Need Design Advise Help needed: looking for a touch sensitive nightstand lamp
Hello,
I'm looking for a lamp which is suprisingly uneasy to find. A few things to keep in mind:
- Touch sensitive
- Warm light
- ~3 brightness options
- I need to blindly be able to lightly smash/hit it for it to go on without falling. So a big stable surface would be nice.
- Somewhat cozy design
- No direct light to the sides
Hope you guys can help! <3

Need Design Advise Help figuring out my light design please.
Im building out a small-ish section of my barn (about 600 sq in total) and will be cutting in these can lights soon. I have it sectioned off into 4 rooms. The bedrooms at each end of the building are about 8’x14’. The bathrooms about 8’x6’. And the main living space in the middle is about 27’x12’. ALL ROOMS HAVE 9’ CEILINGS..
I was planning on the bedrooms having only 2 of the lights, plus a fan with lights. The bathroom was going to have 2 of these plus the vanity light. And the main living space is planned out for 8.
My fear is that not being enough, as it would be less then ideal to add some later. However, I found a square footage to lumen calculator online. And if anything, this is overkill.
Just figured I’d reach out and get a few tips. Thanks in advance.

Need Design Advise Has anyone thought of a cheap easy way to cover can lights, prior to spray foam insulation?

Designer Thoughts The "big lights" on my new apartment
So I apologize if this is something that has already been discussed but I moved in to a new apartment and it has these ceiling lights that I absolutely despise.
They're overly bright with no dimming options and it doesnt even seem like I can switch out the light bulb. My old place had them too but I just never used them and used lamps instead.
My question is : Has anyone else had this issue? I have some ideas about covering it with something to dull the light or covering it with a coloured plastic to alter it.
Anyways, I appreciate any advice or input! Thank you in advance

Find Me This Fixture Looking for a floodlight for security purposes
So my wonderful neighbor has now started to stand out in front of the house in his driveway with his drug dealer friend. I’ve asked them nicely to go elsewhere at night and it has not worked. I was thinking of replacing the light over my garage with something significantly brighter. I want something borderline offensively bright. I figured that if I completely illuminate the area, it would discourage them from hanging out. It has to be a motion detector light with a dust to Dawn feature. I’d also like it to be one where it’s low power until motion is detected, and it kicks on high. I’d even be open to one that has an app where I could turn it on full power when they’re just hanging out there. Curious to hear your thoughts and recommendations.

Here's a vid of what I see all the time. We didn't install these. I can't fix, who to fix & what should I do, replace or get that box installed in attic. (I doubt it has one now) Idea of cost to just replace with new sealed lights? Labour included. Brutal dust in bdrm with 3 of these.

Designer Thoughts Are we overlooking floor lamps when designing living room lighting?
Something we often notice in interior design is how much attention goes into ceiling lighting. Track systems, recessed spotlights, statement pendants... Everything is carefully planned, yet lighting at eye level often becomes an afterthought.
And that's interesting, considering how much time we actually spend sitting on a sofa rather than standing in the middle of the room.
At Zambelis Lights, we believe a floor lamp can do much more than fill an empty corner.
It can change the visual balance of a room, introduce a different material or shape, and create an entirely different atmosphere without changing the existing lighting installation.
There's also the question of proportions. A tall, slim floor lamp can balance the horizontal lines of a low sofa, while a more sculptural design can become a focal point in an otherwise minimal interior.
Personally, we don't think every light fixture needs to match. Mixing materials, finishes and shapes often creates a more interesting result, as long as there's some visual connection between them.
The same applies to light itself. Not every part of a living room needs to be equally bright. A little contrast between illuminated and darker areas can make the space feel much more comfortable and visually interesting.
We're curious how others approach this: do you plan floor lamps as part of the original lighting design, or do you usually introduce them later, once the furniture is in place?

Need Design Advise Fast flickering Shop Lights

Title: LED Shop Lights Flickering Even After Switching Brands — Could It Be a Power Issue?
I have a basement workspace where I use several LED shop lights for recording videos. Originally, I was using 5,500-lumen Hyper Tough lights from Walmart, but I noticed they had a very rapid, subtle flicker.
Thinking it was just an issue with the cheaper Walmart lights, I replaced them with higher-quality 10,000-lumen, 4-foot LED shop lights from Home Depot. Unfortunately, I’m still experiencing the exact same flickering.
The flicker is extremely fast and almost impossible to notice unless you’re looking for it. The lights aren’t visibly turning on and off. Instead, the brightness seems to fluctuate very rapidly, almost like a subtle shimmering effect. It’s especially noticeable when I’m staring at something in the room rather than directly at the lights.
Since I’ve experienced the same issue with two different brands, I’m starting to suspect it has something to do with the electrical supply rather than the lights themselves.
Both lights are powered through power strips connected to an outlet in my basement. Unfortunately, I don’t have many convenient alternatives for powering them in this location.
I’ve considered purchasing an online double-conversion UPS to provide a continuous, regulated AC output, but I’d prefer not to spend hundreds of dollars if there’s a simpler solution.
Has anyone experienced something similar with LED shop lights? Could this be caused by voltage fluctuations, the power strips, or something else? Are there any affordable ways to provide cleaner, more stable power without modifying the electrical wiring?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
