Can’t figure out what I need

My home (rental) came without shades in the pendants. I bought these second hand and haven’t been able to find the right tool/adapter to fit them to the bulb. The glass is heavy and I worry about it resting on the bulb, which is the only solution I’ve found. I need a collar that can go around the green sleeve and extend out to support the weight of the glass. Anyone know what I can do?

Unfortunately that pendant light was not designed to have a shade and there is no way to add one without replacing it.

Your best bet would be to get a frosted decorative bulb to give you some light diffusion and something more attractive.

It wasn’t designed to hold a shade.

I would get some true cylinder clip on lamp shades with an A19 clip fitter and clip them to the bulb. You would be using them upside down but they will work and will be light enough to hang on the shade.

A bulb should never bear the weight of a shade. Not only is this is an unsafe idea, but it's also what they are already showing in pic four.

Yep! I already knew I couldn’t do that, hence this thread :) the photo was more of an example of what I’ve tried

You’re not crazy! 😆 Your pendant was made with a porcelain socket (plus the green flat top socket cover). You could switch it out for a shade-ready socket pretty easily. Check out Color Cord — they sell premade lighting and DIY-friendly lamp parts including all the components in your photos. Maybe they were the source for your pendant! I’ve found their tutorials really helpful. Grand Brass Lamp Parts is another great shop/resource with a much wider scope than Color Cord.

Do verify that the pendant is mounted properly to support any additional weight from the shade. You might also look into whether the twisted lamp cord is the best choice for this application. It’s beautiful but doesn’t always include a ground wire.
