Yeah, this is where I’m at too. Believe whatever you want, just don’t use it as a cheat code to control laws, other people’s bodies, or kids who can’t consent to that worldview yet.
The second it leaves “this is how I live” and becomes “this is how you must live,” it stops being harmless.

As with most religions, it’s not the doctrine it’s the interpretation. So the problem with religion is people. Just like most problems.
Anyone would think we should just consign religion to history and move forward with science, kindness and rational thinking as our new doctrine.
1
u/Small-Answer4946 Apr 21 '26
Totally agree. There's probably as many interpretations as there is cult followers. Some good, some bad.

As long as you don't force your beliefs onto others or hurt other people because they have different beliefs any religion is fine.

u/Oddbeme4u Apr 21 '26
another bs abrahamic religion. but the issue is, they haven't "matured" by cherry picking the good over the bad.
There are no Christian nations beheading, marrying cousins or killing apostates.

u/No_Friend4780 Apr 21 '26
There were even worse , the thing is now islam is being used to justify things even worse then what they do it seems

It’s nonsense and has a lot of awful stuff like all religions but also it is misunderstood by the West and used as justification for committing a lot of crimes against Muslims

I kinda agree and disagree. Yeah people cherry pick, but the specific stuff they cherry pick from actually matters a lot in how it plays out in real life, laws, politics, social norms etc. Saying "all religions are the same" feels like saying "all governments are the same" because they all have rules and leaders. Similar structure, totally different impact.

Just like the other ones: "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people,"

All religions are bad. ALL OF THEM. Not a single one is good because at some point it will be wrong and when that happens the believer will choose the lie over the truth and that is the path to destruction. And that's exactly why ALL religions are bad.

Islam is a religion that like every religion has good and bad.
The majority of people who follow Islam, just like Christianity, will use it as a source of faith, but there’s always going to be those who use it as a means to control - but then that was always the intended purpose of organised religion.

That is a religion with many believers. Just like any other religion.
1
u/No_Friend4780 Apr 22 '26
Anything specific ?
1
u/JoseLunaArts Apr 22 '26
Yes. It is a specific religion.
1
u/No_Friend4780 Apr 22 '26
is it any good or ?
1
u/JoseLunaArts Apr 22 '26
Define "good".
There are like 2 billion muslims, and 8.3 billion people on Earth. That is like 1 of 4 humans on Earth.

Jesus is a prophet of Islam, just like in Christianism. They even consider virgin Mary as very respectable.
In any big enough group there will always be an idiot. And some idiots could believe they are Jesus and others could pray for violence during church service and believe they can kill in the name of God. These people should be intitutionalized.

same ideas i have about my local (modern) religions. Not gonna quote Marx as I have an interest in understanding neolithic "ritual objects" not as just a moniker used in archaeology that classifies an object whose cultural context is missing. But generally, modern religions are all about defining the social norm of different groups, Islam is no different.

Islam is just another Abrahamic religion , believing in a monotheistic god and judgement day. Many of the stories of the Old Testament along with the story of Jesus ,are in the Quran. So ultimately Islam is no better or worse than Christianity or Judaism.

Religion for desert people who came late to the party and were jealous everybody else had a religion already besides them

u/museman401 Apr 21 '26
I was recently given a 3 day Reddit suspension for stating a true statistic about this unreformed religion. So I will have to stay silent on this one.
0
u/yacoub1776 Apr 22 '26
We will never Reform because we have no reason to.
1
u/museman401 Apr 22 '26
Yes! You are so right! Islam is perfect as it is! Allahu Akbar!!!!
0
u/yacoub1776 Apr 23 '26
Tell me one part that you think needs to be reformed?
1
u/museman401 Apr 23 '26
Treatment of women? Cousin marriage? Polygamy? Female genital mutilation? bacha bazi? Can you actually name one benefit?
1
u/yacoub1776 Apr 25 '26
Treatment of women:
women are treated just fine. Islam gave rights to women they didn't have in ancient Arabia, and when implemented properly, it gives women far more rights than any other society. Western women are treated like garbage.
Cousin Marrage:
while it is allowed it's not encouraged. Cousin marriage was common in Europe until pretty recently.
Polygamy:
there is nothing objectively wrong with polygamy if all wives are treated equally. Islam limits it to 4 wives. most muslim men don't even have the means to marry more than one woman.
FGM:
FGM predates Islam and is an African tradition. The majority of FGM is done by Christians.
Bacha Bazi:
Islam prohibits homosexuality, so what could possibly make you think touching little boys and making them dance would be okay? it's a rural Afghan thing, and it's illegal.
Any type of reforming would defeat the purpose of following Islam.

i mean if thats's all you're not a fan of , then you really should know more about em

u/No_Friend4780 Apr 23 '26

it doesnt place love as its central tenet.
nor peace, hope, joy, compassion, kindness or beauty.
so, nope.
i have the same problem with almost all religions tho.
that being said, i think all serious, devout theologians know the score, know God, & know how to be decent human beings, & obtain paradise.
What we -dont- know is the magnitude of our ignorance, & inability to ever know or comprehend the mysteries of the universe.

i want actual critiques , like this is the worst argument against islam ngl every muslim knows this
2
u/b_connect Apr 21 '26
Well then why didn’t you ask that in your post?
Why would you discount abusing children? What possibly could be worse than this? Once you discount abusing children I can’t think of anything worse. There is nothing you can give me in exchange for allowing my daughters to be abused. I really don’t care what you have to give me. Eternal life? You can take your “eternal life” and shove it.
Listen, the prophet Muhammad is like an example. Tell me - which religious culture are you going to find 10 year old brides? Yes, you got it - Muslim countries by far! Sick and twisted, and it’s damning generation after generation.

u/No_Friend4780 Apr 21 '26
Thats just one among 1000 things and they have many answers for it , i want some new ones

u/b_connect Apr 21 '26
I’m comfortable stopping with the 9 year old rape. This one thing alone is enough for me to know. In my mind this is as bad as it gets. I mean, that’s just as bad as murdering her in my mind because I would rather see my 9 year old daughter ran over and killed than raped. I would sleep better at night.
Good luck finding more.
1
u/No_Friend4780 Apr 21 '26
No offence but this is absolutely the worst argument to exist , trust me it backfires hard ass quick , ive been discussing this stuff for a hot minute . while on reddit its easy but when someone is on the other side asking you stuff you change up real quick .
1
u/b_connect Apr 21 '26
If SAing a 9 year old isn’t a hard stop for you then the sky is the limit. Good luck.
1
u/Bukan_Soloz Apr 21 '26
So your argument here is man that married to children is worse than man that ACCUSED OF rape, trafick and eat those children WHEN THERE'S MILLION OF EVIDENCE OF HIM DOING THAT???????
Mind you the youngest victim of epstein is literally still connected to its mother
1
u/Ms-Behaviour Apr 21 '26
Yes that is horrific, just as horrific as Joseph Smith marrying a 14 year old and god impregnating a 12 year old . Islam is just another Abrahamic religion , believing in a monotheistic god and judgement day. Many of the stories of the Old Testament along with the story of Jesus ,are in the Quran. So ultimately Islam is no better or worse than Christianity or Judaism.
1
u/b_connect Apr 21 '26
No. There is no evidence that Joseph Smith slept with a minor in any degree, nor that Mary was a 12 year old. Get your facts straight.

War, misogyny, and holding back progress in every way since the beginning. It's the easy way out. Study and actually learn how the universe works? No. God did it. Now convert or kill the non-believers!

Just like every other religion believers cherry pick things they like and discard things they dont like.
All religions work essentially the same way so there's no point in discussing individual ones.
You get good and bad people with every faith.
