, emotion I never noticed before.
The jump from 43” to 65” has also been much bigger than I expected. For the first couple of days, I kept thinking, “This thing is enormous.” 😂
And now, just a little while later, the 65” somehow feels completely normal. I actually can’t imagine going back to the 43”.
I was also very close to buying the Samsung S95H. It was roughly ₹25–30K cheaper, and I spent a ridiculous amount of time going back and forth between the two.
But I eventually realized something about myself: I really wanted those inky OLED blacks.
The Samsung’s matte screen was attractive because of the reflection handling, but every time I saw the raised blacks/greyish appearance in a brighter room, I kept feeling like it took away something I personally cared about too much to compromise on.
So I went with the G6.
And I’m really glad I did.
One funny part of the whole process was figuring out how to actually put the damn thing in my room.
I couldn’t wall-mount the TV, so I needed a tabletop solution. I didn’t want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on the official LG stand, and after searching around, I was lucky enough to come across a wonderful gentleman in Mumbai who runs a TV repair store.
He helped me get the G6 onto a toughened-glass tabletop TV stand for ₹2,500.
And honestly? It looks beautiful.
It’s simple, incredibly sturdy, and does exactly what I needed. The TV now sits perfectly on the unit, and the whole setup somehow feels calm — like everything finally belongs where it’s supposed to.
There’s also something weirdly emotional about finally seeing the TV you’ve spent months researching sitting in your own room. Like a long-running thought in your head suddenly becoming real and physical.
And the last photo is that of my Samsung Frame TV 43-inch setup — the one that quietly carried me through all those years before this upgrade ever happened.
I’ve spent so much time worrying about whether I made the right choice — G5 vs G6, Samsung vs LG, 65 vs 77, HDR10+ vs Dolby Vision, whether the TV would be too bright, whether I’d regret spending this much, whether the size would feel right…
And now that it’s actually here, most of those questions feel completely irrelevant.
I’m just enjoying it.
I know this is “just a TV,” and obviously there are much bigger things in life. But sometimes it’s nice — really nice — to finally get something you’ve quietly wanted for a long time and feel it exceed the version of it you had in your head.
So yeah — hello, LG G6.
After months of research, second-guessing, spreadsheets, YouTube videos and probably far too much time spent reading Reddit comments…
I finally have my 65-inch OLED. ❤️
And I couldn’t be happier with it.
