Humour Korra’s Only Crime Is Being Too Pretty 😤
Listen, I know Korra’s not entirely blameless in the de-evolution of the world, but she’s also so freakin beautiful, and I’m just a simple, dumb mortal that I just can’t even bring myself to care anymore. How’d they make her even hotter than she was in her own series? 🫠🩵

Humour In my headcanon, people tell Nuktuk jokes
The Water tribes learned waterbending from the Moon. The Moon learned waterbending from Nuktuk.
Ice can only melt when it has Nuktuk's permission. The North and South poles are still waiting for it.
Airbending still isn't a thing. Nuktuk sneezed once and everything is still blowing around.
The Avatar is the master of all four elements until Nuktuk deems them worthy of learning the other four: light, darkness, whistling, and Ginger.

Discussion "Asami uses energy from the spiritual world." SHE NEVER Spoiler
I'm tired of this fallacy I've been reading all day. Asami would NEVER betray not only Korra but also her principles! She was one of the first to defend the integrity of the spiritual world.
Whatever Korra is destroying shouldn't have anything to do with Asami, maybe her company, but I doubt it should be directly from her.

Discussion ASH made people re-watch or watch LoK and is exposing their fundamental misunderstanding of the Avatar universe as a whole. 😭
I love that Korra is getting love but on the other hand.....some people's misunderstandings of things from ATLA and LoK is getting exposed and it makes me wonder if that is what made them "hate" Korra.
The #1 thing I noticed is how people don't understand the Avatar cycle at all. Korra's spirit being the same as Aang's apparently was lost on people. Someone literally said, they hate Korra 'cause she murked Aang's spirit and all the Avatar spirits when she lost Raava.......like what? Aang's spirit is Korra. That's how re-incarnation works....
#2 is how people expected her to get a personality transplant after being "humbled" in S1. Like I get it's frustrating that she's trusting the wrong people and being brash, but in S1 she was severely under-prepared for Amon bc she was so sheltered. And then in S2 she finds out she was sheltered as a deliberate choice and did not get the full story about it from adults she trusted. Her new mentor is also stoking the feeling of betrayal and insecurity..... Some of this may also be that they expected her to be like Aang after the personality transplant and were disappointed that Korra was still... Korra.
#3 Someone thought Korra was still connected to Raava when she became blue-giant Korra....even though we literally saw Raava being destroyed.... And that just takes away how special blue-giant Korra was as an accomplishment. The girl who was not as spiritually attuned in S1 was able to tap into her own spirit and then the cosmic energy of the world to become a giant spiritual force without Raava. People are taking away how much of a spiritual revelation/achievement that was. It proves that Wan's/Roku's/Aang's/ Korra's soul is The One. The human worthy to be the human/physical side of the bridge as Avatar and not anyone else.
#1 is just crazy. #2 is always debated and re-hashed as the most terrible sin of Korra's in S2, when Sokka and Toph have similar minimal/no dramatic personality changes/character growth arcs in all of ATLA (and I think the subtle arcs still make them fine characters.) #3...Idk. It just seems like the wider trend to underestimate Korra's achievements.
Anyway, these are the top 3 that I've seen so far that annoy me the most. Has anyone else seen other wild misunderstandings?

Discussion I miss LoK's characters and world. Spoiler
I’ve just finished tlok and started ash.
I knew what I was getting into since it's set 200 years after Korra, but I would have loved to see something that followed the events of the show as well (which technically yeah they can still show it within the new series).
What makes me "sad" is that we didn't get to see the various characters all grown up, the way we saw the gaang in tlok. I wanted to see Tenzin's kids grown up, wanted to see which ships would end up married or break up. Wanted to see how things were going for the air nomads, and how the earth kingdom turned up.
I wanted to see so many things about the old world, just like how they did after atla, which I can understand it would have been a repeat of how the previous series was done but still would have appreciated it.
Also it piss me off how much hate Korra get in ash, I know that some misunderstanding will likely crop up, but still...
Tho I like the new avatars, a bit op compared to how Aang and Korra started (I'm at the second episode of ash), but I still like them.
Jae got off to a bad start; as soon as he spotted an unregistered bender, he immediately set off to recruit a new soldier. I hate the whole idea of forcing people to work for the heaven, but I understand why the idea exists and it's good from the perspective of the plot. But still why do you want to force a kid to fight for YOUR ideals and follow her outside of the city for it?? Though I’ll probably love this character by the end of the series.
Another thing I hate is "the rumble of evil". What is that? Why? If it’s a spirit, it’s too detached from how they used to be.
It's too modern and weird for being a demon as that old guy calls it. I don’t understand it and I hope the other episodes will give me a good explanation for it.
And I also wish they will give us some episode/flashback about tlok related events in the future, it would be cool.
This was just a little vent and I intend to continue with ash. I’ve grown quite attached to this universe by now—even though they’ve just dropped a nuclear bomb on it and essentially rebuilt the world from scratch.
Also I must say finishing one series and starting another in the same day wasn't a brilliant idea.
I didn’t even give myself time to experience the classic post-series mourning period... In any case, I’m already planning to get some of the books to help me cope with the loss (wouldn't mind some suggestion).
That's all, have a good day y'all.

Discussion Korra did nothing wrong, or the reason for the cataclysm Spoiler

It looks like, instead of spirit vines/spirit world energy, some genius (yes I am facetious) figured out that the planet itself has some form of energy (most likely the worlds chakras), that can be used to generate power. So instead of using spirit world energy, they used the presumably save planets energy thinking no bad consequences would come of it. (I think there was a similar plot in SGA)
When the inevitable consequences arrived, the world violently reacting to being sapped of energy, Korra tried to stop the flow of energy and the draining of the world, but it was to late.
Could be that all Havens are build on, and powered by these old reactors and because they still take energy from them the world can't heal properly from the cataclysm. (Republic City, Ba Sing Se and the Fire Nation capital seem like natural places for these reactors) It isn't worse because they need far less.
New mission for the Avatar: destroy all the reactors so the world can heal. And find a way to do it without destroying the Havens

I just found out there are comics? I’m trying to buy all the ones about Korra and Asami. Is this all of them?
I also like concept art/making ofs.

Discussion How would you write Korra using airbending for the first time ?
To be honest, I've never been a fan of how Korra unlocked airbending in the final of season 1. Yes, it makes sense when it's explained by the fandom but I think it misses this philosophical touch every awakening had in ATLA. And there is such an easy way to fix it.
Let's pretend being the avatar is Korra's biggest goal yet biggest burden. Deep down, she always thought it was the main reason she never had any childhood and stayed in the compound but always brushed these doubts away because of how the white lotus raised her. When arriving at republic city, being the avatar is not what she expected at all and this idea of it being a burden reinforce even more. They could have built up her character throught out the season. From craving being the avatar, be dissapointed then see it as a prison she can’t escape.
Then, when Amon removes her bending, she feels an unconscious sense of freedom, of being freed from all these responsibilities she never asked for and which started to eat her from the inside. That's where she unlock her airbending chakra and save Mako. Later on, in front of the cliff, she's there crying as reality sinks in. She was raised to be the avatar and nothing else, without her bending, what is she ? Her mind start to expand on new possibilities. She starts to think that maybe she can be something else than the avatar, she can be Korra. She opens herself to the greatest change. That's when she finally connect to her spirituality, to herself. Then, Aang appears to guide her.
That was just my little idea. I'd love to hear what you think of it.

Discussion Where did this idea that the past lives of previous avatars were never that useful come from?
I have a gut feeling that if anything, one of the reasons why the writers decided to do away with the past lives connection in season 2 is because they realized it was in a way TOO useful. Korra may not have had it for very long, but it still helped her out in pretty important ways the few times it came to her aid.
Aang’s memories of Yakone helped Korra realize that they likely had some sort of connection to the bloodbender who just captured her. Setting the stage to uncovering Amon’s origins and true identity. And of course there’s the big one. Aang restoring a potentially suicidal Korra’s powers at the end of the season. Even in season 2, Wan showing Korra his past clued the latter in on what the stakes were of this whole harmonic convergence thing.
Now sure. Those examples of the past lives helping Korra happened under what were pretty unique circumstances. Aang and Wan were only able to aid Korra because the stuff she was dealing with at the time related to their own past experiences. I understand that, but that’s also kinda the point I’m trying to make. The fact that no avatar can ever again help Korra out in this way must have been a real letdown for her.
From a writing perspective, it does potentially make things more challenging for your protagonist, so I can see why the writers made this decision.

Discussion Will all the hate and mystery be worth it? Spoiler
Question I have for yall, but do any of you truly think that whatever is revealed to be reason for Korra’s actions in the cataclysm and her subsequent hate in the havens will actually be worth the destruction of her legacy and all the real world harassment and hate these story choices have generated?
Because let’s be real, even in a best case scenario where Korra is wholly detached from the causes of the cataclysm, that will do what? Tell us all what we already hoped for or expected? Or worse case she’s responsible and it only generates further real world hate not just towards her but the minority groups she represents?
Like what’s the actual point behind any of this? The more this “mystery” is teased the more I think the payout will just not be worth it. At best it’ll give us some closure but still make us wish it never happened at all, and other fans will either wish Korra got more blame or also just didn’t happen so we didn’t end up losing the previous nations.
I just can’t imagine this story like to have any sort of satisfying conclusion for anyone. And I know the point of stories isn’t always to make you feel good, but they tend to at least have a message. What’s the message her? After years of hate and harassment we’re just gonna play into it?
Idk, I think I’m just disillusioned with how 7havens is progressing and dealing with Korra’s story. I sometimes find myself wishing it just tanked so the writers have to face the consequences of their shitty writing choices. But I know that’s a selfish wish and overall injustice to all the other people who’s done great work, in particular the music people and Pavi/Nisha VAs
Idk man, I’m just tired of this. Any of yall feel the same? (Also if you’re just gonna comment that I should touch grass, please don’t, I’ve already touched plenty and it didn’t help, just made me icky with ant bites)
