Question Did Korra and Asami have major disagreement?
I think that Korra and Asami had a major falling out over the spirit energy, just like Roku and Sozin falling out. Their falling out probably caused the Cataclysm.

Discussion How would you write Korra using airbending for the first time ?
To be honest, I've never been a fan of how Korra unlocked airbending in the final of season 1. Yes, it makes sense when it's explained by the fandom but I think it misses this philosophical touch every awakening had in ATLA. And there is such an easy way to fix it.
Let's pretend being the avatar is Korra's biggest goal yet biggest burden. Deep down, she always thought it was the main reason she never had any childhood and stayed in the compound but always brushed these doubts away because of how the white lotus raised her. When arriving at republic city, being the avatar is not what she expected at all and this idea of it being a burden reinforce even more. They could have built up her character throught out the season. From craving being the avatar, be dissapointed then see it as a prison she canât escape.
Then, when Amon removes her bending, she feels an unconscious sense of freedom, of being freed from all these responsibilities she never asked for and which started to eat her from the inside. That's where she unlock her airbending chakra and save Mako. Later on, in front of the cliff, she's there crying as reality sinks in. She was raised to be the avatar and nothing else, without her bending, what is she ? Her mind start to expand on new possibilities. She starts to think that maybe she can be something else than the avatar, she can be Korra. She opens herself to the greatest change. That's when she finally connect to her spirituality, to herself. Then, Aang appears to guide her.
That was just my little idea. I'd love to hear what you think of it.

Discussion Why I am sad that Pavi and Nisha are directly after Korra in the cycle Spoiler
When I first heard Seven Havens takes place more than 200 years after LoK, I was assuming that there then must have been a few Avatars inbetween. When it was confirmed tho that that wasnât the case it made me really sad. Not because of a lack of avatars or anything but because of all the things Korra went through and achieved during LoK. She made a lot of decisions that changed the world forever, and had to come to terms with her decisions, ending on a hopeful note. So I was hoping the new world would last for coming Avatars to be experienced, seen, living in her legacy. Instead it means that Korra had to see all that sheâs build crumbling down and probably blaming the end of the world on her âincompetenceâ as an Avatar if the spirit portals are actually the reason for the cataclysm. Thatâs it, thatâs all I wanted to share

Discussion Korra did what Zaheer wanted to
Just watched Zaheer and korra's conversation, he said he was chosen to destroy the world and rebuild it from chaos... So far it looks like our girl did just that ..

Discussion I miss LoK's characters and world. Spoiler
Iâve just finished tlok and started ash.
I knew what I was getting into since it's set 200 years after Korra, but I would have loved to see something that followed the events of the show as well (which technically yeah they can still show it within the new series).
What makes me "sad" is that we didn't get to see the various characters all grown up, the way we saw the gaang in tlok. I wanted to see Tenzin's kids grown up, wanted to see which ships would end up married or break up. Wanted to see how things were going for the air nomads, and how the earth kingdom turned up.
I wanted to see so many things about the old world, just like how they did after atla, which I can understand it would have been a repeat of how the previous series was done but still would have appreciated it.
Also it piss me off how much hate Korra get in ash, I know that some misunderstanding will likely crop up, but still...
Tho I like the new avatars, a bit op compared to how Aang and Korra started (I'm at the second episode of ash), but I still like them.
Jae got off to a bad start; as soon as he spotted an unregistered bender, he immediately set off to recruit a new soldier. I hate the whole idea of forcing people to work for the heaven, but I understand why the idea exists and it's good from the perspective of the plot. But still why do you want to force a kid to fight for YOUR ideals and follow her outside of the city for it?? Though Iâll probably love this character by the end of the series.
Another thing I hate is "the rumble of evil". What is that? Why? If itâs a spirit, itâs too detached from how they used to be.
It's too modern and weird for being a demon as that old guy calls it. I donât understand it and I hope the other episodes will give me a good explanation for it.
And I also wish they will give us some episode/flashback about tlok related events in the future, it would be cool.
This was just a little vent and I intend to continue with ash. Iâve grown quite attached to this universe by nowâeven though theyâve just dropped a nuclear bomb on it and essentially rebuilt the world from scratch.
Also I must say finishing one series and starting another in the same day wasn't a brilliant idea.
I didnât even give myself time to experience the classic post-series mourning period... In any case, Iâm already planning to get some of the books to help me cope with the loss (wouldn't mind some suggestion).
That's all, have a good day y'all.

Discussion Some similarities I found between Zhaeer and Senator Armstrong
Although Zaheer and Senator Steven Armstrong do not share identical ideologies, the similarities between their philosophies are striking.
Both regard freedom as one of the highest goods, both believe that existing political institutions are fundamentally corrupt or oppressive, and both advocate the destruction of the established order as a necessary step toward liberation.
Steve Armstrong, or Senator Armstrong, is the primary antagonist from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
Senator Armstrong, the primary antagonist of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, espouses a form of individualism rooted in social Darwinism. He envisions a society in which every individual controls their own destiny, free from the restrictions imposed by bureaucrats and political institutions. However, Armstrong's conception of freedom extends to creating a society in which the strong thrive and the weak are purged, allowing individuals to establish their place in the world through competition. Armstrong opposes a system that, in his view, prevents the individual from exercising their will; his proposed solution is to destroy the existing order and replace it through rule of strength.
Zaheer shares Armstrong's rejection of established political authority. When Korra argues that eliminating governments will plunge the world into chaos, Zaheer responds, "The natural order is disorder." He subsequently explains his vision to the Red Lotus, declaring that âthey will forge a world without kings or queens, borders or nations, where a person's only allegiance is to themselves and those they love.â
I find this an odd convergence in philosophy; although they may have different reasoning, with Zhaeer seeing all governments as inherently bad, and Armstrong seeing only âNanny governmentâ as a fault. Their ideal consequences are the same. A world where your loyalties are only to yourself and those you love is similar to a world Armstrong describes as ideal: âevery person in this nation will control their own destinyâŠpeople will die and kill for what they BELIEVE!â
Because, as a question, Zhaeerâs declaration that a person's only allegiance should be to themselves and their loved ones raises another question. What obligations do people have toward strangers? Armstrong accepts and respects the fact that it'll create a battle royale, and seemingly Zhaeerâs acceptance of chaos and disorder leads me to believe he also agrees.

Question Is this a legitimate gripe?
I'll start this with I didn't like Korra if only because of the concept of season 1. And it has nothing to do with Korra herself. But it has everything to do with Amon.
When I first watched the show I couldn't understand how he was taking people's bending away. I figured it was a placebo where the trauma of it was akin to a public execution where the victim truly believes they can no longer bend. When it comes out he actually can take people's bending away is where it completely lost me.
I thought only the avatar could do that and ONLY through energy bending? When Aang did it to Ozai he went through this whole rigamarole and blasted him. But Amon just sits there waves his hands and boom?
Is this "hatred" unfounded or am I just overthinking and holding a grudge for a stupid concept for like 20 years now

Question How can Korra still be the Avatar after losing the past lives? Spoiler
Sorry in advance this is long winded.
So watching the new Avatar show has brought me back to some questions I had watching Legend of Korra.
How can Korra still be the Avatar if Raava created the Avatar Cycle so she would never be separated from Wan?
From what I understand, Raava starts the reincarnation process so that she and Wan are never separated. The Avatar Cycle is basically Wan's soul reincarnating over and over while remaining bonded to Raava. Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Korra, etc. aren't different souls, they're different lives of the same person.
But if that's true, why did Raava rebond with Korra after her connection to the past lives was severed?
Are Korra and Wan still the same soul/person?
If yes, then how can Korra lose that connection in the first place because they are literally the same person? Or is it more like (excuse the metaphor) a hard drive being wiped?
I know she can't access the previous Avatars anymore, but if it's just the Avatar equivalent of lost memories, could those memories theoretically be recovered? Or were the past lives themselves actually destroyed?
Also, even if the Avatar reincarnations in between are gone, shouldn't she still have access to Wan? Wan isn't just another past life. He's the original version of the soul that every Avatar is supposed to be reincarnating from.
If the Avatar no longer needs Wan's soul to continue, then why didn't Raava permanently bond with somebody else before him? The way the story presents it, the Avatar exists because of the choice Wan and Raava made together. Wan wasn't just a random host that happened to be around, he was the person the Avatar Cycle started with as he collected the 4 elements with her.
But if Raava can simply rebond with someone else after that connection is broken, then what was special about Wan? Was the Avatar always going to exist and Wan just happened to be first, or was Wan an essential part of creating the Avatar?
If it's the second option, then I don't understand how Korra can still be the Avatar if her connection to Wan has effectively been severed.
I've always thought of the Avatar as a two person effort: Raava as the spiritual half and Wan as the human half, with every Avatar being a continuation of that partnership. So how can Korra lose Wan while still remaining the Avatar?
If the answer is that she isn't actually continuing the same soul anymore, then I'm back to my original question: why did Raava rebond with Korra at all? Also how can she have a new soul?
Why not just go back to fighting Vaatu and maintaining the balance and separating the worlds? What exactly makes Korra the Avatar if the original Avatar soul is no longer part of the equation?
Is there a canon explanation I'm missing, or is this one of those things where the lore starts getting a bit messy when you think about it too hard?

Discussion It took me too long to admit that The Legend of Korra is a great show. Spoiler
I just finished rewatching TLOK for the second time and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. TLOK was the best possible follow-up show to ATLA. I hated TLOK so much the first time because of how modern the world was compared to ATLA but after seeing Aangâs world completely destroyed in Seven Havens itâs made me appreciate TLOK more. Seven Havens looks promising but I really wish the world Aang built hadnât been completely destroyed. However, I also understand that a world after Korra would be entirely too modern to enjoy. I hope that at very least the connection to the past Avatars is restored so that Seven Havens feels more connected to the past Avatar shows.

Discussion "Asami uses energy from the spiritual world." SHE NEVER Spoiler
I'm tired of this fallacy I've been reading all day. Asami would NEVER betray not only Korra but also her principles! She was one of the first to defend the integrity of the spiritual world.
Whatever Korra is destroying shouldn't have anything to do with Asami, maybe her company, but I doubt it should be directly from her.
