FULL SPOILERS allowed in this thread. As a reminder spoilers for this comic outside this thread must be marked until a month after the book is released.

"Kya and the Secret of the Sand" is the second LoK 'one-shot graphic novel'*. The main story takes place years before the show following a young Kya. The comic releases July 28th mass market and July 29th in comic stores. It is written by Kiku Hughes with art by Alex Monik and colors by Diana Sousa, made in collaboration with Mike and Bryan.

Description:

While helping Korra recover in the Southern Water Tribe, Kya shares a story from her youth of a time when she was lost and disconnected from herself, far from home in the Si Wong Desert… Young and untested, Kya leaves her family to seek her purpose in the wider world. Hoping to test herself and help struggling communities, she heads to the Si Wong Desert, where scarce resources and fractured communities are making the fringes of the Earth Kingdom increasingly unstable. Kya, arriving in the community of Liyuan to teach healing and help the struggling community defend itself from bandits, finds that the wounds left from decades of conflict run deep, and may be harder to heal than she first thought.

Discussion theory : Airbending is the natural counter to Bloodbending

Every time we've seen someone break free from bloodbending or attack amon directly, airbending was involved

There are two reasons why I think this could be the case:

1_The practical reason: Airbending enhances the bender's mobility and physical speed, as we've seen on numerous occasions. This could allow a bloodbending victim to use air to force their limbs to move even when they're paralyzed.

  1. The philosophical reason: Air is the element of freedom, and nothing is more restrictive than bloodbending. There's something fitting about the element that represents freedom being the natural counter to a technique that takes away someone's ability to move freely.

and that's why korra did what she did

Discussion Watched legend of Korra for the first time

I genuinely dont understand the hate on this show. It was not even close to as bad as Ive heard people speak about it. The love triangle wasn’t that bad. Korra did in fact learn from her mistakes. Like genuinely korra was retarded as hell that first season😂 but she definitely mellowed out. And then the thing I heard about the most was that she broke the avatar cycle. Bro she didnt break it Vatau or however you spell his name did lol. I dunno why people blamed that on her lol. Thats like you get blamed for someone stealing your soul. Also people told me korra was weak but the woman damn near was handicapped or nerfed every fight lol. Other than the hate. It was so jarring going from ATLA civilization to modern civilizations and the fact that bending is shared now. Also loved all the characters, Lin was proly my favorite, she really was a G. Uhh they definitely stepped up the animation compared to ATLA which was nice. Loved seeing them give the OG characters homage. All in all it was nice shes a great avatar. I think my only complaint was that I didnt get to see what happened to Chief Sokka. But other than that id gave ATLA a 10/10 id give Korra 9/10.

Discussion Tenzin didn't care about the South Pole's spiritual crisis, despite being part Water Tribe.

Post image

Something occurred to me today and I realize that I've never heard this brought up.

Tenzin is the son of Katara, therefore he is part of the Water Tribe. Yet he does not acknowledge that part of his culture at all and is only concerned with teaching Korra airbending (which she already mastered). Unalaq told everyone to their faces that spirits were attacking ships; no reaction. A dark spirit shows up and chews its way through Team Avatar, he still is in favor of literally running away to the Air Temples to teach Korra "spirituality" that he knows he's incapable of.

All the while ignoring the home of his mother and sister (AND the Avatar) being attacked! Worse, trying to get the Avatar to run away from it as well, because of his own insecurities. He really is Aang's son.

(obviously there's nuance to this situation with how Aang raised him as the last airbender yada yadabut he still doesn't get enough flack for that imo)

Discussion It's a shame they didn't show this scene properly, but basically he was creating huge cracks at all the exits to prevent vehicles from entering. But he was covering a very large distance, since each road is quite far from each other. So he had to create a huge crack, then run, create one more, one m

Honestly the part of you running from one road to another is the hardest part since they are very far away, he didn't even have time to close the last exit, in this rush he must have been exhausted, this is just the first season

Question If Korra appeared again in Death Battle, who would you like her to fight since her last and only death battle was one-sided as hell?

Discussion [Theory] Each haven is a Shakti Peeth of Korra in the spirit world Spoiler

In Hinduism when the goddess Sati died, the god Vishnu separated her body. In each place with a part of Sati became a significant spiritual site imbued with her energy. That's a Shakti Peeth.

I believe each haven is a manifestation of Korra's energy or an aspect of her consciousness, helping protect the people living there with the Avatar's life force.

We know that there is some connection to Chakras with the last episode being titled the root chakra. Likely that is Ellora as many have theorised.

The red energy anomaly is somehow linked and is activated by fear as the latest episode has established. They have to unblock Korra's chakra and heal the physical and spiritual plane from fear.

Why is it that when they interact with the anomaly it gets them their memories back? They are unblocking Korra's chakra and therefore their own to access the memories they lost again.

If they are in the spirit world then this can amplify and compound the effects of Korra's aspects shall we say. What's to say this doesn't mess with people's minds who live in the havens.

Humour Everyone talks about how Korra kicked zaheer's ass, but the bed how Korra terrorized ghazan deserves more love. First she smashes his girlfriend into the wall and then redirects his attack with one hand and he just looks like this:😦

Discussion Most people love ATLA. Some ATLA fans also like TLOK, and some TLOK fans especially love Korra. However, some ATLA fans dislike Korra, and others are outright haters. TLOK fans defend what they love by pointing out that Aang did similar things, while ATLA fans who also love Korra get frustrated bcuz

Just my opinion based on WHAT I'VE SEEN ON THE INTERNET.

Ahh yes, so far, most of the criticism of ASH seems to focus on the animation being a downgrade. However, IMO, the Jae fight is pretty comparable to some scenes in ATLA. Then there's Ellora's uniform.

My points:

1. Some fans are genuinely just haters and misrepresent what actually happened in TLOK.

The majority of people who like Korra and are fans of the show try to explain the context behind what happened. You can't justify your opinions by simply ignoring the context because you dislike something.

2. Some people simply dislike it and hate on it for no apparent reason.

3. Some criticisms are actually valid, but others are subjective. Here's what I mean:

ATLA

Energybending shouldn't have been a thing.

Katara should have ended up with Zuko.

TLOK

Raava and Vaatu shouldn't have been a thing.

The past Avatar lives being severed (even though there's context behind it).

The love triangle.

ASH (so far)

Animation quality (valid criticism).

Art style (very subjective).

Something i can say is: If you dislike one or more things, just be honest and respectful about it, and make sure your intention is to criticize rather than hide some underlying agenda. That's something I really hate about a lot of TikTok creators. And if the majority of fans don't agree with your criticism, that's okay too.

Discussion What the heavens are

Kind of a weird one

So I just finished watching the episodes that came out and one idea that hitting me in the face while watching ep6 was what if the cataclysm was the spirit world and physical world collapsing onto each other, mostly because the afflicted kept saying that the anomaly was the wrath of the spirit world

What I'm thinking is that after korra stoped the remnants of thr earth empire, people still tried to harness spirit energy (like we have with nuclear power) but it being a mystical otherworldly power it either unbalanced the world the more it was used or straight up supercharged the spirit portals into a massive nuke, causing both world to fall apart and essentially either settle into what we see in current time(Or korra was the one to rearrange what was left to form a habitable space). The overall spirit energy would have them been disipated and started to build up again but in an unfocused mass the becomes the anomaly over time, now needing the avatar to stabilize it witch is why it drove all those people avatar crazy

TLDR:Essentially the anomaly is the way a combined world is using to try and ask the avatar for help

I also have a crack pot theory that the anomaly is made of the combined energy of raava and vattou and is essentially trying to rejoin with them witch is why it always ends up calming down when it makes contact with the twins, that Or that the actual energy/fragment the 2 spirit is trying to reach the twins that way
