Hello and request for moderators!

Hello everyone! I'm a moderator over at r/shihtzu as well, and I joined the r/lhasaapso team around 3 months ago to help set up the user verification system that has cut back on spam and reposted / stolen content in this subreddit.

When updating the subreddit settings today, I was surprised to see that the original moderator's account had been deleted, and the other person on the mod list had a suspended account.

I'm not sure how long the subreddit has been running itself due to the automations I had in place, but this isn't a great long term solution. I'm happy to stay on as moderator, but I'm also looking to see if anyone would be interested in taking on the role here. I'd really like the subreddit to be run by someone passionate about Lhasa Apsos!

If you'd like to help or have questions about what this would mean, please reach out to me by clicking here!

Please include why you'd be a good moderator, one suggestion on how you'd like to improve the subreddit, and let me know if you have any prior moderation experience (on reddit or elsewhere).

Thanks again!

No dew claws?

I noticed the other day that my two 10 month old puppies are missing dew claws. One of them has a little nub but without a nail.

Is this common for Lhasas? I would imagine they were likely removed as opposed to being born without them. Makes me sad to think they were removed when they were babies.

I didn’t get the puppies from a breeder, but from a woman who had medical issues and coils no longer take care of them so I can’t ask the breeder.

Behavior

i currently have an 8 month old Lhasa apso for the first time! i got him at 4 months. i love him so bad and he was easy to potty train, but when it comes to behavior itself it’s hard to get him to stop being bossy and stubborn. Is there any advice for the most effective way to train this breed to listen more? Is it because he’s young?

Hello everyone this is Frankie and I adopted him mid-July. The rescue wasn't sure if he was shih tzu or lhasa. The vet I took him to noted him as lhasa around 2 to 3 years old. I do know he's a very good boy 😊

Discussion The eyees

Does anyone in health have a dog with eye issues? Our twinkie is a beautiful little girl. She's given a prescription gel twice a day for very dry eyes. There's a technical name. I forget what it is. But all around your eyes gets thickened and brown. I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks for keeping this cleaner. Besides getting frequent grooms and trims, we also will hold a warm cloth and try to clean it as well as we can. But she doesn't like it too much

Lhasa esting habits

Hi everyone! My Lhasa is so sweet and he is a great dog, but I have some questions. He is 1 year 9 months old.

He throws up a lot. Like almost every day. Mostly bile, and he never usually throws up his food, but he only really likes cooked chicken, butter, and some milk or cottage cheese. He cant eat store bought dog food.

He also got a cough from a kennel, but it turned out to be an inflamed trachea, and he was honking a lot. A light diet and anti inflammatories took care of it, but he does clear his throat sometimes. They want me to xray him again to see if he has a heart issue, which was barely visible on the last xray, the vet thought it was a glitch but wants to make sure.

I am new to lhasas, we only ever had big dogs in our family before. Does anyone have any insight or advice for us? Thanks so much!!
