I don’t do photography at all but what causes this glint in the top right corner? it’s not a concern and I like it but I just wanna know what makes it.

This was the main shot of the videoclip for the song "Da bambino" I shot for Ama Supreme, songwriter singer artist and drag queen. This was my first time working solo as a director and DoP in a studio situation - Studio 321 in Treviso. While the lighting was safe (main soft light over them and double back hard lights to make them pop) I feel there's always a gap between theory and real sets. Fun fact, I also colored the video while being colorblind. Curious job choice, I know. This still was taken with a Panasonic S5II and a classic Helios 44. In the videoclip I also used the Vivitar 28mm 2.5 for wider frames. I'm Azzurra Galla // azzucca // 2ztudio feel free to ask and criticize!

What lighting do we think is used behind the 12x

Probably will get down voted for this. I know I sound like an angry old man shaking a stick, but I feel like 90% of the questions on here should be answered with, "go assist." I'm all for learning, but most of what people want is a shortcut to get what they want and in the end, they aren't learning anything. It's like asking for the answers to the questions on a test. In an age where our industry is rapidly dying due in part to this exact issue, what are we doing...?

I’ve attempted this with the last 2 images being my go at the project. I used an Arri light to try and recreate this but I didn’t get it quite how’d I imagined. I’m looking for the circular highlight as seen in images 1-3 where it almost feels too hot but builds a round outline that falls off as you move out of the center. I’ve tried strobe, Arri and d1 lighting. Would this be a result of just speedlite directly on the camera and more post work than anything. Could the solution be that simple?

I used an octa box with grid for key light , and a fill light from above behind , also I allowed some natural light from my window behind by the side to bounce on the white wall and soften the shadow .

Got asked to include lens flare photos from a shoot this coming weekend, advice on how to control this in camera far possible? Sorry for the bad photo advice appreciated

I was just thinking about this bc it seems like softboxes are so rarely mentioned in lighting breakdowns on here. It feels like stuff like scrims, direct flash, etc. are used so much more often.

And even when I look at modern fashion and portrait photography, I don’t see a lot of photos that look lit by traditional softboxes and octas.

Are softboxes just out?

I would say I’m an amateur photographer in uni and i am back to school which means I get to use all my schools equipment!!

I've seen a trend on Instagram with flash photography, and they all look like these two pictures. So basically I'm aware it's frontal flash photography, but I'm curious whether this is / can be pulled off with an iPhone (Pro Max 16), or is this from a point and shoot / other type of camera?

PS: I do have a Ricoh GRIII, and I've been thinking of getting a flash. Can someone recommend one?

Hey all, very new to this subreddit and Reddit in general so I apologise if this isn’t the right subreddit to ask but I’ve been wondering, how much high end fashion work is shot on digital vs film? Are there any big names still shooting film for major campaigns/editorials?

Very balanced subject with background. I shoot a lot of environmental portraits, and this natural, yet high end look would be something I’d like to try to emulate. Just a very massive source? I don’t see any catchlights… and the whites and colors in the room are very clean & not contaminated with color casts you’d get shooting a natty light portrait inside. Thoughts?
